30XX Leaps into Action Today on Steam Early Access

POST-HUMAN EARTH – 17 Feb. 2021 – 30XX, the new Megaroguelike action platformer from Batterystaple Games, dashes onto Steam Early Access today for Windows PC.

Batterystaple returns to Steam Early Access following the success of 20XX, which sold more than 200,000 copies and was named one of Valve’s Top Early Access Graduates of 2017. Bolstered by that experience, 30XX debuts with a growing stockpile of content for the community to jump into and help shape as the game advances toward its 1.0 release.

Equipped with a range of game types to enjoy, 30XX arrives with the roguelike Arcade Mode and permadeath-free Mega Mode campaigns that can be tackled solo or in co-op both locally and online. There’s also the Maker Mode to explore. Empowering fans with the same tools used to develop the game, this stage editor allows anyone to create custom obstacle courses using every level theme in 30XX and share their handiwork with the world.

30XX launches with six stages for its heroes to run, leap, slash, and dash across in style. Harness Nina’s dynamic Power Fusion system or Ace’s versatile Techniques to master the challenges posed by Penumbra’s projectile-reflecting surfaces, the timing-based puzzles of Clockzone, and everything in between. Take down mighty robot bosses to unlock distinct new abilities for each protagonist to mix into their arsenals and wield in the fights ahead.

No matter the battlefield, the thirty-first-century experience shines with stunning hi-bit pixel art from Rogue Legacy and Chasm art director Glauber Kotaki. Meanwhile, an original soundtrack from returning 20XX composer Brandon Ellis propels it forward with pulse-pounding chiptunes.

“Early Access is an amazing way for us to take the community behind the scenes and let our fans leave their fingerprints on the final experience,” said Chris King, founder, Batterystaple. “Players had an indelible impact on making 20XX the success it is today. The team has upped our game this time around in every way imaginable, and we look forward to where this process takes us now that 30XX is out in the wild on Steam Early Access.”

30XX is available on Steam Early Access for $19.99 with English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese language support. The 30XX soundtrack is also available to purchase for $9.99.

DRUIDS COMING TO BALDUR’S GATE 3 IN ITS BIGGEST PATCH YET

Larian Studios revealed the new Druid class amongst a huge number of changes and features coming to Baldur’s Gate 3 with their upcoming Patch 4: Nature’s Power, as well as studio expansion into England.

Dublin, 2021 – Today at the second Panel from Hell livestream, Larian Studios unveiled Baldur’s Gate 3’s fourth major update, Nature’s Power. This huge update includes the first new playable class for Baldur’s Gate 3, which was released into Early Access in October of 2020. The amount of changes coming to the game with Patch 4 is greater than all 3 prior patches combined.

The Druids
The Druid class comes with over 30 spells & abilities, including Wild Shape. Since Baldur’s Gate 3 is such a deeply narrative experience, new dialogue and voice over has also been recorded so that playing a Druid has the same deep level of narrative interactivity as the other classes, Humans, Elves, Half-Elves, Halflings, Dwarves, Tieflings, Drow, etc.

We won’t spoil them, but those who visit Druid’s Grove playing as a Druid may enjoy a game of spot the difference. Of course, being a game that reacts to who you are, there are new rewards, options, story moments, and interactions scattered throughout the game’s Act 1 content.

With the power of the wilderness at their fingertips, Druids can transform their shape in order to adapt to different situations. Crunch bones and slam into enemies as a Dire Wolf or Polar Bear. Spin your silken thread over the environment as a Spider. Soar above Faerun as a Raven. Sneak into hostile spaces unnoticed as a Cat. Burrow under the earth and ambush opponents as a Badger. Or temporarily embrace the tadpole that the Mindflayers have implanted inside you, and discover a new and mysterious Aberrant Shape.

There are currently 8 Shapes available: Deep Rothé, Cat, Raven, Dire Wolf, Badger, Spider, Polar Bear, and Aberrant. NPC’s will react to your animal form in a procedural way. Bear blocking your path? Then assume bear Shape and speak his own language!

D&D fans will know that the Druids traditionally come from one of a number of Circles. Druids will be able to choose from one of two Circles to inform how they play.

Circle of the Land – Keepers of the Old Faith, these Druids are connected to arctic wastelands, sunny coasts, scorching deserts, fair forests, green grasslands, tall mountains, treacherous swamps and even the vast and otherworldly realm of the Underdark. Based on what type of geography they’re connected to, they gain additional power.

Circle of the Moon – Changeable as the moon, these stewards of nature haunt the deepest parts of the wilderness. Transformation is no problem for most Druids, but those who keep the ways of the moon gain the ability to morph into more powerful combative Wild Shapes – like the Polar Bear.

For further information on Druids in D&D, be sure to check out the VOD version of the Panel From Hell 2, where Lead Systems Designer Nick Pechenin and D&D Principal Rules Designer Jeremy Crawford explored the ways in which Larian has incorporated the versatile character class into the game. With the aforementioned Wild Shape ability taking centre stage, the panel talked through many more spells, abilities and character interactions that the Druid has enabled.

