Seaworthy Roguelite RPG Maritime Calling Sets Sail into Steam Early Access this September

The Sea is Yours to Conquer as You Command a Crew of Hardy Sailors, Explore Undiscovered Lands, and Discover Untold Riches Starting This September

Moscow, Russia (August 11, 2021) — Developer Tiamat Games announces today that their seafaring roguelite role-playing game, Maritime Calling, will launch for Windows PC via Steam Early Access on September 28, 2021. Inspiring a sense of adventure akin to Master and Commander, while coupling it with the crew-management elements of FTL: Faster Than Light, Maritime Calling invites players to captain a ship and claim unexplored, resource-rich lands for the crown. Manage everything from stem to stern as you oversee the wellbeing of your crew, survive deadly oceanic hazards, and explore uncharted lands, while a procedurally generated map keeps every playthrough fresh and exciting.

In addition, Tiamat Games also announced today that Maritime Calling will enter closed Beta starting August 18 and running through August 29. Those who would like an opportunity to try the game ahead of its Early Access release can visit the Maritime Calling Steam store page to register via Steam Playtest and join the Tiamat Games Discord to join in on the conversation.

Watch the new trailer below:

“We are excited to invite would-be explorers to set sail on the open seas with Maritime Calling’s Early Access release this summer,” said Nikita Veselov, Game Director on Maritime Calling. “We are excited to hear the stories from players and work closely with the community as we work towards the game’s full launch.”

In Maritime Calling, captains must utilize special masteries and skills to ensure the ship is properly maintained at all times — even if that means ordering members of the crew to take on dangerous and decidedly un-glamorous tasks. Captains must ensure that the right sailor is assigned the right task, so players will need to assess the skills of their crewmates to take advantage of their strengths and weaknesses. A crewmate that’s adept at navigation probably should not be on the front lines of a battle as their death could mean that the ship becomes lost at sea forever.

Everyone aboard relies on the captain to steer the ship clear of environmental hazards, while simultaneously preparing for unexpected attacks from rival nations. While life on the high seas can sometimes lead to a watery end, procedurally generated maps mean no two excursions are the same, keeping the experience fresh as the cold sea air. Mastery of the helm, however, will lead to newly-discovered islands with specialized quests that will lead to rewards like forgotten treasures!

Key Features of Maritime Calling:

  • Take the Helm, Captain: Steering a ship back in the day was a smidge more involved than it is compared to motorboats of today. It’s the player’s job to prep the sails, measure for wind direction, and steer clear of any rocky crags sticking out of the water.

  • It’s a Sailor’s Life for Me: Set day-to-day shifts for the crew, order them to plug any leaky holes in the hull, resolve quarrels among them, and make sure everyone gets their fair share of provisions (and booty!) Don’t feel bad about bossing everyone around, either —  it’s the captain’s job after all!

  • Master and Roleplayer: An effective captain will assign the right sailor to their most well-suited jobs. As each crew member gains experience through the tasks they’re assigned, they gain levels to unlock specializations that come with special bonuses!

  • The World is an Oyster, so Pry it Open: These undiscovered countries are just waiting for players to explore them and uncover their riches!

  • An Ever-Changing World: The map shifts with each playthrough thanks to procedural map and terrain creation engine. There could be a beautiful coral reef in a region on one playthrough, and the next, a violent tropical storm!

Maritime Calling will be available for PC via Steam Early Access on September 28, 2021.

Hamburg, Germany – August 11th, 2010 — Enter the chaos-ridden streets of New Baltia! Do you have what it takes to handle the unbridled insanity of a world unhinged? Developer Daedalic Entertainment, alongside developer Dark Lord, are buzzed to announce that Glitchpunk, a cyberpunk-themed game with a modern take on that old-school GTA 2 feel, is out now in Steam Early Access at $19.99 with a 20% discount at launch.

