LG ELECTRONICS AUSTRALIA LAUNCH XBOOM GO PL SPEAKER LINEUP

LG ELECTRONICS AUSTRALIA LAUNCH XBOOM GO PL SPEAKER LINEUP

Premium audio powered by Meridian technology combines with unique design and lighting features to deliver a high-quality and portable listening experience

SYDNEY, 8th September 2020 – LG Electronics Australia (LG) today announced the arrival of the latest addition to its XBOOM Go portable Bluetooth speaker line-up, the LG XBOOM Go PL Series (models PL7, PL5 and PL2), available now in select retailers. The range is a perfect solution for premium audio on-the-go, complete with Meridian Audio technology, compact and splash-proof design, seamless connectivity and a battery life of up to 24 hours (PL7).1

LG has once again teamed up with Meridian Audio, the UK-based pioneers of high-fidelity audio, to deliver enhanced bass, clear vocals and rich treble in the company’s portable speaker range this year. The high-quality bass is driven by the inclusion of Dual Action Bass (PL7 and PL5), which uses passive radiators to pump out dynamic bass and immersive beats that users can both feel and hear.

Complementing the enhanced audio quality and adding an element of visual excitement for a group listening experience, the LG XBOOM Go PL speakers include a Multi-Colour Lighting feature (PL7, PL5). This feature employs a three-step process to detect tempo based on soundwaves, which then produces pulses of LED lighting in sync with the speed and beat of the song.

The XBOOM Go PL line-up further optimises the party experience through the Dual Play feature (PL7, PL5), which allows two of the same LG speakers to be connected at once, creating an even more immersive sound experience. What’s more? Users can connect two of the same LG XBOOM Go PL products (PL7, PL5), to act as rear channel speakers, with a compatible 2020 LG TV for an amplified viewing experience.

Furthermore, the line-up will allow users to control the speaker from a mobile device via the LG XBOOM Bluetooth app2 and pair two devices simultaneously to control a playlist without interruption.  Meanwhile, users can manage the audio connection, lighting effects, playlists, equaliser and more via the app with just a few clicks.

Finally, for added peace of mind, the IPX5 rated PL series is splash-proof. 4 The design will come in handy in settings such as outdoor meals and adventures. The compact design and up to 24-hour battery life (PL7) makes it ideal for on-the-go use, as well as at home.2

“LG Australia is passionate about providing consumers with entertainment experiences – even outside the home. Whether it’s a backyard BBQ, visit to the beach or park picnic, this summer Australians can experience a premium listening experience with the XBOOM Go portable speaker range both at home and on-the-go,” said Tony Brown, Marketing Manager for Home Entertainment at LG Electronics Australia. “Through our continued partnership with Meridian Audio, we’re pleased to offer Australians high-quality audio in a multi-functional range of speakers.”

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Review

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning

Developer: KAIKO, Big Huge Games
Publisher: THQ Nordic
Platforms: PlayStation 4Xbox OneWindows (Reviewed)
Release Date: 8 Sep 2020
Price: $39,99USD – Available Here $59.95AUD – Available Here

Overview

If there’s one game where its development could be made into a decent Netflix special, it’s Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning. Helmed by a studio run by a former MLB pitcher Curt Schilling, with creative support from Todd McFarlane and R. A. Salvatore. A stellar ensemble of creativity, turbulent development process, and a peculiar case of why the state of Rhode Island owned the rights to the game after the bankruptcy of Schilling’s development studio. In any case, I’m waiting to sell you my overly sensationalized story, Netflix. But that’s all in the past. Maybe thanks to all of that I have a remaster of the said game, humorously called Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. THQ Nordic sure likes to put a comedic spin in the names of its game remasters.

Story

Re-Reckoning is set in the Faelands, one of the Kingdoms of Amalur and home to the immortal Fae of the Summer and Winter Courts. Immortality doesn’t mean that they cannot die, it means that their essence will be reborn in another body, repeating the past, endlessly. Amalur is also home to a species of supernaturally-gifted people called “Fateweavers.” Fateweavers can look into an individual’s future and tell what they see, often with special attention paid to the individual’s eventual death. Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning follows the story of a mortal known as the “Fateless One”, who, having died before the game’s outset, is revived in the experimental Well of Souls by the gnomish scientist Fomorous Hugues. After escaping from the Well of Souls, the Fateless One (having no memory of their life before their death) is briefed on the inner turmoils of Amalur, the political intrigues and where is his role in all of that chaos by a Fateweaver called Agarth. Agarth is simultaneously puzzled and pleased that he cannot read the future of Fateless One, suggesting that he might be the only one without a predetermined end. This power also allows the Fateless One to alter the fates of others, as Agarth discovers when the Fateless One saves him from his fated death at the hands of a native creature. And just like that, with your unique power and a huge arsenal of bladed weapons, you set your sight on the vast territory of Amalur to see whose fates you can alter – and possibly save the world. It would be an RPG without one world-saving plot, right?