Global Expansion
The Panel from Hell 2 also covered the ways in which Larian has, and continues to meet the challenges of such a gargantuan RPG. Already situated in Belgium, Ireland, Russia, and Canada, the studio today formally announced expansion into England and Malaysia, with the Guildford and Kuala Lumpur studios respectively. This expansion is not only about increasing the number of developers working on the game, but also allowing development to follow the sun, with each studio acting as a mirror-image of one another, insofar as it’s possible.

The result of this continued commitment is of course all the updates through to Patch 4, but also today as covered in the Panel From Hell 2, specific examples of how Larian were able to quickly address and work with player feedback to create tangible changes and quality of life improvements to the game.

Big changes in BG3’s Patch 4
Along with the Druid, Patch 4: Nature’s Power brings a number of improvements and changes to the game, including of course fixes, but also major quality of life improvements, and increasingly polished cinematics. Many of which have been requested by the community or influenced by community feedback:

  • Optional Loaded Dice: This optional change helps smooth out the extremes of the bell curve. It retains the core elements of RNG, ensuring a player can no longer be unlucky or super lucky with several dice rolls in a row. The system also runs in two parts. Dice rolls in dialogue are different to those in combat, and this change only impacts the d20. Not damage rolls.
  • Speak with dead and polished cinematics: Cinematics in special cases like Speak with Dead have made huge improvements along with the ability to join conversations as an animal. The patch also adds improved animations with the Druids in the Grove as they cast spells and use their abilities. Major improvements have been made both in animation and lighting, which… though not obvious in this paragraph of text, look really neat in the game. Channel your imagination.
  • Multiplayer: Those embarking on their adventure together with friends can now see other players Equipment, Spells, Inventory and Character Sheets. As well as the ability to take and place items to and from. There is no lock function – that will come in a future patch. Your friends could for example steal your items, because there’s no lock function yet, but there’s no rush, because they’re your friends. They wouldn’t do that to you, would they?
  • Quality of life: A series of much-requested features have been implemented. Players can now target friends and enemies with spells and equipment by clicking on their portraits. As an alternative to trying to click on a character in the world, players can now easily select and attack whoever they want from the UI. We also added a flee button for the errr… tacticians among us. And using torches has never been easier thanks to the long-awaited addition of the torch button!
  • Improved Cinematics: Narrative cinematics have been given a new lease of life thanks to a fresh lighting pass, resulting in some truly spectacular sequences in which the story of BG3 is told.

Now, this PR is getting insufferably long, so be sure again to recap on the Panel From Hell 2 for all the latest news and updates, as well as the patch notes once they’re published ahead of Patch 4’s launch, which is coming very soon, when it’s ready.

New Italian Battleships Arrive in Early Access for World of Warships

AUSTIN, TX (February 17, 2021— Wargaming, developer and publisher of the widely popular, free to play naval combat game World of Warships (WoWS), has today launched Update 0.10.1 for the game.

The headline addition is the maiden voyage of the long awaited, Tier IV–IX Italian Battleships. Players can now set sail for battle with these all-new vessels, available in Early Access on the Live Server. The full video update can be viewed here.

The Italian Battleships
The new update adds six all-new Italian Battleships to the game listed below:

  • Dante Alighieri (Tier IV)
  • Conte di Cavour Tier V)
  • Andrea Doria (Tier VI)
  • Francesco Caracciolo (Tier VII)
  • Vittorio Veneto (Tier VIII)
  • Lepanto (Tier IX)

The Italian Battleships come armed with a host of interesting features for players to try out. These include semi-armor-piercing shells to deal significant damage to weakly protected targets, and a large number of guns, balanced by their shorter range and lower accuracy. The new ships also feature higher maneuverability and armor protection for the ship itself. Tier VIII–X ships also can deploy the Exhaust Smoke Generator consumable, which allows them to hide from the enemy without having to reduce their speed.

To get these ships players in the early access can obtain a new temporary resource, the Italian Tokens. These can be earned by completing combat mission groups, a special chain of combat missions, from random bundles purchased with dubloons, free random bundles, Recruitment Point bundles in the armory and by completing combat missions from the official WoWS streams.

The number of tokens that can be obtained by completing combat mission groups will be enough to obtain Tier IV-VI Battleships, with VII Francesco Caracciolo available as the final reward for completing the last combat mission group and IX Lepanto obtainable from random bundles purchased with Dubloons. Full details can be found here in the Italian BB overview article.

Finally, the Taranto Port has also been updated in 0.10.1 and you can see images showing off these changes with a new Italian flare here

Ranked Battles: The Second Season
Season 2 of the new Ranked Battles comes in a different format. The duration of the season is now doubled as well as the rewards for each Sprint. The number of Stars in leagues has been increased by 50% on average. In addition, the Bronze and Silver leagues now have 10 ranks each.

Clan Battles Season 12
The new season will be held in a 7 vs. 7 format, playing Tier IX ships and there has been a small but important change. Ship limits can now be set with this change designed to ensure each battle and game mode offers diverse and interesting gameplay. Possible restrictions include limits on the number of the same ships, or even banning certain ships if necessary.

