Copenhagen, Denmark – September 10th, 2020 – Lovable Hat Cults whimsical puzzle platformer Journey of the Broken Circle is coming to Steam and Nintendo Switch on September 18th for €8 / $10 / £7. As an added bonus, for 3 days after launch, owners of any games published by nakana.io can claim the Switch version of Journey of the Broken Circle for free! Journey of the Broken Circle is a narrative-driven puzzle platformer about an incomplete circle yearning to become whole. As it rolls through a wondrous and hazardous land, it encounters a series of other shapes with unique personalities and skills that it uses to fill the hole left in its body. Each shape offers a unique mechanic, helping our pie-shaped person surmount obstacles and find inner peace.

As with all relationships, each character Broken Circle intermingles with offers it unique properties. Some will allow it to float into the heavens, others will cause it to cling onto surfaces, and some will cause it to tumble along with an extra spring in its step. Not all relationships were made to last however, so don’t get too attached!

“We wanted to make a game that reflected the experience of being human. So we made a game about a limbless circle. But a very human circle!” said Writer, Andrea Brasch. “We all feel insecure at times, and our relationships with others simultaneously lift us, but can also make us feel incomplete on our own. That’s never been more true than it is right now, so if our game can help people through this trying time, we know it will have been worth it.”

The goal is to collect all the Ingredients needed and bake as many delectable recipes as possible. Players are able to win amazing prizes and a brand new residential building: The Harvest Barn.

In order to bake, players are going to need to gather Ingredients. Ingredients can be found by completing quests in the Fall Event questline. Players will have 54 rush quests and one quest for every day of the event, giving a total of 75 quests. There will be two rush questlines which run parallel to one another, one with 29 quests and the other with 25 quests. Players can also earn Ingredients by completing Daily Challenges, and by collecting Incidents around their city. Players also get free Ingredients from special daily quests.

Each successful baked recipe will produce a prize, and a chance to win the Daily Special. Players will also receive stars for each successful bake, which pushes them closer to the Grand Prize. Once they filled the table with delicious treats, they’ll be rewarded with the Grand Prize. Additionally, every time players earn stars, they will also move further up the ‘League Table’. “The film 2020 deserves” invades Australia and New Zealand

Film Industry Alumni band together for UK passion project

Invasion Planet Earth is the sci-fi movie that 2020 deserves now arriving in Australia and New Zealand on iTunes.

An extraordinary passion project led by UK writer, director and editor Simon Cox, Invasion Planet Earth is an entertainingly cult cinema experience inspired by 1970’s science fiction classics including Star Wars, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica and Six Million Dollar Man. Filled to the brim with budget special effects and acting school performances, the movie smartly subverts traditional sci-fi tropes to offer the perfect Friday night-in entertainment.

Invasion Planet Earth is quickly earning itself a cult status across the UK and US with audiences lauding the small budget, indie film. The science fiction homage makes bold narrative twists to subvert the genre, but with polarising one and five star reviews it’s set to sit alongside cult movie classics including Starship Troopers, The Blob and They Live.

Originally titled Kaleidoscope Man, Invasion Planet Earth was first conceived in 1999 by director Simon Cox, from there began a 20 year journey to see it launch internationally. Cox found difficulty in securing investment to fund production initially, despite a stunning film pilot starring HBO TrueBlood’s Steven Moyer. He spent the next few years promoting his film across local UK community events and channels including ComicCon and Memorabilia Birmingham, where in 2012 he launched Invasion Planet Earth’s first ever crowdfunding campaign.

The film’s funding woes saw Simon travel to France on the promise of significant funding following a mysterious phone call. After reaching Paris, Simon found himself in a dingy bar with a proposition from two gang members to traffic money to Switzerland in return for funding. Politely declining, Simon returned to continue his crowdfunding campaign.

“I tried doing things the right way, business plans, Shark Tank, investor pitches, but after ten years of bashing my head against a wall, I just had to ask people for help. There’s probably a few family members who thought they’d see their investment returned a bit sooner than this, just hoping I still get invited ‘round for Christmas”, jokes Cox.

The initial campaign of over $100,000 AUD (£60,000 GBP) was unsuccessful in reaching its target, however it highlighted an eager community rallying around the project. Cox repositioned and launched a secondary campaign with a target of just $9,000 AUD (£5,000 GBP) which was smashed, achieving a total of over $13,000 AUD(£7,200 GBP). These funds saw the production of the iconic crowd scene from the film, with over 900 invested participants.

Across the next two years, six more crowdfunding campaigns were launched and with interest in the film growing, 20 minutes of Invasion Planet Earth was funded and shot. Between 2015 – 2019, the film attracted larger financial investors which was enough to finish the movie.

Throughout development, Cox enlisted the help of friends and industry experts to bring Invasion Planet Earth to life. School colleague Mark Robbins took the helm as co-producer, with Gordon Hickie (Holby City, Inspector Lyndley Mysteries, Redcap, Leon the Pig Farmer) as Director of Photography. The special effects in the film were the result of pro bono work from two animators, as well as 3D model maker Ian Whiston. Cox also upskilled himself in film compositing (SFX) to complete the film with Lukas Remis (Star Trek Discovery) aiding on larger CGI pieces.

Composer Benjamin Symons set the score to the film, with Alan Snelling (Sherlock, Silence of the Lambs) agreeing to dub the final soundtrack following a chance encounter with Cox. British pop icon, Toyah Willcox was also brought on board to support the film, singing the movie’s closing theme and making a cameo within the film. With the assistance of sound designer Keith Tinman for sound effects, Invasion Planet Earth was graded in Pinewood Studios (Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman, Aladdin).