Gameplay

Even during the release of the original, the game received praise for its engaging combat system. On the surface, it is a simple hack n slash combat where you can occasionally throw in a spell as you melee your way through enemies. But it is the simple flow of combat and responsiveness that makes it all shine. Your melee arsenal is made of daggers, swords, and hammers. Daggers are perfect for sneaking behind enemies back and dealing huge amounts of damage (as long as you’re undetected), sword is your “play it safe” pick when you just want to push through the horde and, as imagined, hammers are rather slow to swing but they tend to deal heavy damage. After every level up, you can assign points to be more proficient with those weapons, learn new spells, or having a higher success rate when persuading others in conversations. You can also learn to lockpick better, be a master alchemist or a blacksmith as you evolve. This will all take time and loads of exp, so what is the best way to earn them? Besides the obvious (playing through the story, duh), it would be wise do delve deeper into a hundred little side quests sprinkled through Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. What I like about the combat is that the enemies won’t just stand around as you attack one from the group (as it is sadly a common thing in older RPG games), instead they will all gang up on you from all sides. The smart tactic is to eliminate one or two from a distance with a spell or a stealth attack, before engaging with the rest.

Visuals

After a couple of hours of playing, I could see why they went with such a joke title in the remaster. Cause the remaster in terms of visuals is a joke as well, just not a one that lands. Most objects and environments received a facelift, there is now higher resolution support, but other than that I was really struggling to find something that stands out in this remaster. There is still a touch of shared brown palette throughout the game, open areas will often feel washed out but we can chalk that up to the infamous generic shooter syndrome from a decade ago. To be honest, I expected a bit more for this price tag.

Audio

There is one name from the development ensemble that I haven’t mentioned above. Could it be that I saved the best for last? Who knows. In any case, the man behind the musical score in Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is none other than Grant Kirkhope. The nerds reading this will recognize him as someone behind the music of Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, GoldenEye 007, and Perfect Dark. His presence here is more than evident. Every main area has a specific music theme that goes with it and sooner or later, you’ll know where you are not by looking at the map just by listening to the background music. And when you don’t pay attention to the music, you’ll certainly be aware of all the background noise in the forests and caves. You are never alone since that inconspicuous sound could just be an enemy preparing an ambush for you.

Overall

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is a welcome trip to the past. Despite the age between the original game and this remaster, the combat system is still as good as ever. There is great freedom in how you build and evolve your character and I have to mention a horde of side quests if you want to check out every nook and cranny of Amalur. And that’s only regarding the base game! The remaster comes with two huge story DLC, “Teeth of Naros”, and “Legend of Dead Kel”. In total, don’t be surprised if your playtime clocks a bit over 100 hours once you’re done with everything. There is also a 50% discount on the release day or the owners of the original and THQ Nordic has a completely new expansion called Fatesworn in the works, set to release in 2021.

FABIO ROVAZZI STARS IN CALL OF DUTY® MODERN WARFARE AND WARZONE™

FABIO ROVAZZI STARS IN CALL OF DUTY® MODERN WARFARE AND WARZONE™

Passionate gamer and long-time fan of the Call of Duty® saga, Fabio Rovazzi – singer, author, actor and director – has inspired a playable character in ‘Call of Duty: Warzone’ and ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. ‘Morte’ is the codename of the operator to whom Rovazzi gave his voice and appearance. Morte is a former member of the Italian special forces and is portrayed in-game with an Old-West inspired look that reflects his passion for Italian-Western movies.

Milan 7 September 2020 – Starting tomorrow, players from all over the world have an additional playable operator in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play first person shooter set in Modern Warfare’s universe with over 75 million registered players. The operator’s codename is Morte and his voice and appearance are those of Fabio Rovazzi, the multi-faceted 26-year-old Italian creator and artist. During his career, Rovazzi has been a singer, an actor and a film director. Fabio is a long-term fan of the Call of Duty franchise.

The new operator is a former soldier of the Italian special force ‘1° Regiment Col. Moschin’ and his appearance uses photogrammetry to realistically portray Fabio Rovazzi, with the addition of some very peculiar features. The operator’s look is inspired by the ‘Italian Western’ film genre, which during the 1960’s and the 1970’s relaunched the western in Italy thanks to extremely talented and famous directors, who included well-known actors in memorable films. The classic soldier-like beret is replaced by a cowboy hat and a stylish poncho. Add the iconic big and bushy beard to Fabio’s face and animate his hands with a gun spinning move, and there you have Morte coming to life in all his glorious badassery.

