Sumo Newcastle and Focus Unveil Hood: Outlaws & Legends with a Dark and Bloody Reveal Trailer

Sumo Newcastle and Focus Home Interactive are pleased to announce Hood: Outlaws and Legends, a multiplayer PvPvE heist game coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2021. Gather your team of Outlaws and attempt to steal treasure from an oppressive government in a dark and violent, medieval world. Unveiled earlier today at PlayStation’s State of Play event, watch the game’s Reveal Trailer now for a first look at this gritty universe, including a quick gameplay sneak peek.

“It is always an exciting moment when you finally get to reveal the game you have been working on behind closed doors for so long,” said Owen O’Brien, Studio Director at Sumo Newcastle. “With Hood: Outlaws & Legends, our aim was to create a dark and brutal re-imagining of the Robin Hood legend, pitting myth and superstition against man-made power and corruption. The team here in Newcastle are all passionate gamers, and over the past 16 months we believe we have created a new and fresh twist on the PvPvE genre.”

John Bert, COO of Focus Home Interactive, says: “From the first moment, we’ve been thrilled by the unique dark universe created by Sumo Newcastle. Hood’s lore, setting and gritty re-imagining of these legendary outlaws bring something truly unique to the multiplayer heist genre. We can’t wait to show more about the game in the coming months and unveil all the exciting ingredients that make it a blast to play with your online gang.”

Blood will be spilled. Riches will be stolen. Legends will be reborn.

Faced with a merciless, unchecked state, rebels and rogues from every corner battle to claim their place among legends. To win influence with an oppressed people, rival gangs now compete in daring heists to hit the wealthy where it hurts. Folk hero or gold-hungry outlaw, only the best will escape with hard-earned riches.

Outplay opponents in intense PvPvE multiplayer heists in a violent medieval world.

Two teams of players compete to execute the perfect heist, in environments patrolled by deadly AI guards. Utilise the unique skills and mystical abilities of each character, moving in stealth to steal treasures unseen or dominating through loud and brutal combat.

We are all Outlaws… but some of us will become Legends.

UnderMine Begins Deep Dive Today on Xbox One, Steam

UnderMine Begins Deep Dive Today on Xbox One, Steam

Available on Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One, Windows 10

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Aug. 6, 2020 – UnderMine, the action-adventure roguelike brimming with secrets from developer Thorium Entertainment, unearths version 1.0 today for Xbox One, Windows PC, Mac, and Linux. The game concludes a successful Early Access campaign with more than 120,000 copies sold, and debuts today on Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One and Windows 10.

UnderMine 1.0 introduces new items and encounters throughout the dangerous underground world. After mastering the core loop of hunting for gold, freeing allies to unlock upgrades, and defeating all five bosses, a door in the overworld unlocks, granting access to a final room with a mysterious boss and cinematic ending.

Heroes can dig up 20 fresh upgrades and abilities to assist their attempts, focused on supporting those who utilize frequent bombs to discover secrets and do massive damage to bosses, and armor-based builds. Constellation relics grant potent buffs that can turn the tide in dangerous encounters but only activate under certain conditions.

Winning is not the end of the journey in UnderMine. Experts looking to challenge themselves can use one of eight hexes with powerful negative effects in a standard playthrough or in the Othermine, the dungeon that serves as UnderMine’s true roguelike mode. Quality of life improvements in 1.0 include an expanded journal with detailed character attributes, stats for the current run and all playthroughs, an expanded map, and under-the-hood tweaks.

Version 1.0 represents a significant milestone in the history of UnderMine as it introduces the long-awaited endgame and the game’s console debut. This release follows five years of development and a year in Early Access with five major content updates to date. However, the mine has more gold to collect, with further content updates coming in the months and years ahead and a Nintendo Switch version now in development.

“After I quit left Relic Entertainment in 2015 and started Thorium, I didn’t know how long and winding the road would be to get UnderMine to this point where it’s finally ready for the world,” said Derek Johnson, Founder, Thorium Entertainment. “I still can’t believe this is finally happening. It’s all thanks to our fans who supported in Early Access and shaped the game into something I’m proud for everyone to check out today.”

UnderMine is available today for $19.99 on Xbox One, Windows PC, Mac, and Linux, and the Xbox Game Pass subscription service for Xbox One and Windows 10. The soundtrack is available on Steam for $4.99. UnderMine supports English, French, German, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian language options.

For more information, please visit UnderMine’s official website, check out the game on Twitter and Instagram, join the official Discord server, and follow Thorium on YouTube and Twitch

At the end of the day, Thorium knows games are meant to be fun, and if they’re not enjoying the process, their players aren’t going to enjoy the game. UnderMine is the studio’s debut title, initially released for Steam Early Access in 2019.

