EarthNight Fights the Dragon Apocalypse Today on Nintendo Switch, PC

EarthNight Fights the Dragon Apocalypse Today on Nintendo Switch, PC

PHILADELPHIA – 4 Dec. 2019 – EarthNight, the hand-drawn action-platformer set during the dragon apocalypse and featured in this year’s Nintendo Indie World presentation, lands today on Nintendo Switch and Steam for Windows PC and Mac.

Skydive from humanity’s last refuge in outer space, plunging down from orbital colonies into the dragon-infested skies below. Liberate the planet by taking the fight to these beasts, running and bounding along the creatures’ serpentine backs toward weak points to deliver a final blow.

To survive until that moment, heroes Sydney and Stanley must harness their distinct abilities to overcome a gauntlet of obstacles and swarms of enemies that stand in their way. Sydney, a teen with ethereal powers, can double jump and make swooping attacks; meanwhile, Stanley can hop high in the air, perform long leaps, and slice through enemy formations with his sword.

While surmounting these challenges, the pair can search for secrets, warp zones, and helpful items hidden throughout the levels to aid them in their journey. Between runs, they can trade water and trophies like dragon eggs, teeth, and eyes to Dr. Dave the Appraiser in return for powerups, including enchanted weapons, shields, magical potions, a mind-control device, and more.

With more experience and new gear, the dragon hunters can press deeper into enemy territory, reaching new layers of the atmosphere closer to the Earth’s surface where dangerous new foes and tantalizing treasures await. Each dragon and aerial layer are different from the last, offering up new tests and rewards as the fast-paced action builds toward an intense final battle.

Throughout the journey, EarthNight is a breathtakingly beautiful experience brought to life by Paul “Mathattan” Davey, who painstakingly rendered tens of thousands of frames of animation by hand. The energetic soundtrack, composed by Paul “Chipocrite” Weinstein, combines chiptunes created with Game Boys and with real-world instruments, and features contributions from Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy XII, and Valkyria Chronicles seriescomposer Hitoshi Sakimoto.

EarthNight has been an epic challenge to complete for myself and the rest of the development team these past seven years,” said Rich Siegel, founder, Cleaversoft. “This journey has been an incredible ride and we hope the community loves the game as much as we enjoyed making it.”

EarthNight is now available for $14.99 / €13.99 / £12.59 / $21.00 AUD via the Nintendo Switch eShop and Steam for Windows PC and Mac. The game is also available on Apple Arcade and will be coming to PlayStation 4 very soon. It features English-language text support.

  • New Multiplayer Game Modes: In Reinforce, a hybrid mode between Domination, Search & Destroy, and Search & Rescue, capture points to revive fallen teammates and take all points to win the round. Further into Season One, additional modes will go live including Infected, where it’s hunt or be hunted in the survival party game mode where eliminated survivors become infected. In O.S.P. The Climb Out Now on Oculus Quest

The Climb Out Now on Oculus Quest

Crytek’s acclaimed solo rock-climbing game brings mountain adventure to Oculus Quest players

FRANKFURT, Germany – Dec. 3, 2019 – Today Crytek is bringing the thrill of extreme free solo rock climbing to Oculus Quest with The Climb. The adrenaline-packed climbing game allows players to experience the rush of dangerous solo climbs in stunning, hyper-realistic settings from the comfort of almost anywhere with the incredible freedom offered by the completely wireless Oculus Quest. The Climb is available now for $29.99 in the Oculus Store and supports cross-buy, meaning players who already own The Climb on Oculus Rift will receive a copy for Quest for free (and vice versa).

Experience the ultimate in extreme sports: go beyond the point of no return and scale deadly cliff faces unaided, with three locations, tutorials, a practice wall, and six intense bouldering routes to beat. In Tourist mode, players can explore the expansive settings with simplified game mechanics to discover new routes, show friends and family, or just enjoy the scenery. Meanwhile, The Climb’s asynchronous multiplayer mode allows climbers to compete against other players’ ascents and send challenges to their friends.

The Climb’s three settings give climbers a variety of landscapes to explore—Alps, Bay and Canyon—each painstakingly created based on real-world locations. For example, Canyon takes inspiration from the geography of the Grand Canyon, drawing upon wider natural and cultural cues from across the U.S. and combining iconic elements to create an immersive blend of sights, sounds and adrenaline-pumping challenges. By night, fireworks from a music festival accompany the breathtaking ascents, while daylight reveals endless vistas marked by winding rivers, mysterious mine shafts and jets performing dramatic formation flyovers. The heat will be on as players feel the scale of the environment, the vertigo of the height and the challenge of the competition to achieve the best times on the leaderboards.

“From the very first prototype for The Climb, we knew that climbing and VR were the perfect combination. Virtual reality allows you to try something most people could never experience in real life—and with just as intense an adrenaline rush as the real thing,” said Producer Fatih Özbayram. “The Climb is so much fun to play on Oculus Rift, and the Quest offers even more freedom to players. No strings—or cables—attached!”

To complete The Climb’s host of vertical challenges, players will have to master different grip types, balance speed against stamina, and discover routes and shortcuts. More than 100 achievements are up for grabs as players unlock custom watches, gloves and wristbands, while amazing visual payoffs reward the completion of every ascent, demonstrating the power of CRYENGINE and VR.

Charming Reimagining of SEGA’s Classic Adventure Honored on Stage

at Today’s Apple Briefing

NEW YORK CITY (Dec. 3, 2019) Publisher and retro aficionados Dotemu together with beloved developer Lizardcube were recognized today by Apple in its naming of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, the gorgeous remake of SEGA’s cult classic adventure, as Apple TV’s Game of the Year. The award was announced during Apple’s press conference in New York City, where publisher Dotemu CEO Cyrille Imbert took the stage to accept the honor on behalf of both teams as well as Playdigious, the studio behind the game’s mobile ports.

“We’re thankful for this incredible recognition and continue to be blown away by the warm reception from fans who have readily embraced Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap,” said Cyrille Imbert. “It’s a dream come true to introduce so many new players to one of our all-time favorite games, and we’re immensely proud to have worked with Lizardcube for this beautiful recreation of a timeless journey.”

“It’s an honor to see our work with Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap celebrated in such a monumental way,” said Ben Fiquet, art and creative director at Lizardcube. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to revitalize such a wonderful title and to have a role in it finally receiving the widespread appreciation it always deserved.”

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap breathes new life into a classic platforming adventure through its striking hand-drawn animations and rich, orchestrated soundtrack. Players can swap between the remastered experience and the original release’s sprites and music in realtime, making this the perfect way to both revisit the game’s origins and witness its transformative reimagining.

The stunning remake originally launched in 2017 on PC and consoles to high critical praise and commercial success. The game made its way to the iOS platforms, including Apple TV, earlier this year. Dotemu and Lizardcube are currently collaborating with Guard Crush Games on Streets of Rage 4, the return of SEGA’s iconic beat-em-up series to release on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox One.
