Deck13 Spotlight’s Adventure-Platformer ‘Vesper’ Out Now

Atmospheric Adventure-Platformer Vesper Out Now on Steam & GOG.com from Cordens Interactive & Deck13 Spotlight

FRANKFURT, Germany July 30, 2021 – Deck13 Spotlight has announced the release today of Vesper, an atmospheric adventure-platformer created by Italian indie developer Cordens Interactive, on Steam and GOG.com. Dive into a colorful, eerie world as you take control of a small android and – by manipulating light, ancient machinery and hostile robots – try to navigate a post-post-apocalyptic land on a mission to bring back the light and save your kind.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxiABZ3PVRE

Vesper mixes the gameplay of classic ‘90s atmospheric platformers with newly inspired mechanics. Take control of Seven, a small android stranded on an eerie planet once populated by a highly advanced civilization, now ruled by hostile robots that eradicate any signs of life that don’t belong to their network. You’ll face thought-provoking questions about free will, determinism and more on a journey about the struggle between life and technology.

Use the Drive Gun to wield the light in order to overcome obstacles, take control of your enemies and turn them against each other. The game offers a variety of different solutions for every encounter, allowing you to hide in the shadows to avoid contact or engage enemies head-on. Choosing a path that fits your play style is the core design philosophy of Vesper.

RocketWerkz Announces ICARUS Open Beta Date of 28 August

Pre-Order Customers are Invited to Playtest Specific Featuresin Special “Beta Weekends

Auckland, New Zealand — July 30, 2021 — Game studio RocketWerkz announced today that its highly anticipated session-based survival game, Icarus, will officially open beta gameplay on August 28 with the first of several “Beta Weekends.” The company will roll out brand new features and content every two weeks for players to test out (see the schedule below). Anyone that has already pre-ordered Icarus, or pre-orders the game during August, will be able to play in the beta when it launches.

Icarus is a uniquely session-based PvE survival game for up to eight co-op players. Set on an Earth-like planet where terraforming failed, players explore, craft, build and survive against the elements as part of an interstellar goldrush. Initially equipped with nothing, players drop to the planet for missions lasting from hours to weeks, before returning to orbit to progress their character and tech for the next drop.

New features will be unlocked for the community to test every second weekend. “In the first Beta Weekend players will be invited to put Icarus’ core survival gameplay to the test,” says gamerunner Dean Hall. “Then we’ll start throwing more at them every two weeks. We’re really looking forward to playing Icarus with our community and hearing their feedback.”

The second Beta Weekend will unlock Icarus’ base-destroying storms, followed by the arctic biome two weeks later, then the desert biome, and special faction missions set by the corporations vying for control of Icarus in the following weeks.

“We wanted to do a smart beta,” says Hall. “By focusing on a new gameplay system each Beta Weekend we can gather more useful feedback from our community as we iterate and evolve the world. Icarus is ready for players, and we weren’t afraid to delay the game so we could get as much of their feedback as possible to make it the very best it can be.”

Icarus’ developers at RocketWerkz have been very open with their community during the game’s development, with regular community Twitch streams, a ‘Making of Icarus’ video series and an active Discord community. “We did this intentionally with the aim of developing the game collaboratively as we evolve the world,” says Hall. “We plan to continue this approach during the beta.”

Icarus is available to pre-order on Steam.

After the global success of influential survival game DayZ, Dean Hall returned to his native New Zealand. RocketWerkz opened its first studio in Dunedin, a university city in the south of New Zealand, in early 2015.

ENCASED: TUESDAY 7 SEPTEMBER RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED

Seven never seen before screen shots released

FRIDAY 30 JULY 2021 – Prime Matter and Dark Crystal Games are pleased to announce that the official release date for Encased – the upcoming isometric dystopian sci-fi RPG – will be on Tuesday 7 September 2021.

Set in an alternative 1976, the game has players exploring a hostile area called The Dome; a sealed wasteland packed to the brim with amazing technology but also deadly enemies.

Players start off in one of five disciplines – science, engineering, security, management, or convict – which affects both their initial stats, specialisation and opens (or prevents) unique dialogue within the game.

As with all classical RPG’s the game is a mix of exploration, combat and quest interaction as you journey across the environment crafting supplies and weapons and trying to ensure each day is not your last.

As you level up, you’ll encounter six different factions that have sprung up in the zone. Whether they become your friends or enemies is entirely up to you.

The game owes some of its spiritual inspiration to books like Roadside Picnic – as well as some classic post-apocalyptic RPGs – creating a familiar but unique environment that will appeal to both the veteran afficionado and RPG newbie alike.

Encased, which will be a digital PC release on Steam, Epic and GOG, is currently in early access where users can experience all the first act and part of the second. https://store.steampowered.com/app/921800/Encased_A_SciFi_PostApocalyptic_RPG/

A must have for any horror fans and collectors of special editions, the Song of Horror boxed Deluxe Edition will include a special artwork sleeve with the iconic illustration of The Presence, a map where players can note clues they find during the game and a character guide, explaining their abilities and relationship to the story for all 13 playable characters.

About Song of Horror

Song of Horror is a cinematic third-person horror adventure focusing on a terrifying narrative inspired by the literary works of Poe, Lovecraft and M.R. James.

Famed writer Sebastian P. Husher has gone missing, along with his entire family. His editor, worried by the loss of contact, sends an assistant to Husher’s home to check on his well-being. He never returns. These disappearances spark a series of terrifying events, revealing a dark entity known only as The Presence that seems to be at the centre of the horror that unfolds.