CRASH BANDICOOT 4: IT’S ABOUT TIME DEBUTS A NEW STYLE OF PLAY, NEW PLAYABLE CHARACTER & NEW SKINS DURING PLAYSTATION’S STATE OF PLAY EVENT

SANTA MONICA, Calif.August 6, 2020 – Crash Bandicoot is back and going “all-new” in Crash Bandicoot™ 4: It’s About Time™. Debuted today during PlayStation’s “State of Play” event is an all-new mode of play that’s being added to the platform adventure called: N. Verted mode – a Bumpa-berry fueled mirror mode which lets players traverse through neon wastelands, old timey film sets that crank up gameplay speed and other awe-inspiring new takes on Crash’s world. But that’s not all! More characters from the Crash Bandicoot™ multiverse are coming back, including Dingodile, tail-slapping his way through crates, now as a new playable character in the platform adventure games. Additionally, many zany unlockable skins will be available when the game launches on October 2, 2020. PlayStation players will also get to enjoy several additional time-shattering skins upon reaching the Dimensional Map.

To help create this mind-bending style of play for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, lead developer Toys for Bob collaborated with friends at Beenox to create the unique presentations in this mode. Properly named the

“N. Verted mode” – this bizarre take on levels takes the concept of mirror mode and phase-shifts it into entirely new dimensions, giving players alternate perspectives, sound effects, music and in some dimensions, extra additional transformations to the gameplay experience. Players will be able to master every world all over again by replaying in N. Verted mode, earning Bumpa-berries instead of Wumpa fruit, with opportunities to rack up even more rewards.

“This is the first new game in the Crash Bandicoot series in more than a decade, so we felt it was important to introduce a brand-new style of play,” said Paul Yan, Chief Creative Officer and Co-Studio Head at Toys for Bob. “We teamed up with our good friends at Beenox to help us develop N. Verted mode, and they brought all of the same passion and expertise that went into the amazing Crash™ Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.”

Crash and Coco will also be joined by new playable characters at key points on their journey to save the multiverse. In addition to already revealed Neo Cortex, enter fan-favorite Dingodile – half dingo, half crocodile – as a playable character for the first time in the platform adventure games! After Crash Bandicoot: Warped, Dingodile hung up his old flamethrower-rocket launcher combo and retired from a life of villainy. But now he’s back with unfinished business, falling through space and time into another dimension where his adventure to return home begins.

Further customizing the bandicoot experience, Toys for Bob is revealing unlockable skins for Crash and Coco that will be unlocked by players that earn gems and complete challenges throughout the game. These all-new skins are totally cosmetic, giving bandicoots dozens of costumes and wacky outfits to wear across levels while showing off their achievements, adding another level of zaniness to the N. Sane nature of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. From pirate garb, to space suits, to unicorn onesies, dinosaur scales and more – you’ll need serious skills to unlock every skin in the game! Arriving first on PlayStation are two additional sets of skins for Crash and Coco awarded automatically after players complete the second level of the game and access the Dimensional Map. These skins, dubbed “Marsupus Erectus” and “Serious Upgrade,” will be available on other platforms no earlier than December 31, 2021.

“Toys for Bob has pulled out all the stops modernizing this classic franchise, from bringing to life visually stunning worlds, to creating a wide breadth of content and new ways to play, like N. Verted mode and additional playable characters,” said Michelle Bresaw, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Activision. “We’re confident this is a sequel fans have been waiting for, staying true to the franchise, while also bringing a fresh, new experience.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be available for PlayStation® 4, PlayStation® 4 Pro, Xbox One and Xbox One X on Oct. 2, 2020. Pre-orders are live now for a suggested retail price of $59.99 in the U.S. For more information on the Crash Bandicoot franchise, please visit www.crashbandicoot.com and follow @CrashBandicoot on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Thought You “Herd” it All? XSEED Games Shares Tips and Tricks for Recently Released STORY OF SEASONS: Friends of Mineral Town

Starting over in a new town is hard enough, let alone starting over with a farm, adorable livestock and no experience. That’s why XSEED Games is celebrating this month’s launch of STORY OF SEASONS: Friends of Mineral Town, the expanded remake of the beloved 2003 Game Boy Advanced classic, with tips and tricks videos helping new farmers live their best farm life. From rounding up livestock on time to confessing your undying love to a special someone, these tips and tricks will give players an edge when moving to Mineral Town. The company shared the latest tip about rounding up livestock at the end of a hard day of farming today, and will be continuing to share new tips and tricks at 1:00PM PT through next week to prepare farmers for the coming fall harvest.