Invasion Planet Earth is now available for purchase on iTunes..

Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X Launch November 10, Starting at AUD$33 a Month with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play

by Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox

Now more than ever, gaming plays an important role in our lives. As one of the greatest forms of creative expression, gaming sparks in our imagination and connects us to new worlds, stories, and our friends.

On November 10, a new generation of console gaming begins. That’s when our vision becomes reality with the most performant, immersive and compatible next-generation console gaming experiences, and the freedom to play your games with your friends, anytime, anywhere.

To empower you more than ever to jump into the next generation of gaming, today we confirmed:

  • Xbox Series X, our most powerful console ever made, and Xbox Series S, next-generation performance in our smallest console ever built at a more affordable price, launch globally November 10, pre-orders start September 22.
  • The expansion of Xbox All Access to 12 countries, offering you a next generation Xbox and 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate starting at AUD$33 a month, with no upfront costs.
  • EA Play Comes to Xbox Game Pass at no additional cost.

Bringing the Next Generation of Gaming to Everyone on Day One

We believe that access to the next generation should be available to everyone. And we know that price is an important factor for many of our fans. To complement Xbox Series X and invite more players into the next generation sooner, we built Xbox Series S—an all-digital, next-gen console designed to deliver everything that is core to next-generation gaming – faster load times, higher frame rates, and richer, more dynamic worlds – in our smallest, sleekest Xbox ever. Developing two consoles in parallel from the beginning enables us to deliver the most powerful console ever in Xbox Series X and make next-gen gaming available and affordable to more players on day one with Xbox Series S.

Empowering you with freedom and choice is core to everything we do at Xbox. In addition to the traditional option of purchasing the new generation of Xbox Series X and S at AUD$749 (Estimated Retail Price) and AUD$499 (Estimated Retail Price) respectively, we’re expanding our Xbox All Access program to 12 countries this holiday, with more to come in 2021.

Whether you’re upgrading to the newest consoles or joining the Xbox family for the first time, Xbox All Access is the easiest way to get the best of Xbox. Xbox All Access provides an Xbox Series X, or Series S, along with 24 months of the full Xbox Game Pass Ultimate experience. In total, that means you get access to:

  • The next-generation Xbox console of your choice
  • Over 100 high-quality games to play on console, including next-gen Optimised games
  • Over 100 high-quality games to play on PC
  • An EA Play membership to play more than 60 of EA’s biggest and best console and PC games
  • And over 100 games to play from the cloud

That’s all with no upfront costs and a low monthly price. Xbox Series S will be available starting from AUD$33 a month for 24 months and Xbox Series X will be available starting from AUD$46 a month for 24 months.

The Ultimate Gaming Membership Goes Beyond the Console and Keeps Getting Better

With the Xbox Game Pass community now over 10 million players, we know how critical it is that your friends can easily access and play the same games you can. And you’ve pushed us to make Xbox Game Pass the only membership with access to more than 100 games on your console, PC, and mobile.

To provide even more value, we are teaming up with Electronic Arts to provide Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC members with an EA Play membership at no additional cost starting this holiday. This means Ultimate members can enjoy EA Play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Windows 10 PCs, and Xbox Game Pass for PC members get EA Play on Windows 10. In addition to the 100+ games in the Xbox Game Pass library today, Ultimate and PC members will be able to play more than 60 of EA’s biggest and best console and PC games like FIFA 20Titanfall 2 and Need for Speed Heat, as well as titles from some of EA’s most popular franchises like BattlefieldMass EffectSkate, and The Sims. Some of the best EA Play games will also be available for Ultimate members to play on Android devices from the cloud at no additional cost.

And we’re continuing to add great games and experiences to Xbox Game Pass for PC. Game Pass for PC and the Xbox App will become generally available on September 17.

The Best Place to Play the Biggest Games

When Xbox Series X and Series S launches this November, it will herald a new generation of game experiences. Optimised games for Xbox Series X and Series S coming this year are built to take full advantage of our fastest consoles ever. On day one you will be the first to enjoy next-gen versions of the most anticipated games of the year such as Gears TacticsTetris Effect: Connected and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion. Ubisoft is known for leveraging new technologies and the power of new hardware to deliver groundbreaking games, and we think you’ll be blown away by the experience you’ll have playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion on Xbox.

Xbox Series S is designed around the same technology that will make these games and so many others look and feel incredible. In speaking to game developers, we identified the areas that are most difficult to scale effectively, including the CPU and I/O, and made it easy to include Xbox Series S for developers who are targeting their experiences for Xbox Series X.

Powered by the Xbox Velocity Architecture, you can expect the same benefits from Xbox Series S such as faster load times and Quick Resume. Xbox Series S also supports all the same next gen features including HDMI 2.1, frame rates up to 120fps, DirectX Raytracing and Variable Rate Shading. It will also support Spatial Sound, including Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Vision via streaming media apps like Disney+, Vudu and Netflix at launch. Plus: Dolby Vision support for gaming will come first to our next-gen Xbox consoles in 2021.

And the new Xbox consoles are also the only next-generation, backward-compatible consoles that allow you to play thousands of games from four generations better than ever before, and empower you to play with friends wherever you want across your console, PC, and mobile device.

The Best Generation of Gaming Yet

Gaming has evolved in the last decade to make it easier, simpler and more affordable for any player to make that first connection with a new world, a new story, or a new friend. With a family of next-gen Xbox consoles, even greater variety and value with Xbox Game Pass, and an expansion to Xbox All Access, we invite everyone to join us for this next generation of gaming.
