Designed from the ground up with comfort, health and style in mind, the all-new Razer Iskur is the first ever gaming chair from Razer, redefining gaming chairs with a one-of-a-kind external lumbar support system, high density foam cushioning, stylish multi-layered synthetic leather and more.

The Iskur was designed to address the need for superior ergonomics in today’s gaming chairs, with its unique external lumbar support system that offers 26 degrees of customisation, to help improve gamer posture during long gaming sessions. The lumbar support system works to reduce aches and strains by supporting the full curvature of the spine, specifically the mid and lower regions where tension builds up the most. The Iskur also features high-density foam cushions for additional support and comfort, a 4D armrest system that can be customised for optimal reach, and a memory foam neck pillow for additional support at the top of the spine.

The Iskur sports a multi-layered black synthetic leather upholstery, accented with Razer green stitching for a pop of colour. The signature green Razer triple-headed snake logo adorns the headrest, with Razer’s motto, “For Gamers. By Gamers.” printed along the seat. The cushioning is finished with a distinctive snake scale design to create a unique look that is definitively Razer.

The all-new Razer Tomahawk Gaming Chassis is the first true Razer desktop experience designed by Razer for PC gaming enthusiasts. The chassis is available in two distinct sizes: The Tomahawk ATX, a standard mid-tower case, and the Tomahawk Mini-ITX, a small form factor case.

The Tomahawk Gaming Chassis features full tempered glass side panels to showcase the desktop components on one side and the elegant cable management solution on the other. The two panels open from a detachable rear hinge that gives builders the ability to quickly build, change and perfect their system. The chassis features a matte black metal frame and an all-black front panel accentuated with a luminous Razer green logo. The bottom is lined with Razer Chroma RGB lighting which can be controlled and customised via the Razer Synapse 3 software, providing a more immersive experience for those integrated into the Razer ecosystem.

Engineered with airflow in mind, the Tomahawk Gaming Chassis can support up to a 360mm radiator along the front and up to two 140mm fans along the top for maximum cooling performance. The built-in cable management system keeps unruly cables tucked away and out of sight to prevent the obstruction of air, maximise usable space, and create an overall cleaner aesthetic.

Alongside the Sneki Snek plushie, Razer announced their collaboration with Conservation International, a global environmental organisation whose mission is to empower societies to responsibly and sustainably care for nature and the wellbeing of humanity. For every Sneki Snek plushie sold, a contribution will be made to Conservation International to protect ten trees in places where Conservation International operates. With the help and support of fans everywhere, Razer and Conservation International can easily crush that goal.

Nexomon: Extinction Review

Nexomon: Extinction

Developer: VEWO Interactive
Publisher: PQube Games
Platforms: PC, Switch, PlayStation 4 (Reviewed), Xbox One
Release Date: Available Now
Price: $19.99 – Available Here

Overview

Collecting and battling creatures has been something of a mainstay in RPGs throughout the years to the point that numerous games from popular developers have tried their own hands at creating a unique experience. That being said, of all these games a certain Nintendo property reigns supreme but now 2020 has seen the largest insurgence of monster gathering and fighting games perhaps ever. The latest game to try and put its own spin on things happens to be Nexomon: Extinction and rather than sitting on a single platform, the game has landed on nearly everything available so now that it has been released, is it worth picking up?

Story

In the first few minutes, Nexomon: Extinction may not seem too different from the series everyone is thinking about as players wake up to find the fellow children in town excited as it happens to be the day they all become “tamers” and obtain their first Nexomon. What quickly becomes apparent however is that things aren’t as cheerful as one may hope, players start as an orphan alongside others who wish to join the Tamers Guild in an effort to make a better life for themselves. Although not blatantly stated, the player’s situation is most likely a direct result of how the world in Nexomon: Extinction is exactly that, at the brink of extinction.

While many have grown to love Nexomon and the creatures themselves aren’t normally aggressive towards humans, the rise of Tyrants, vicious dragon type Nexomon, and more dangerous elements have risen up and battle against the Tamers Guild with the world caught in the middle of it all. As such, players find their first venture into the woods immediately interrupted by a massive dragon Nexomon that nearly kills them, only to be given their starting Nexomon by a mysterious tamer who vanishes into thin air and then saved by the ghost of a long dead tamer who appears to be much more famous than she lets on.

This style of darker storytelling immediately helps grab the player’s attention in a way that other games in the genre haven’t in years. Nexomon: Extinction isn’t entirely a story of doom and gloom but this heavy start continues to weave a satisfying web of storylines that keep things interesting throughout the entire campaign, delivering a more intriguing and enjoyable single player experience than one could have possibly imagined from what many may initially pass off as a knock-off.

Another noteworthy element of how Nexomon: Extinction stands out from its competitors is how well-written many of the characters are and the sheer amount of comedy that is spread throughout the game. The game is incredibly self-aware of itself and breaks the fourth wall frequently by either poking fun at the situation players have found themselves in or the genre as a whole. This style of humor works amazingly well given how familiar most players will be with the genre and allows for them to experience something completely out of the ordinary from the standard fair for a monster collecting game.

