Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Out Now on Nintendo Switch™, PC, and PlayStation®4

A Spoiled Princess Reclaims her Birthright as Harvest Goddess in Action Platformer and Rice-Farming Simulation Hybrid from Edelweiss and XSEED Games

Torrance, Calif. – November 10, 2020 – XSEED Games, the independent-minded publishing brand of Marvelous USA, Inc., is delighted to announce that the long-awaited action/simulation game Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin has launched on the Nintendo Switch™ system, Windows PC via Steam, and PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. The unforgettable story of Princess Sakuna, a harvest goddess banished to an untamed island with a group of humans, has been brought to life by developer Edelweiss. Acclaimed for their work on the shoot ‘em up Astebreed, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin presents a return to the combat-focused platforming roots of their earlier title Fairy Bloom Freesia, featuring refined action gameplay mixed with unique rice-farming simulation.

Game Director Nal and CG Artist Koichi of Edelweiss remarked:

“Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin has been in development for over 5 years, and we couldn’t have done it without our partners at XSEED Games and Marvelous, Inc. supporting our artistic vision. We’re grateful for the positive support we’ve received from media and fans and hope that Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin meets their expectations.” To celebrate the launch of Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, XSEED Games has posted localized versions of developer blogs by Nal and Koichi on the XSEED Games website.

About Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin

Developed by Edelweiss, the team behind acclaimed indie darling Astebreed, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin combines side-scrolling action with deep crafting and rice cultivation. Players take on the role of Sakuna, a spoiled harvest goddess banished to a dangerous island with a group of outcast humans. As she explores the beautiful yet forbidding environments of the island, she will also find a home in a mountain village, proving herself worthy of her title by harvesting rice and bettering the lives of humanity. With each successful rice crop, Sakuna grows more powerful for her daily battles against the demons that have overrun the island.

Sakuna is part of a pantheon of gods and demons in a world inspired by traditional Japanese history and culture but featuring many unique twists. In addition to serving as a love letter to Japanese mythology, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is an ode to the artistry of cultivating rice and an engrossing simulation of the craft behind the agriculture.

“It’s been an honor to be a part of Edelweiss’ journey in bringing Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin to launch,” said Kenji Hosoi, Executive Vice President at XSEED Games. “We’ve had incredible support from our platform partners, fans, and critics alike and are overjoyed to be able to share Sakuna’s world with the public now.”

The Closed Beta Starts Today Bringing The “Battle for Moscow” Campaign

Gaijin Entertainment and Darkflow Software studio announce that their military online shooter Enlisted is available now on the Xbox Series X|S and PC. Enlisted allows players to control WWII infantry squads, tanks, or aircraft and is distributed as a Game Preview title. A closed Beta Test is also available for PC players registered on the official website – Enlisted.net

Enlisted is divided into campaigns and the first one covers the fierce defence of Moscow at the end of 1941 and in the beginning of 1942.

Dozens of squads with different specialisations participate in Enlisted battles simultaneously. Players control one soldier directly while other soldiers in the squad are controlled by AI that obeys a player’s orders. This ensures maximum density and spectacularity in a battle while maintaining high contribution from each participant. Infantry, armoured vehicles, and aircraft battle together and each player can experience several roles in just one game session.

“Founders packs” purchase is required to gain access to either the Enlisted Closed Beta Test on PC or Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S. Founders packs contain a premium squad and exclusive submachine guns for the corresponding nation that can be used in the “Battle for Moscow” campaign. The USSR pack grants access to soldiers of the 75th Infantry Regiment in the 5th Infantry Division of the Red Army for the Soviet Armed Forces and the PPK-41 submachine gun, while a Germany Founders pack allows participation as the 449th Infantry Regiment in the 144th Infantry Division for the Wehrmacht forces with use of the MP 41 submachine gun.

Closed beta test players can try various squads of assault troopers, snipers, machine gunners, flamethrowers, mortars, anti tank squads, engineers, radio operators, tankers, and pilots. Dozens of realistically modelled light and heavy firearms, as well as tanks, wheeled armoured vehicles, fighters, and attack aircraft are already available in the game. All of which are historically accurate and were actually used in the relevant period of World War II.

Player feedback on the Closed Beta Test version will be used to help the development of the subsequent campaigns, “Normandy Invasion”, “Battle for Berlin” and “Tunisia”.
