Plan, Communicate, Execute—Snapshot VR Brings the Speed and Intensity of Futuristic Paintball to Virtual Reality

Experience the Rush and Fervor of Short-Burst, Highly Tactical, Paintball-Inspired Combat With None of the Mess on HTC VIVE and Oculus Rift

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE (June 17, 2020) — Grab the squad, brush up on your tactical maneuvers, and prepare to storm the enemy bunkers, as independent game developers Giant Scam Industries, announced today their VR arena shooter, Snapshot VR, is set to launch in Early Access this August on Viveport and Steam. Snapshot VR brings the incredibly fast-paced and intense tactical gameplay of real-life professional paintball into a futuristic virtual arena shooter with team-based matches of up to five players per side. With an average of only 45 seconds to dominate the other team, quick thinking, solid planning, and flawless teamwork are requisite ingredients for cooking up a victory stew.

The game’s title comes from the paintball term Snap Shooting, which is a fundamental skill based around firing quickly and accurately from behind cover. Snapshot VR aims to take this idea in the virtual realm, providing an almost true-to-life experience of competing in a high-level professional environment with all of the thrill and skill but none of the messy cleanup or painful bruising. When the buzzer sounds, each team has only a few seconds to scramble into position and begin holding down key-firing lanes. Teamwork and communication combined with battlefield awareness and the ability to quickly adapt to the opponent’s moves — calling out specific bunkers and directing teammates — are essential skills to snatching the win and getting the glory!

“We are super excited for players to play Snapshot VR and experience what we’ve been working so hard on,” said Jesse Keogh, Founder and Lead Engineer at Giant Scam (with a decade of experience in competitive paintball as both a player and coach). “We wanted to make a game that truly feels like playing paintball — fast-paced rounds, one-shot kills, rapid-fire projectiles, no respawns — but isn’t subject to some of the limitations of the real-life sport.”

Snapshot VR features official National Xball League (NXL) maps and allows players to create their own custom maps using 2D Paintball’s Field Creator to design a two-dimensional map that they can then export to Snapshot VR. Choose a layout using a standard grid and then pick from a wide variety of bunker shapes — including cans, pylons, cakes, snakes, and more — that can be swapped on-the-fly prior to a match. Real-time data tracking offers in-depth analytics that shows everything from where players scored an elimination to which bunkers were most effective, and more, allowing for effective post-game analysis and strategy development. The rounds may be short, but, Snapshot VR promises a deep and rewarding tactical experience. Add to that cross-platform player profiles, skill-based leveling, matchmaking, and leaderboards and you’ve got a robust and complete competitive shooter experience!

Key Features of Snapshot VR:

  • Inspired by Professional Paintball: Snapshot VR brings the blistering speed, battlefield tactics, and intense, team-based combat of the real thing into a virtual arena with maps and gameplay inspired by real-life tournaments—with a hefty dose of neo-futurism!
  • Planning and Communication Ensure Victory: With only a short window to plan and execute, communication, teamwork, and adaptation are the keys to victory
  • One shot, One kill: No respawns, no armor, no airstrikes. In competitive play with teams of up to five, eliminate the other team or hit their buzzer to win the round, win 5 rounds to claim the match
  • Stats for Days: Competitive sports are nothing without analytics, and Snapshot VR features deep stat-tracking and heat maps that allow for thorough post-match analysis and strategic planning
  • Move How You Want to Move: Three different VR locomotive options allow you to move your avatar effectively in a manner that suits your preferred style
  • Looking Cool IS Important: With customizable avatars and a bevy of cosmetic options, you can make your virtual competitor look as badass as you feel when nailing your opponent in the face from across the field

Snapshot VR will be available in Early Access for Windows PC via Steam and Viveport this August. The game will support the Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift S, HTC Vive, HTC Vive Pro, Vive Cosmos, and Vive Cosmos Elite, Windows Mixed Reality, and Valve index with support for additional VR devices at full launch. Additional features and content will be released throughout Early Access.

Metroidvania platformer Alwa’s Legacy is out now on Steam and GOG

A modern take on a classic genre

Gothenburg, Sweden – June 17th, 2020 – Indie developer Elden Pixels has announced that Alwa’s Legacy, the successor to the critically acclaimed 8-bit inspired platformer Alwa’s Awakening, is available now on Steam & GOG for £13.99 / $17.99 / €14.99; with the Nintendo Switch version launch coming later this summer.

Following the events of the first game, Zoe is about to embark on her quest home after saving the land of Alwa. However, upon awakening, she finds herself at the beginning of her adventure with the world feeling disparate yet familiar. In order to return home, she will need to help the inhabitants of this mysterious land and save it yet again from the mysterious curse it appears to be under.

Using Zoe’s magic staff, players must negotiate the land of Alwa to solve perilous puzzles and fend off monsters. New items and a character upgrade system allows you to craft your individual playstyle, centred on an offensive, defensive or explorative skillset. Using magical upgrades, novel pathways can be found as you explore the non-linear interconnected world by summoning blocks to climb on, bubbles to bounce off of, and lightning bolts to attack with. Quick reflexes are needed to traverse challenging rooms while avoiding booby traps and pitfalls. Along this adventure, you will meet all manner of interesting characters, comb through dangerous dungeons, and uncover incredible secrets as you attempt to save the land from extinction.