Gameplay

In many ways, Nexomon: Extinction plays similar to how fans of the genre are used to as players will be limited to carrying six Nexomon with them at a time while exploring a 2D world featuring various towns, routes between towns, optional caves and side-paths, and other locations all of which are dotted with patches of grass where wild Nexomon reside and other Tamers willing to do battle with the player’s team. What is different happens to be how these battles play out as well as the way catching Nexomon actually works as things are a bit more complicated than simply tossing a trap at a weakened opponent.

Whenever the player enters a battle, be it against another Tamer or a wild Nexomon, they will do battle with their own party. In something of a more limiting twist, all of the Nexomon in the game are single type creatures which limits some of the standard versatility monster battling fans may be familiar with and targeting various type weaknesses and strengths can play a solid role in defeating the enemy, though it would be nice if there clearer indicators of what types are effective and weak against one another.

Whereas stronger moves are generally limited to only being able to be used a certain number of times, Nexomon: Extinction pust a different spin on things by giving every Nexomon a stamina meter that will be depleted every time a move is used. Players can sacrifice a turn to allow their Nexomon to recover some stamina or swap them out for another party member, making sure that the player tries to keep a more balanced party. This style of combat does mean things are a bit slower and also more difficult in nature, but this style of battling is something of a breath of fresh air in what has become a stagnant system over the years however it would also be nice if there were a way to speed things up a bit more given how long some battles can be at times. This is especially true thanks to how quick other Tamers can be willing to participate in a rematch after they’ve already been defeated since, while it is nice to always be able to fight a competent AI team, being able to do so less than a half hour after already battling that same NPC is a bit much.

As for catching the over three hundred and eighty Nexomon available in the game, players will find that the system is once again familiar but a bit more complicated in an effort to set itself apart. When battling a creature players can toss a Nexomon Trap at them at any point and the capture percentage is displayed with a number of variables that range from how hurt the Nexomon is, how tired it is, whether it’s been fed a treat or not, if it has any status ailments, the type of trap being used, and more. This, plus a little quick time event every toss, makes catching a Nexomon a more involved process. Speaking of these Nexomon, players will find that while there is a ton of variety on offer here, there is a little bit of magic lost with some starter types when a few can almost immediately be caught within the first hour of gameplay. Players will also find that they can equip Nexomon with up to four “runes” that provide various boosts to their party including a post-launch “exp share” style rune that makes grinding easier.

As mentioned before, players will find the world of Nexomon: Extinction quite an open experience that only rarely puts a roadblock in the player’s way in an effort to keep them from wandering too far off the beaten path and some of these paths have some great rewards to them and the colorful cast of characters that players can interact with in the world also offer a variety of side-quests that players can also undertake that also offer some fun little rewards and end up being entirely optional should the player simply want to continue the story. It is worth noting that Nexomon: Extinction does not feature any form of online play or even trading which is a bit of a surprise so players will want to take note of this as it is a single player only experience.

Visuals & Audio

By focusing on a 2D presentation Nexomon: Extinction flourishes with a vibrantly colorful and well designed world that fits right in with the fact that there are constant battles across the land. Most important NPCs feature well-detailed character portraits while important events are even given nicely drawn CG scenes. As for the Nexomon themselves, there are a few duds in the mix but for the most part they are each unique feeling in their own way and players will be eager to try and catch every one they might come across and see what it might evolve into.

As far as the soundtrack goes, the game features a solid set of background music that fits well with the genre of game that Nexomon: Extinction happens to be but it is worth noting that there is no voice acting of any kind which is a bit disappointing given the level of writing the team could have worked with.

Overall

Nexomon: Extinction feels like something of a love letter to the older creature battling RPGs that takes many features that fans of the genre have grown familiar with and makes them a bit more complex to keep things interesting while also offering a more difficult experience that occasionally borders on being a too bit drawn-out for its own good. Thankfully these unique gameplay elements are accompanied by some great storytelling with a solid comedic streak running through it. This makes the game one that may not be ready to stand up to giants quite yet but is certainly on its way and one that players will want to check out, especially if they are fans of the creature gathering genre though don’t expect anything outside of the single player story once everything is said and done.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Review

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time

Developer: Toys for Bob
Publisher: Activision
Platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4 (Reviewed)
Release Date: October 2, 2020
Price: $59.99 USD – Available Here $99.95 AUD – Available Here

Overview

Crash Bandicoot was a mascot that wasn’t missed until he disappeared. While his original developers (Naughty Dog) went on to great success, seeing constant cameos from Spyro made gamers yearn for that famous PlayStation platformer of yesterday. Toys for Bob are ready to scratch your itch for Crash with a proper follow-up, appropriately titled Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Yep, the name spells it out, but can Crash still go, or was he better off left in the last decade? Let’s find out.

Story

This is one of those quirky stories that honestly is cute and fun, existing to get the player from point A to point B. When Neo Cortex and N. Tropy cause a rip in time, Crash, Coco, and other allies new and old must band together to stop them. It’s fun, its light, and it feels just like the Crash we all know and love.

