Comically vicious vertical platformer Jump King makes the jump to Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 9th

Try to majestically ascend to the top of a colossal tower in this unique tactical leaping adventure.

London, United Kingdom, May 27th, 2020 – UKIYO Publishing and independent game developer Nexile are thrilled to announce that their critically acclaimed and comically punishing platformer Jump King is heading to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on June 9th.

Jump King is a tough as nails “tactical leaping adventure” that challenges players to ascend a colossal tower to rescue a smoking hot babe at the top, where all they can do is jump. Players must set themselves in the desired position, charge their jump just right, then let gravity do its thing as they make each nerve-wracking leap. Should they be the right and true king of jumping, they shall land on a ledge. Otherwise… well, it could be a long drop down.

Every point of progress is saved along the way… but so is every setback. Jumps that cause you little grief one time may become the bane of your existence upon encountering them again. It’s worth experimenting with different routes and tactics though, as Jump King features multiple paths to success. All this is wrapped up in a nostalgic pixel art aesthetic, full of colorful characters and evocative locales.

Make no mistake, Jump King is an extraordinarily difficult game, yet it can be relished by anyone looking for a tough but fair challenge. It’s sadistic enough to drive a seasoned gamer to tears, yet accessible enough due to its simple controls and mechanics, that anyone can overcome its challenges – perseverance is key! Do you have what it takes to be the one true Jump King?

“It’s great to finally be able to share Jump King with players on console,” said Felix Wahlström of Nexile. “Building the entire game around just jumping was very amusing. I’m happy we stuck with the purity of our vision. We managed to distill the mechanic to one of its truest forms, creating an unforgettable challenge for players! Jump King has a modern structure and a mechanic taken for granted with a twist, all in a captivating and classic package. We think console gamers will both love and hate it, just like we do”.

Jump King continues to offer the team at UKIYO Publishing some of the most hair-pulling, infuriatingly fun moments of our gaming lives,” said Paul Hann of UKIYO Publishing. “I’ve still not managed to reach the top of this devilish castle, but at least now I can try to do so from the comfort of my sofa.”

Oneiric Roguelite ARPG ‘Dreamscaper’ Announced

Dream, die, wake, repeat… Coming to Steam Early Access this summer

San Francisco, CA — May 27th, 2020 — Independent developer Afterburner Studios today announced that their atmospheric action RPG about lucid dreaming, Dreamscaper, is coming to Steam Early Access this summer. A phantasmagorical experience where story and hack n slash action collides, Dreamscaper draws players into a never-ending cycle of dreaming and waking as the protagonist, Cassidy, battles fiendish nightmares and uncovers the mystery surrounding her life.

Doubling its funding goal on Kickstarter in 2019, Dreamscaper already made a splash last month with a free demo version, Dreamscaper: Prologue, which attracted over a quarter million users. Gaining recognition, Dreamscaper will be featured in several online video game showcases this summer, including Steam Game Festival, Guerilla Collective and The Escapist Indie Showcase.

“We are excited to officially announce that Dreamscaper is coming to Steam Early Access this summer,” said Ian Cofino from Afterburner Studios. “Dreamscaper is a very personal project to us. We wanted to explore themes like depression and mental health, but do it in a more approachable way. Casidy’s journey of empowerment and overcoming her anxieties felt like a premise everyone of us could relate to. We’re thrilled with how much Dreamscaper has resonated with players across the world.”

In Dreamscaper players dive into Casidy’s subconscious and confront the surreal nightmares she wrestles with in order to save her from a dark fate. Every slumber is a different ordeal in an ever-changing world with a multitude of unique events and challenges. The deep combat system features a multitude of attack options, from finger guns and yo-yos to rending the earth beneath you or controlling time itself – in a dreamworld anything goes. Once awake, players interact with people in Cassidy’s life, forge new relationships, piece her life events together and unlock upgrades that impact her next dream. As soon as Cassidy falls asleep, the cycle continues: players traverse her beautiful, haunting dreamscapes, confronting her nightmares head-on with a rich hack-n’-slash combat system where careful positioning, exact timing and quick reflexes are rewarded.

Featuring an otherworldly, dynamic musical score by industry composer, Dale North, Dreamscaper is due out on Steam Early Access this summer.

UBISOFT® UNVEILS NEW ASIA-PACIFIC LEAGUE FOR TOM CLANCY’S RAINBOW SIX® ESPORTS

UBISOFT® UNVEILS NEW ASIA-PACIFIC LEAGUE FOR TOM CLANCY’S RAINBOW SIX® ESPORTS

The Asia-Pacific League will feature two regional divisions: North Division and South Division

Ubisoft will inaugurate a brand-new and cutting-edge broadcast studio, a first major step in revamping the viewing experience of its esports leagues in Asia-Pacific and Europe

Sydney, AUSTRALIA — May 27, 2020 — Today, Ubisoft® announced details around the upcoming Asia-Pacific League for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Esports, featuring two regional divisions, the North Division and the South Division, each of them following its own competitive structure.

