REPLACED ANNOUNCED AS PART OF THE XBOX GAMES SHOWCASE

On Sunday 13th June, Publishers Coatsink and developers Sad Cat Studios announced REPLACED as part of the Xbox Games Showcase.

REPLACED is a 2.5D sci-fi retro-futuristic action platformer where you play as R.E.A.C.H. – an artificial intelligence trapped in a human body against its own will. The game is a mix of cinematic platformer, pixel art, free-flow action combat and deep engaging dystopian story set in an alternative 1980’s.

In and around Phoenix-City, Outlaws are rife in society. Everything is ruled by corruption and greed and the ones in power see humans and their organs as nothing more than just currency. Explore and uncover the mysteries from the perspective of R.E.A.C.H, who is beginning to understand what it’s like to be human in a broken world.

Inspired by cyberpunk stylized films like Blade Runner 2049 & Upgrade, Developers Sad Cat Studios want to build an in-depth, complex world, with pixel art at the heart of REPLACED’s gritty, dystopian past.

REPLACED is planned for release in 2022 and will be available to play on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass for Console, Xbox Game Pass for PC,Steam & Epic Games Store with an optimized version for Xbox Series X|S.

Capcom E3 2021 Showcase Spotlights Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Ace Attorney, And Capcom Esports

During the all-virtual E3 2021, the Capcom showcase offered fans a look at what to expect from the renowned Japanese publisher’s latest lineup. The broadcast, hosted by Rachel “Seltzer” Quirico, shared news and updates for the upcoming games Monster Hunter Stories™ 2: Wings of Ruin and The Great Ace Attorney™ Chronicles, the recently released hits Resident Evil™ Village and Monster Hunter™ Rise, plus a look at the year ahead for esports from the Capcom Pro Tour (CPT) and Street Fighter League (SFL).

The full Capcom showcase broadcast can be accessed on Capcom’s official YouTube and Twitch channels, in addition to being available within the official E3 portal and app.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin Takes Flight

The new story trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin shed light on the fate of the famous Monster Rider Red, the origins of Razewing Ratha, and the player’s journey to unravel the Wings of Ruin prophecy. Monster Riders eager to hop in the saddle to experience the opening hours of the highly anticipated RPG can enjoy a Free Trial Version offering full save data transfer when it lands on June 25 for Nintendo Switch™ and Steam at launch. Fans interested in seeing more of the diverse and majestic monsters coming to the game could catch a glimpse of numerous fan favorites they can bond with during their travels, including Elder Dragons Kushala Daora and Teostra. Finally, the showcase offered a look at some of the free title updates coming to the game after its release on July 9, 2021, starting with the Palamute from Monster Hunter Rise.

Mysteries Abound in The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles

Budding defense attorneys looking to make the journey West with rookie ace attorney Ryunosuke Naruhodo got a first look at the new features and gameplay arriving with The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. While investigating heinous crimes, Ryunosuke and his legal aid Susato Mikatoba will team up with the preeminent investigator in London: Herlock Sholmes. During these Dances of Deduction, the duo will need to work together to untangle the ace detective’s over-enthusiastic assumptions and discern the truth. In order to stave off the peril awaiting his clients, Ryunosuke must use these facts in court to convince a jury of his client’s innocence. Just as the scales of justice lean toward a guilty verdict, Ryunosuke can engage in a Summation Examination to tip the scales back in his favor. This seldom-used legal practice allows Ryunosuke to pick apart any inconsistencies in each juror’s logic, and pit the jury against itself to force the trial to continue. With 10 new cases to unravel, eight mini escapades to experience, and a wealth of bonus content to explore, ace attorneys will have a full docket when The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles arrives in court on July 27, 2021.

More Challenges Await in Monster Hunter Rise

The robust post-launch support for the critically acclaimed Monster Hunter Rise continues, with the next update featuring the first Capcom collaboration title: Monster Hunter Stories 2. Hunters who complete the free collaboration quest arriving June 18 will receive layered armor based on the wise Palico Tsukino for their buddies, while players who use save data from Monster Hunter Stories 2 can access the Rider layered armor based off the gear of Mahana Village Monster Riders on July 9. Additionally, new Event Quests arrive starting June 24, and offer a variety of rewards for intrepid hunters such as new armor, gestures, and stickers. Fashionistas will also gain access to a treasure trove of new looks, with new (paid and unpaid) DLC options for hunters and their buddies. Finally, fans can look forward to a number of additional collaborations with other Capcom titles throughout the second half of 2021.

The Road Ahead for Resident Evil

Following the successful launch of the acclaimed Resident Evil Village last month, Producer Tsuyoshi Kanda shared news on what fans can expect next as the Resident Evil 25th anniversary celebration continues. Due to the overwhelming support and feedback for the game, the team has just begun development on additional DLC for Resident Evil Village. More news will be shared at a later date.

Magic: The Gathering card turned into real life roast

To celebrate the launch of its latest card set Modern Horizons 2, Wizards has created a recipe based on one of the set’s legendary cards in a devilish roast.

Chef’s Surprise – A Recipe From The Underworld Cookbook is a recreation of a “Food” Token card, which was made popular by legendary card and famous magical character named Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar (Asmor for short). The character appeared in previous MTG lore in 1993, and made an impression due to its overly long name.

Asmor is famous in the MTG world as the author of “The Underworld Cookbook”, and was offered a deal by a Lord of the Pit that she had summoned: to prepare food for the demon for seven years or be a meal for the demon. More information is available here.

Chef’s Surprise – A Recipe From The Underworld Cookbook, by Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar
Serves three to four

Ingredients

Chicken:

  • 2 Maryland chicken thighs bones removed and laid flat
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 onion, grated
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon grated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • Pinch of cinnamon powder

Stuffing:

  • 600g ground beef
  • 5g gelatin powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • A pinch of coarsely ground black pepper

Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Toppings:

  • 1 daikon radish
  • 10 apples
  • Grapes, to taste
  • Green leaves, to taste
  • 1 crab leg
  • Skewers, for decoration

Directions:

  1. Remove excess skin and fat from the Maryland chicken thighs and pierce the skin with a fork.
  1. Combine all the ingredients for the chicken together in a bowl, rub thoroughly, and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
  1. In a separate bowl, combine the ingredients for the stuffing and knead well until white, then refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat, and place the marinated chicken thighs skin side down.
  3. When browned, turn over and remove to a plate to remove from heat.
  1. Remove any browned bits of meat from the pan, add the sauce ingredients and simmer gently to make a sauce.
  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. Cut the daikon into quarters (pending size of radish, may need to be thirds), then into smaller pieces to be shaped like fangs (image below). Create two sets of the fangs as shown below. One set will be used during the cooking process and the other for topping.
  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and use half of the stuffing to form a round base. Place the rest of stuffing on top of the centre of the base, in between the two chicken thighs (reference image below).
  1. Fill the area between the two thighs where the stuffing is visible with one set of the daikon fangs.
  1. Bake in the oven at 200°C for 20 minutes.
  2. Remove from the oven, brush with the sauce and bake again at 200°C for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove the cooked fangs and replace them with the uncooked second set you’ve set aside.
  4. Serve on a plate. Garnish with green leaves, grapes and apples.
  5. Attach the fangs for finishing. Decorate with crab legs on bamboo skewers and you’re done!