Launched on July 14, STORY OF SEASONS: Friends of Mineral Town has received praise from critics and fans alike, earning a 78 on Metacritic for the Nintendo Switch™ system version and a user score of “Overwhelmingly Positive” on Steam. The title has also become the fastest title to eclipse 100,000 units sold on a single platform for XSEED Games, achieving that milestone on the Nintendo Switch™ system within a week of launching.

About STORY OF SEASONS: Friends of Mineral Town

Summoned by Mayor Thomas to visit the farm once owned by their late grandfather, a young city-slicker returns to Mineral Town to find the once lush farmland has fallen into disrepair. Memories of idyllic summers spent in Mineral Town come rushing back and they immediately pick up their tools, vowing to restore the fields to their former glory. In their new hometown, they’ll tend the land and become part of the bustling rural community. Along the way to becoming a world class farmer, they’ll befriend townsfolk and, perhaps, even find romance.

STORY OF SEASONS: Friends of Mineral Town is a complete remake, re-envisioning the charming and occasionally mysterious world of Mineral Town with updated gameplay, graphics, and characters for the modern day. Core features of the STORY OF SEASONS series also make their return, with multi-floor mining and fan-favorite events like horse racing.

Returning the series to the simulation style that put it on the map, Friends of Mineral Town features detailed farm management by individual squares of land, while also introducing smooth, modernized controls to make managing tools and items fun and easy. Once the crops and livestock are tended to, players can spend their days catching fish in the river, mining for ore, or taking a relaxing break in the hot spring.

Developed by Marvelous Inc. and published by XSEED Games in North America, STORY OF SEASONS: Friends of Mineral Town launched July 14, 2020 on the Nintendo Switch™ system and Windows PC via Steam. The physical edition for Nintendo Switch™ is available for a suggested retail price of $49.99 at the XSEED Games Store and participating retailers. PARENTS INVESTING IN VIRTUAL PETS FOR ANXIOUS AND DEPRESSED TEENS

Amaru: The Self-care Virtual Pet

Amaru: The Self-care Virtual Pet is a game for Android and iOS that supports players in managing anxiety and depression.

— The global mental health crisis leads Raleigh, North Carolina-based game developers to invent a completely new type of game

RALEIGH, North Carolina, August 6, 2020 — Six Wing Studios, a socially-conscious game developer, has announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign to support the development of their first game, titled: Amaru: The Self-Care Virtual Pet.

Six Wing aims to empower players with focus and resilience in order to help battle anxiety and depression, which have increased dramatically in recent years. Research shows that maintaining self-care practices such as mindful breathing, meditation, and gratitude journaling stave off these diseases of despair, and Amaru is expressly designed to encourage these activities.

Mental-health advocacy groups are also taking notice of Six Wing’s approach. Guardians Mental Health says, “We cannot recommend this mobile game…enough. The self care exercises and entertainment throughout is a new chapter on mental health and gaming together.” And Take This says, “Amaru…is a fascinating game. The developers take well-established principles of self-care psychology and include them in a compelling way while simultaneously eschewing heavy engagement mechanics, encouraging the players to apply the skills in real life!”

Amaru is the first in a series of games in Six Wing’s “Fog of Maya” universe, all of which will explore mental health topics while engaging them in immersive narrative and gameplay. Six Wing’s mission is to engage and empower players by providing them with a massive ecosystem of mindful gaming experiences that improve their well-being and instigate a positive change in society.

“We’re inspired by The Center for Humane Technology in our design,” writes Six Wing’s founder Dr. Gabe Pappalardo, “We believe that our collective well-being will be at risk as long as companies profit from outrage, confusion, addiction and depression.”

Founder’s Story, Dr. Gabe Pappalardo

Six Wing’s founder, Dr. Gabe Pappalardo, is a lifelong gamer, psychologist, and mindfulness teacher who believes in using technology for positive social change and individual health. Shunning traditional addiction-based game mechanics, Dr. Pappalardo has pioneered a unique approach to game design that is both engaging and calming. He said, “The team and I are grateful for the tremendous support we have received, and eager to help the teen population conquer the mental health challenges brought on by our modern world. There is much work to be done, but we intend to show that games are an extremely useful tool in this battle.”

About Six Wing Studios

The Fog of Maya game universe is founder Dr. Gabe Pappalardo’s brain child, first conceived in August of 2017. In October of 2017, Dr. Pappalardo founded Six Wing Studios with a core team of dedicated and talented technologists and designers. The initial game release, Amaru: The Self-Care Virtual Pet, is now in beta testing and is the subject of a quickly growing Kickstarter campaign.