The Asia-Pacific North Division will gather a total of 12 teams – from Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia – that will compete in a single online league. At the end of each stage, based on match results, the six best teams from the North Division standings will progress to the Asia-Pacific League Playoffs, where teams from the North and South Divisions will gather and compete for the top placings in the Asia-Pacific League and 4 will progress to the Six Major.

For this first 2020 Season, the teams competing in the North Division are:

  • Cloud9
  • Cyclops Athlete Gaming
  • FAV Gaming
  • FNATIC
  • Giants Gaming
  • GUTS Gaming
  • NORA Rengo
  • Qconfirm
  • SCARZ
  • Talon Esports
  • Xavier Esports
  • 7th Heaven

Starting June 23rd, the Asia-Pacific North Division matches will be broadcast in English, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting at 10am UTC, on the Rainbow Six Esports channels on Twitch and Youtube.

With the 2020 Season, Ubisoft will take a first major step in revamping the viewing experience of its esports leagues and will inaugurate a brand-new and cutting-edge broadcast studio for theAsia-Pacific North Division matches, broadcast in English, as well as the European League and European Challenger League. While the matches will be taking place online for the pro teams, the crew of talents will gather in France, in the Greater Paris area, to cast from this new studio. To name a few additions viewers can expect:

  • Premium tools and material to assist the talents while they cast.
  • A dedicated analyst area that will allow the crew to provide in-depth information.
  • New types of content on top of the action-packed show the pro teams will put on during their matches, such as debates, editorial pieces, interactive content and more.
  • Tech improvements backstage, that will ultimately create a more engaging stream for the viewers to watch.

As the health and well-being of our talents, staff and partners is our first priority, the new studio will not be ready for the first playdays of the Asia-Pacific League. When the first matches of the North Division begin on June 23rd, viewers will see a light version of the studio. This will be a temporary solution and as soon as the situation permits, the fully-fledged studio will take over. More information will be shared soon.

In parallel, the Asia-Pacific South Division will bring together two independent subregions: Oceania and, for the first time in Rainbow Six Esports history, South Asia. In Oceania, 8 teams from across Australia, New Zealand, Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia will compete in the Oceanic Nationals, an online league. In South Asia, teams from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will face off in a series of open online tournaments ending with a closed bracket playoff. Each stage, when both South Division Nationals end, the South Division Playoffs begin to determine the 2 teams from the South Division that will join the Asia-Pacific League Playoffs to face off against the Asia-Pacific North Division teams.

At the end of each stage, the top four teams in the Asia-Pacific Playoffs will claim a spot for the upcoming Six Major.

Each season, in December, the Asia-Pacific League will conclude with a special event, the Asia-Pacific League Finals, to determine which team truly is the Asia-Pacific Champion of the season.

Ubisoft is also unveiling a revamped path-to-pro, fuelled by the national tournaments across the Asia-Pacific region. At the end of a season, teams winning Nationals in the North Division countries will have the possibility to compete in a Promotion/Relegation system for a chance to enter the following season of the North Division league. In the South Division, the Oceanic and South Asia Nationals will fuel the South Division Playoffs, offering teams from those subregions a chance to compete in the Asia-Pacific League Playoffs to claim a spot for the Six Major.

The launch of the new Asia Pacific League alongside updates to the National tournaments across the region, as part of the new regionalised ecosystem of Rainbow Six Esports worldwide, represent the biggest evolution for the competitive Rainbow Six Siege landscape in its four-year history. All Asia-Pacific programs forge a multi-tiered esports scene, allowing players from all levels and horizons to compete.

About the Rainbow Six Esports global program

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege’s Esports includes 4 main regions, Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. All four regions run in parallel their own dedicated regional leagues, all feeding into one unique and global race towards a qualification for the Six Invitational, the pinnacle of the Rainbow Six Siege competitive year. Each regional league ties into a coherent global program, one unique race towards a qualification for the Six Invitational. As teams across the four regions face off in regional and global competitions, featuring 3 Majors and regional leagues, they will be ranked based on a new and in-depth point system that rewards sustained performance. Each competitive Season runs for nearly a year, from March through the following February. Each Season will be divided into 4 quarters. The first three quarters correspond to the 3 “Stages” of the regional leagues and conclude with a Six Major bringing together 16 of the world’s best teams – four per region across the four regions. Each stage awards prize money and points for the Global Standings. The Global Standings determine the sixteen teams earning a spot to the annual Six Invitational. Following the 3 stages, the last quarter of the season will be dedicated to regional finals and relegations. The season will then conclude with the Six Invitational that will crown the world’s best team. Four additional teams will also have a chance to qualify for the Six Invitational through Regional Open Qualifiers, making the Six invitational a 20-team competition. A notable exception to the global structure will be the first Season of 2020. As the transition and sunset of the legacy Pro League program, this year will shorten the program to only 2 stages with two Six Majors this year.