Brawls
Brawls have received significant changes with this new update. They are now treated as their own separate battle type, featuring shorter seasons with a smaller team format. Brawls can be played solo or as part of a division. Also, starting from March 8, players will be able to engage in a 1 vs 1 Brawl with Tier VIII ships. For more information on the changes, or the rules involved please click here.

Brazilian Carnival event
Although this year’s Brazil Carnival has been canceled, World of Warships still wanted to celebrate the country’s biggest party on its original date. The celebration of Carnival presents several new features in the game, the main one being the inclusion of the Brazilian ship “Juruá”, which comes with a permanent camouflage inspired by Boitatá, a legendary and mythical character of Brazilian folklore. All details for the new content can be found here.

The team also went one step further and worked with “Dragões da Real”, a Brazilian samba school, to create an exclusive video celebrating the spirit of Carnival which can be viewed here.

Full developer notes, including details on the above and visual changes, can be found here.

Monster summoning action roguelike Sword of the Necromancer releases its biggest update yet!

Barcelona, Spain – February 17th, 2021 – Game developers JanduSoft S.L and Grimorio of Games have released their biggest update yet for their monster summoning action roguelike Sword of the Necromancer. Since its launch on January 28th Sword of the Necromancer has shot into the top 30 downloaded games on the Nintendo eShop in North America and Europe and after listening to the players, an update was created to add some quality of life(after death) improvements:

– An Item Bag has been added that can store up to 4 items and is accessible at any time. Items stored in the bag are not in use and thus do not grant any passive or active effect. Monsters stored in the bag are not healed nor recover their health with time as the monsters you have equipped. The bag will be available after the tutorial level and is enabled by default.

– New options have been added to the Game Settings. Players can now choose to recall monsters from anywhere, start the game on the floor you last played, and enable/disable the new Item Bag. Use the Game Settings to optimise your gaming experience.

– Game Settings screen will appear once upon boot up after having cleared the tutorial.
– Several minor bugs and crashes have been fixed.

More on Sword of the Necromancer:
Sword of the Necromancer is a dungeon-crawler action-RPG with roguelike elements where you can revive your defeated enemies to make them fight alongside you. Turn your foes into allies using the forbidden powers of the Sword of the Necromancer and help the rogue Tama reach the dungeon’s depths to gather enough power to bring her beloved priestess Koko back from the dead. Assemble a small army of monsters, equip yourself with weapons and relics, and level up to take on the guardians that stand between you and your goal.

Each attempt gets you closer to the Necromancer. Upon death you’ll lose all your equipped weapons and monsters, but you will retain part of the level you achieved in your run. As you scour deeper through the dungeon you’ll uncover more of Tama and Koko’s past. Do you think it is dangerous to go alone? Then use the Flask of Homunculus to create a copy of yourself and play with a friend in local co-op! Additionally, there are IR codes that can be scanned to make the game easier. Or harder. The choice is yours!

Tales from the Borderlands® Out Now on Consoles and PC

The critically acclaimed adventure game is now available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as on PC via Steam and—for the first time—the Epic Games Store

We’re thrilled to announce that award-winning adventure game Tales from the Borderlands® has officially returned to digital storefronts. The re-release version, which consolidates all five original episodes into a single package, is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. You can also play the game on your Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility.

Originally released as a series of five episodes between November 2014 and October 2015, Tales from the Borderlands is a choice-driven narrative adventure game that takes place between the events of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3. Experience this beloved story from the perspectives of two protagonists, thrown together in an unlikely partnership as they try to recover a mountain of money that each believes is theirs.

Fiona is a full-time con-artist who has been scheming to make a fortune selling a fake Vault Key. Rhys—who you might know from Borderlands 3 as the Atlas Corporation CEO—is an ambitious Hyperion employee who idolizes the recently deceased Handsome Jack and is in the market for a Vault Key. The deal they strike goes bad in ways that could only happen in the Borderlands, wreaking all kinds of mayhem. How the rest of the story plays out is up to you, as you make choices during explosive action scenes and conversations with familiar characters like Moxxi, Zer0, Marcus, and Claptrap.

Tales from the Borderlands is a crucial chapter in Borderlands canon, so if you haven’t yet experienced its chaotic, emotional journey, now’s the perfect time. This re-release includes all five of the original episodes in one package:

  • Episode 1 – Zer0 Sum
  • Episode 2 – Atlas Mugged
  • Episode 3 – Catch a Ride
  • Episode 4 – Escape Plan Bravo
  • Episode 5 – The Vault of the Traveler

Though you won’t be able to purchase episodes individually, you also won’t need to wait for each subsequent episode to release, and if you have an existing save file, you can pick up where you left off on the same platform. Note that cross-generation save transfers within the same console family are supported for the new Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles.

Whether you’re new to Tales from the Borderlands or simply want to reacquaint yourself with Rhys and Fiona to take care of some unfinished business, we hope you enjoy your time with this unforgettable adventure.

And in case you missed it, the latest episode of The Borderlands Show was packed with exciting updates and announcements for Borderlands 3, including news on the upcoming Director’s Cut* add-on, the ongoing Broken Hearts Day seasonal event, and the brand new Disciples of the Vault premium cosmetic packs coming soon to Season Pass 2*.