“Being a character in Call of Duty has always been a secret and impossible dream of mine,” says an enthusiastic Rovazzi, “and there are no words to describe the excitement of the opportunity to give my voice and my appearance to an operator. I also love the character tribute to the Italian Western tradition. When I think that millions of players will be able to play with my character, I feel flattered and satisfied beyond imagination”.

Morte’s background is a very intriguing one. The character interpreted by Rovazzi, whose real name is Sergio Sulla, was a kid from Salerno with a passion for Western-films and the dream of becoming a law enforcer. However, his desires were crushed by his hard and gall temper, leading him into the juvenile justice system for having ‘energetically defended’ some unfortunate people from local bullies. Being cut out from the law enforcer road, he enlisted as a volunteer in the Col. Moschin special force, serving in Iraq and Libya. But after some time, even the Army resulted unsuitable for Sergio, who is now the Warcom operator named Morte, a nickname symbolizing the ultimate tribute to the ‘dead’ dream of the bounty hunter who wanted to be a sheriff.

‘Morte’ has now joined Captain Price, Ghost, Gaz and the other legendary Call of Duty operators.

Call of Duty®: WarzoneTM and has reached over 75 million players to date.

Call of Duty®: WarzoneTM is free to download now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Internet connection required, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare full game sold separately.

Sydney, Australia – September 7th, 2020 – Milestone have announced that RIDE 4, the latest chapter of its beloved franchise dedicated to all two-wheel lovers, will be available on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X on January 21st, 2021. Both next gen consoles’ specifications are incredibly inviting for a racing franchise like RIDE, where players expect to experience the excitement of riding a 200 HP bike in fast paced and adrenaline-filled races all over the world. Players will be now able to experience a smoother and shining gameplay, at 60FPS with a resolution up to 4K. That means they will enjoy their beloved bikes with the highest quality for shaders and textures, with a never seen before level of detail both for bikes and environments. Also, their riding experience will be extremely more precise, satisfying and natural. Thanks to the extra power of next gen consoles, all races both online and offline will be now even more compelling, with 20 riders competing for the victory!

On PS5™ RIDE 4 fans will experience the power of the PS5 DualSense advanced haptic feedback, to let players feel their vehicles’ vibrations just like when they ride it on the streets.Gas and brakes’ levers will have their own resistance to transmit the same feeling of their real-life counterparts. Thanks to the new SSD, loading times will be significantly reduced. That means shorter waiting time before any race, but also a better gameplay experience during races. That is because it will enable a much faster streaming of textures, allowing us to better immerse players into our environments while they speed at 300 km/h.

In RIDE 4, Milestone partnered with two of the most iconic brands of the two-wheel world, Yamaha Motor and Bridgestone. Yamaha Motor, Milestone’s main partner for RIDE4, will be also featured on the Steelbook of the boxed RIDE 4 Special Edition, dedicated to the iconic Yamaha R1 2020 that will also allow access to the Season Pass.

Paolo Pavesio, Marketing and Motorsport Director, Yamaha Motor Europe commented: “with Milestone and RIDE 4 we have taken great steps not only towards our fans and customers but towards the motorcycle lovers as a whole. For us as a company is important to nurture the passion and open our family to all those whose hearts rev together with ours, using on-line experience as an entry door to “real” motorcycle or either to stretch the off-line experience to moments when you have to stay at home. At the end, it is simply a different expression of the same emotion, therefore it is no coincidence that Yamaha is among the pioneers of the eSports world, injecting our signature racing DNA.

In this important year when we are celebrating 65th anniversary, we have chosen Milestone – a partner that shares our values and vision of innovation and adrenaline – in order to “bring the game to the next level” and proof that on one side we are proud of our heritage, but on the other we are looking forward to the next 65 years… at least! To be honest, I cannot wait to get soon a copy of RIDE 4 in my console…”.

As a global leader in mobility solutions, Bridgestone has always embraced the spirit of the true riders, supporting them with its products and technology, whether they are travelling with their bike, enjoying a beautiful scenery or racing at 300 km/h on a track”,  commented Nico Thuy, Head of Motorcycle Business at Bridgestone EMIA.“This partnership with Milestone and RIDE 4, gives us the opportunity to get even closer with this passionate community, letting them experience our vast portfolio of premium motorcycle tyres even when they are competing online or simply relaxing with a ride in the virtual world”.

GRAVEN, 3D Realms’ Spiritual Successor to Hexen 2, Revealed and Launches in 2021

GRAVEN, 3D Realms’ Spiritual Successor to Hexen 2, Revealed and Launches in 2021

Four-Player Online and Local Multiplayer Available at Launch

AALBORG, Denmark — September 5, 2020 — GRAVEN, the dark-fantasy action-adventure FPS co-published by 3D Realms and 1C Entertainment with development by Slipgate Ironworks, launches on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2021.