James Cousins and Alex “Alecc” Mackechnie crowned AFL Stream Kings

James Cousins and Alex “Alecc” Mackechnie crowned AFL Stream Kings

Media release: Wednesday 27 May 2020

Hawthorn Football Club star James Cousins and duo partner Alex “Alecc” Mackechnie, have been crowned the AFL Stream Kings, winning the first ever charity duos tournament featuring Fortnite, streamed live on the AFL Gamers Network.

The maiden AFL gaming event hosted 41 of football’s avid gamers paired with 41 of the region’s biggest Fortnite content creators to battle it out for a share of the $100,000 charity prize pool.

Friday’s champions Cousins and Alecc each won $25,000 for their nominated charities, the Australian Red Cross and the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation.

“The AFL Stream King was a fun event to be involved in and it was amazing to be paired up with James Cousins. I’m really pleased with the results and that two amazing charities, Gold Coast Hospital Foundation and Australian Red Cross, will benefit from our performance. I hope that this can be an annual event and look forward to defending our crown,” said Alecc.

Cousins said that following Alecc’s strategy was imperative to their win, given he knew the competition was fierce. “It was hard knowing that half the lobby is completely out of your league,” he said. “I wanted to do the right thing by Alecc by sticking to his game plan and hoping for the best.”

Finishing second was Collingwood’s Jaidyn Stephenson and his teammate Nick “SpeedyND” Drum, earning $15,000 each for their chosen charities Heart Kids and Beyond Blue, and West Coast Eagles’ Jack Petruccelle and Riley “Jynx” Linde in third place for Sane Australia and Lifeline. Gold Coast’s Kalinda Howarth and Kalan “Serpennts” Jarvis finished equal fourth for Rize Up and Lifeline, with Collingwood Magpies’ Maddie Shevlin and Abdullah “Parpy” Khudeish for Fight Cancer Foundation and Lifeline.

Ben Sellenger, AFL Head of Commercial Growth, said the AFL Stream King tournament featuring Fortnite was a huge success.

“The AFL Gamers Network is a great platform to connect with our fans who share a love of football and gaming in an environment that is relevant to them, while giving our players a competitive outlet during lockdown and beyond.

“To have 82 players, AFL players and creators alike, come together to play for their respective charities as part of our first partnership with Epic Games is an amazing achievement, amassing over 1.3 million views across all platforms,” said Sellenger.

“We’re proud to be able to contribute $100,000 to so many worthy charities through this competition and look forward to hosting future events on the AFL Gamers Network.”

The tournament amassed over 87,000 viewers and fans through the AFL Gamers Network live stream and social channels, with over 21 million minutes watched by fans across all platforms.

The tournament was streamed live via the AFL Gamers Network YouTube channel youtube.com/aflgamersnetwork.

Button City Moves to Steam in 2020

Button City Moves to Steam in 2020

New Gameplay Footage Unveiled in Wholesome Direct

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – 27 May 2020 – Button City, an adorably colorful narrative-driven adventure about friendship and community, had a new video of gameplay unveiled in today’s Wholesome Direct. Developer Subliminal Gaming will launch Button City on Steam later this year.

Help the new kid in town Fennel Fox make friends with rabbits, pandas, and other cute animal children at neighborhood locations like the coffee shop, grocery store, and local arcade. Play arcade cabinets including Gobabots, the 4v4 action game taking all the cool kids by storm. Assist Fennel as he finds his place as the fourth team member of the friendly local eSports team, Fluff Squad, aiming to rise to the top in the local Gobabots tournament.

Unfortunately, greedy fat cat Peppermint Pepperbottom has other plans. If he gets his way, he’ll tear down the arcade in his heartless pursuit of profit. Fennel, the Fluff Squad and their rivals must band together to save the arcade, preserving Gobabots and other playable arcade cabinets including a drift racer and a high-energy rhythm title in this low-poly adventure accentuated by synth-pop tunes from the same musical team that worked on Guildlings.

“We wanted the visuals and music to invoke feelings of nostalgia for summer fun at local arcades, where new friends bond over the most popular games but there’s a little bit of something for everyone,” Ryan Woodward, Lead Programmer, Subliminal Gaming. “The hijinks our furry pals get up to in Button City are larger than life, but the story’s heart is really about that sense of community and standing up together as one to protect the things we love.”

Today’s new video highlights gameplay in Gobabots. Two teams face off to collect the most fruits by harvesting them straight off the plant or prying the delicious snack from enemy hands. Eight collectible toys slot into the arcade cabinet to alter a player avatar’s looks and playstyle, and can be mixed and matched to form the ultimate team. Only the toughest competitors will climb the ranks and win the coveted ninth Golden Gobabot.

Button City will be available on Steam in English later in 2020. For more information, please visit the Button City official website, follow @ButtonCity on Twitter, and search for #ButtonCity on social media.