Check out the release trailer for the Song of Horror Deluxe Edition here

Features

  • Song of Horror offers a truly dynamic terror experience: its antagonist, the supernatural entity known only as The Presence, is controlled by an advanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) that adapts to your actions and decisions.
  • Experience unbearable fear as this otherworldly being responds to your way of playing and hunts you down in unexpected ways, offering a unique experience to every player and gameplay where tension builds up naturally instead of coming from scripted sequences.
  • As a player, you will live this story through the eyes of a varied set of characters related to the story in their own way. Every character is different, and brings their unique point of view to the investigation, allowing them to approach clues and items differently.
  • Their actions and decisions will shape the world: some of them will know more or less of certain aspects of the story; some will be more effective against supernatural manifestations, but all of them can die if the Presence gets to them – and death is permanent. If they die, you will have to pick the story up with another one, and continue the investigation so their deaths are not in vain.
  • A mysterious antique shop, a forgotten abbey, an abandoned mental hospital… Each location in Song of Horror is inspired by the classics of the genre. Explore and investigate these haunted places to gather clues and items that will help you solve challenging puzzles while enduring the agonizing tension of the game’s atmosphere.

RiMS Racing reveals technical details in dev diaries series

RiMS Racing: go behind the scenes of the game’s development with the first two video documentaries

Lesquin,  France, July 29, 2021 – NACON and RaceWard Studio are pleased to take you behind the scenes of the development for RiMS Racing, a unique motorcycling simulator concept releasing on 19 August on PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch™ and PC.

In a series of video documentaries, the creative teams are revealing some of the secrets of the game’s production process. This includes the work done on the KT Engine’s physics engine to create the best simulation possible, the mechanical accuracy of every motorbike, the different game modes, the ambient sounds, innovative features like the Motorbike Status Check – which offers a real-time view of the condition of the bike’s parts – and the extensive customisation options for motorbikes and riders.

The first developer diary video looks at all the various stages of the game’s development, starting with the design and research the teams did to create the most realistic motorcycle simulator possible. Accompanied by Art Director Mauro Ferrari, Game Designer Alessandro Carullo and Executive Producer Sergio Rocco, Marco Ponte – CEO of RaceWard Studio and the game’s Creative Director – explains the importance of the technical details to the game’s design and how it offers players the maximum immersion possible. The episode also highlights the studio’s invaluable collaboration with manufacturers such as Ducati and takes a look at the history of Ducati and the realism offered by RiMS Racing with Ducati’s official test rider, Alessandro Valia.

Watch the first RiMS Racing dev diary video

In the second video, the development team focuses on the various game modes, especially Career mode, as well as the different circuits and roads recreated in the game. Alongside Giulio Panzani and Stefano Raddrizzani from the research department of Politecnico di Milano, Game Designer Alessandro Carullo looks at the physics model developed to perfectly simulate tyre wear during races. Players are always seeking maximum performance, which is also central to game development at RaceWard, which has called on experts such as Lorenzo Mauri, a specialist in motorbike mechanics and consultant on the game.

Making RiMS Racing – Docu #2: Performance

By making mechanics a central part of the game, RiMS Racing provides players with a unique simulation experience and puts their engineering and riding skills to the test. Using an innovative mechanics management system, you can optimise every part of your bike down to the smallest component. With RiMS Racing, the Italian studio RaceWard is pushing the limits of realism and customisation. This is possible thanks to the game’s KT Engine developed by KT Racing specifically for motorsport games.

Over a career that includes over 70 events per season, or during the many challenges available in multiplayer, RiMS Racing promises complete immersion in the competitive world of motorcycling, where victory depends as much on your riding skills as on the motorcycle itself.

Look out for a new RiMS Racing development diary video from RaceWard and NACON each Thursday at 3pm CEST.

Co-Op, Cartoon-Inspired Shmup B.ARK Now Available on Nintendo Switch™, PC

BURBANK, Calif. — July 29, 2021 — B.ARK, the retro shoot ‘em up animal adventure from Tic Toc Games featured in a Nintendo Showcase early last year, takes to the stars on Nintendo Switch™ and PC via Steam today.

Barker, Felicity, Lucio, and Marv are the unlikely animal heroes of Team B.ARK, and humanity’s only hope for survival. Take back the Earth solo, or band together in up to four-player local co-op to prepare for an epic showdown against the fearsome Dark Tide armada!

Pilots each wield their own special weapons: unleash vollies of homing, spread, and explosive bullets at oncoming attackers. Simultaneously launch their unique Super abilities to create ultra-powerful Fusion Combos. Blast through waves of enemies and powerful bosses such as the shockingly agile Mecha Ray, or the giant Twin Eels that test pilots’ dodge skills.

As a love letter to arcade shoot ‘em ups of the ‘90s, B.ARK was built from the beginning to appeal to everyone. Seasoned starfaring shmup veterans and first-timers alike can enjoy the journey with three difficulty modes. Vets can even use Side-Car Mode to scoop up and carry downed teammates, adding them to their ship so no one’s left out. Those seeking a more competitive experience and bragging rights can compare high scores with the end level tally screen.

B.ARK’s impressive hand-drawn art and Saturday morning cartoon inspiration give a whole new meaning to the word dogfighter. Zoom through richly detailed environments to the tune of heroic music for easy-to-pick-up, hard-to-put-down frenetic fun where it’s impossible not to smile.

“We’re fans of both cartoons and co-op shooters, and we wanted to pass on that love to a new generation,” said Abraham Morales, co-director, Tic Toc Games. “We’ve merged our passions into an action-packed game and we’re excited to share it with everyone on Nintendo Switch and PC today!”

B.ARK is now available with a 20% launch discount on Nintendo Switch™ and PC via Steam in North America, Europe, Great Britain, and Russia in English for $7.99 until August 4. For more information on B.ARK, visit the official website, follow Tic Toc Games on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook.