Revealed at Realms Deep 2020, GRAVEN delves into a gruesome medieval world of deities and monstrosities as a disgraced Priest of the Orthogonal Order. When a heretical member of the Order sacrifices the Priest’s adoptive daughter, the Priest lethally retaliates in a bout of righteous fury. Tried and found guilty by his brothers and now exiled to the burning sands, he closes his eyes for one last prayer, for peace. The Creator speaks to him directly: “You will have to earn your peace.”

Heed the Creator by hunting down the foul heretical sects responsible for conjuring plagues and twisting the natural order of the seasons. Blending action, exploration, and puzzle-solving, GRAVEN takes cues from classic shooters, immersive sims, and action RPGs alike. Journey across three expansive, open-ended regions, and scour the lands to purge evil.

Carefully observe a reactive world to find the way: with a journal, the player drives the exploration instead of following waypoints. Listen to townsfolks’ woes and slay the monsters responsible for their torment. Banish over thirty distinct enemies from plagued madmen to swamp beasts with powerful sorceries such as wild blasts of lightning and scorching rays of flame. Solve environmental puzzles with those same powers, altering the world with spells.

Wield destructive conventional weaponry, including magic staves and wrist-mounted crossbows. Find hidden gold to upgrade weapons and spells at blacksmiths and alchemists. Return to previously-plundered areas with new abilities to uncover secrets and entirely new areas. With more than 30 weapons and spells, GRAVEN encourages experimentation. Play solo, with one friend in split-screen co-op, or even in a party of four online for complete arcane chaos.

GRAVEN began as a game we had often dreamed of,” said Frederik Schreiber, vice president of 3D Realms and Game Director on Graven. “‘What would a spiritual successor to a Dark Fantasy series such as Hexen, have looked like if it was made in 1998 in the original Unrealengine?’ We think the answer is GRAVEN. We hope you do too.”

GRAVEN will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2021. For more information please explore the official websites for GRAVEN, 3D Realms, 1C Entertainment and Slipgate Ironworks. It has been over nine years since The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya franchise appeared to have came to an end in its final light novel but it looks like that will no longer be the case. The author, Nagaru Tanigawa, and Kadokawa announced that a new novel called The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya will be released on November 25th and will tell a brand new story with three short stories collected into one novel.

To go along with this news Yen Press announced that they will be releasing The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya digitally in English on the same day it releases in Japan, giving fans a chance to immediately dive into the story with an eventual retail print release planned for sometime in the future. The company went on to say that they will also be re-printing the long out of print light novels of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya under their Yen-On label which will please many as the only physical versions currently available are high-priced used versions. Details as to when to expect these releases will be released sometime in the future.

Crunchyroll and Adult Swim Announce Production of New Original Anime Series Shenmue

Crunchyroll and Adult Swim Announce Production of New Original Anime Series Shenmue

September 5, 2020 – At Virtual Crunchyroll Expo, the first-ever digital edition of Crunchyroll’s yearly flagship anime convention, Crunchyroll announced that it will partner again with Adult Swim on the production of Shenmue, an original anime series based on the beloved SEGA game franchise. This latest Crunchyroll and Adult Swim Production will stream worldwide outside of Japan and mainland China on Crunchyroll and air on Adult Swim’s Toonami in the domestic United States.

“The first Shenmue video game was released more than twenty years ago and we’re so excited to be working again with Adult Swim to bring this franchise to life through anime,” said Sarah Victor, head of development, Crunchyroll. “We’re eager to show our fans more of this action-packed adventure series as we move through production.”

Shenmue is an anime series with 13 episodes, following the journey of Ryo Hazuki. After he witnesses his father’s murder at the family dojo, Ryo dedicates his life to finding the man responsible – a mission that takes him from the streets of Yokosuka, Japan to the sprawling metropolis of Hong Kong, and beyond. Soon he’ll learn that larger, mystical forces are at play as he trains to become the ultimate martial artist in his quest for revenge.

“The world of Shenmue is fascinating and unique, and we are so excited to partner with Yu Suzuki to bring his epic creation to anime- and make a kick-ass martial arts epic!” said Jason DeMarco, svp/creative director on-air for Adult Swim.

Shenmue, a Crunchyroll and Adult Swim Production, is being directed by Sakurai Chikara (season two of One Punch Man, Naruto) with animation production by Telecom Animation Film, and production management provided by Sola Entertainment. Video game creator Yu Suzuki is also onboard as an Executive Producer. Additional Crunchyroll and Adult Swim Productions include the recently-announced Fena: Pirate Princess and BLADE RUNNER – BLACK LOTUS.