Personally, I do not remember too much about the fine details of the older narratives for Crash titles, even though I only recently revisited them. Crash 4 I’m expecting about the same with, as it kind of plays like a cartoon where it may not be something that sticks with you, but it absolutely is a treat to watch as those cutscenes roll forward.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Crash 4 was absolutely one area I was most concerned about. Thankfully, Toys for Bob did a great job of modernizing an old favorite as this game, no matter how many gimmicks are attached still feels like a classic Crash title. The run, jump, twist, and bounce elements still are in-tact and feel great, and older players should feel right at home if they just bounced back into the franchise after 3 so long ago. Several new mechanics also work their way in, and that is where some may be a little bit hesitant to dive in.

Crash (or whoever you may be playing as) can now wear masks which gives him a special ability. One of the first is the ability to swap out platforms and objects in and out at the tap of a button, even while in mid-air. This basically adds a layer to the standard platforming, and is just in the game enough to make its inclusion feel important. That is basically what all of these masks and abilities do, which is offer required, yet still very fitting techniques to master a level, without really making the game feel weighed down by gimmick due to the limitations. What we get is a title that offers a ton of replay value through collectibles and completion efforts, with the extra masks offering new and more challenging twists on levels, even after one has cleared an area.

There already is a lot of content in the game, but the addition of collectible tapes which act as Flashbacks, time trials, and so on add immensely to the shelf life of the game, but even with everything, I still do wonder if it is enough to warrant the full price retail price-tag. Sure, Crash is no slouch to gamers and has proved his worth, but I feel that even with all its polish, Crash 4 just feels like it should have a slightly lesser price-tag for the game it is. Sure, it’s still wonderful, but there were times the constant parade of visual unlockables and eye candy made me feel that there was just a little more padding here to make it fit that larger price mark.

Visuals & Audio

Crash 4 looks awesome. Animations are fluid and look clean, and the character models probably look as good here as they ever did before. The stage designs are also nice, as are the transitions between the styles of platforming the player partake in on the fly. There is just something visually pleasing about a platformer that has this much color, with such clean visuals overall. Crash 4 may not be the Crash game to reinvent the series, but it definitely looks the part, with some fluid animations that never slow despite all of the chaos that can happen within the game.

The music is fine, and I enjoyed it. The voice acting and attention to detail that was put into the sound department is truly the star here. Stages have such a warm atmosphere due to the little effects that continuously chirp. From the crack of a crate to the screech of Crash or Coco, this well-meaning experience charms with its chipper audio and overall boisterous personality.

Overall

Crash 4: It’s About Time isn’t as much of a rebirth as it is a reminder. The Crash games were a lot of fun and many were able to get into platformers through this franchise alone. I mean, I knew a ton of kids who didn’t get Mario and this bandicoot was that kind of intro to them into that market. While I do not feel that Crash 4 does enough to knock your socks off, it is a solid and strong release that gives players exactly what they have been asking for. More. More of Crash. More of that classic style of platforming that only exists in this franchise, which should easily be looked as a new entry point for the namesake to continue on. Crash 4 is a great sequel that is sure to cement a legacy that still has a bright future ahead of it.

Psychological Horror The Medium Launches December 10th for Xbox Series X|S and PC

A New Video Showcases The Medium’s Terrifyingly Beautiful Dual-Reality World Inspired by Zdzisław Beksiński’s Art; a New Free Track by Arkadiusz Reikowski Available to Download from Steam Today

KRAKOW, POLANDOctober 9, 2020 – Bloober Team today announces that its third-person psychological horror game The Medium will be released on December 10th, 2020 as one of the first titles to launch exclusively for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The game will also be available on the PC – pre-orders are now live on Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store.

The creative minds behind such acclaimed titles as Blair Witch, Observer and Layers of Fear debut a brand new video that gives you a closer look at the dual-reality world, showcasing the game’s dark art style inspired by Polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński, and his dystopian surrealist work. Bloober Team’s artists have closely studied Beksiński’s paintings to bring the visually distinct and nightmarish atmosphere to life, pairing it with an evocative score from Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka to create a truly eerie experience.

As an added bonus, Bloober Team is giving away a new track, Marianne’s Theme by Arkadiusz Reikowski, from the original soundtrack as a free download via Steam, to prepare players for a disturbing journey into the spirit world. Download and listen here via Steam.

The Medium pre-orders are live now for both the Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam on www.themediumgame.com, priced $49.99 / €49.99 / £41.74 with a 10% discount for players who order before December 10th via Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store. Players who pre-order via Steam will receive The Medium Original Soundtrack featuring a ‘dual’ score soundtrack by legendary composer Akira Yamaoka, of Silent Hill fame, and Bloober Team’s Arkadiusz Reikowski, and The Art of The Medium digital artbook.

The Medium gives players access to two visually distinct worlds simultaneously – the real world and the spirit world through dual-reality gameplay that has been patented by Bloober Team. Players will find themselves in the body of Marianne, a medium hounded by visions, living and interacting across the two worlds through her psychic energy.

Developed and published by Bloober Team, The Medium is rated “M for Mature” by the ESRB and PEGI 18 and will launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam on December 10th, 2020.