Alwa’s Legacy honours the past with its thoroughly contemporary take on the Metroidvania genre – full of puzzles to solve, dungeons to explore, magical items to acquire and ancient secrets to discover. Varnished with its 16-bit inspired visuals, mixing classical pixel art aesthetics with new visual flourishes such as a realistic lighting system and modern game design principles, Alwa’s Legacy offers a timeless play experience.

This is Elden Pixels’ second game after their homage to classic 8-bit platforming adventures, Alwa’s Awakening, which received rave reviews from the likes of Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Nintendo World Report, and Nintendo Enthusiast. Fans were so enthused by it that Alwa’s Legacy was funded on Kickstarter with 924 backers offering SEK 250,000 to see its production come to fruition. Though set in the same world with the same protagonist, Alwa’s Legacy is not a direct sequel to Alwa’s Awakening, but rather a standalone experience which can be enjoyed separately.

“I’m so excited that we’ve finally managed to finish development on the PC version of Alwa’s Legacy and release it out to the world. This year has been a very strange one, that no one will forget, but I am so proud of the team managing to get over the finish line in these trying times,” said Mikael Forslind, Game Designer for Elden Pixels. “We are hopeful that our ode to the Metroidvania genre will bring a smile to players, we have poured our hearts and souls into this to make it the best game it could possibly be.”

Control 32,000 Drones in Gripping Sci-fi Real Time Strategy Game Drone Swarm

German publisher astragon reveals more gameplay footage and dev diary video for their upcoming drone battle adventure

Düsseldorf, Germany, April 16, 2020 –astragon Entertainment and stillalive studios are pleased to announce further gameplay details of their newest project, the sci-fi real time strategy game Drone Swarm. Following the great success of the Bus Simulator franchise, both companies continue working together to bring an action packed narrative sci-fi strategy game to the players later this year. For the first time, everyone will be able to feel the full power of 32.000 drones firsthand at the Steam Game Festival from June 9 to June 14, 2020.

In Drone Swarm players take command of the only human FTL ship: the Argo – mankind’s last hope of survival. As Captain Carter, you control a swarm of 32.000 individually simulated drones. Use it creatively to advance your mission to find New Earth. Mastering the swarm is the key gameplay element in Drone Swarm. With the help of it, you must defend the mothership against alien attacks: build a shield wall using the drones by drawing a defensive formation to intercept any shots of your opponents. Quickly analyze the enemy’s tactics to find the best way to defend yourself, initiate a counter-attack and obliterate your opponents. Different enemies need to be countered in different ways: some are agile, others have powerful shields, unknown attacks or disabling abilities. While defending the Argo is very important, so is engaging the enemies by drawing attack paths, using physical maneuvers, or utilizing the environment to destroy their ships. To be successful in battle, players must adapt their tactics and usage of the swarm against every enemy fleet to skillfully exploit their weaknesses.

After the players have learned to control the swarm, they can explore more and more of their drones’ exciting abilities. Improvements to the mothership, repairing damage and rebuilding the swarm are also of importance to be prepared for the upcoming big battles. Drone Swarm offers players a star map in-between battles allowing them to choose their own path and how to approach the main objectives.

Watch the latest Trailer to get a first overview about the unique gameplay of Drone Swarm today!

To dive deeper into the gameplay of Drone Swarm you are also invited to watch the first Developer Diary. This is the start of a video series that will show you more about the development of the game and present a closer look into different gameplay aspects.

Would you like to play yourself?  Well, here comes a very special opportunity for you: Drone Swarm will be part of the upcoming Summer Edition of the Steam Game Festival from June 9 to 14, 2020! Take the opportunity to play an early version of the game and see if you have what it takes to control a swarm of 32k drones. You will be able to join without signing into a beta, all you need is a Steam account. On June 10 (7:00 PM CET), interested players are invited to join our developer livestream, where Julian Mautner, CEO of stillalive studios and Game Director of Drone Swarm will show off the game and answer your questions.

The upcoming sci-fi-action-RTS Drone Swarm will be available for PC on Steam End of 2020. In the upcoming weeks more details about the story of Drone Swarm will be revealed.

Focused on the lips, face and eyes in shades inspired by M·A·C’s extensive product range, allow Simmers endless customizable makeup looks.

“It’s been so much fun to digitally recreate all of my IRL makeup inspirations from endless photo shoots, master classes, pop culture, and hundreds of Fashion Weeks. With so many of us around the world staying home, our collaboration will inspire Simmers to become makeup artists expressing themselves in a way the game has never offered before. I can’t wait to see Simmers’ creations both in-game and IRL as well,” said Romero Jennings.

The possibilities for imagination and individuality are unsurpassed, and everyone is invited to challenge and play with beauty boundaries along with M·A·C and The Sims 4. Simmers are invited to tag their digital or IRL looks on social platforms using #MACxTheSims on social media, or upload their digital makeup creations to The Sims 4 Gallery here.