Watch the Stylish Grindhouse-Inspired Glitchpunk Launch Trailer

A top-down action game where you shoot, brawl, drive, steal and sneak yourself through a neon-soaked world full of gangs and cults, forging cooperations along the way, Glitchpunk isn’t just about blowing things up – it also tells a compelling story of transhumanism, xenophobia, and religion. You can influence the world around you, make new friends, face off against more enemies than you can count – and perhaps, just perhaps, convert an enemy’s aversion to affection.

There’s plenty more on the way with Glitchpunk’s first city, New Baltia, available now and Outpost Texas arriving in three to four weeks. Two more cities — Neo Tokyo and Moscow — will be added during the Early Access journey. Each city has its own gangs and characters while also continuing the protagonist’s gripping story. Keep an eye out for more information on Glitchpunk’s Early Access updates as a detailed road map will be on the way soon after the game’s launch.

In Glitchpunk you play as a glitching android going against your own programming and challenging the tyrannical governments and megacorps of the dystopian near-future. Forge your own path in several cities full of drug-crazed gangs, aggressive police, and irresponsible drivers that make each mission and playthrough unpredictable. Steal cars and lead your enemies on a merry chase, fight them with a variety of melee and long-range weapons, and upgrade your own body with technology that enables you to manipulate your surroundings or improve your capabilities.

Check out the first 35 Minutes of Gameplay here:

Key features:

  • Brutal top-down action with a massive arsenal of weapons to choose from
  • Hacking system allowing players to control the minds of pedestrians and affect various devices.
  • Many different ways of locomotion, including trains, tanks, motorbikes, buses, trucks, and obviously tons of cars
  • Frantic police chases and up to 10 escalations of mayhem-inducing wanted levels
  • 12 gangs with their own stories, quests, and culture

  • Mature story with several endings
  • Rare art style mix of 2D sprites in a 3D environment
  • In-game radio with music by artists from all over the world, together with news stations and absurd commercials

The Montreal-based outfit has secured a large initial investment and regained the IP for the acclaimed Journey to the Savage Planet, meaning they can hit the ground running on new adventures in the  action adventure space.

Altogether, Raccoon Logic’s co-founders have held key positions at the likes of Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, and WB Games amongst others, with the studio backed by a pivotal investment from Chinese tech firm Tencent. Combined, it should ensure Raccoon Logic’s as-of-yet unannounced debut project will have both the tools and talent it needs.

The founders behind Raccoon Logic include:

  • Alex Hutchinson, Creative Director and Co-Founder. Previously Co-Founder and Creative Director, Typhoon Studios/Google.  Prior to that a creative director at Ubisoft Montreal, where he directed Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed 3.  Other past work includes Spore, The Sims 2, and Army of Two: The 40th Day for EA.
  • Reid Schneider, Studio Head, Executive Producer and Co-Founder. Previously Co-Founder and Studio Head/EP, Typhoon Studios/Google.  Prior to that, a co-founder of WB Games Montreal where he served as the Executive Producer on Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Knight, Schneider’s other past work includes EA’s Army of Two and Army of Two: 40th Day, Battlefield Vietnam, and the original Splinter Cell.
  • Yannick Simard, CTO and Co-Founder.  Previously Technical Director/Software Development Manager at Typhoon Studios/Google.  Prior to that, worked  at Ubisoft in different Lead Programmer and Technical Lead roles on Watch Dogs 1 & Watch Dogs 2.  Other past work includes Army of Two, Army of Two: The 40th Day, and Spore Hero at EA,  and Lead Engine Programmer at Eidos.
  • Erick Bilodeau, Art Director and Co-Founder.  Previously Head of Art of Typhoon Studios/Google.  Prior to that he worked at WB Games Montreal as a Lead Technical Artist on Batman: Arkham Origins.  Other work includes Shawn White Skate, Far Cry 2, and Mighty Quest for Epic Loot.
  • Marc-Antoine Lussier, Technical Design Director and Co-Founder. Previously Principal Technical Designer at Typhoon Studios/Google.  Prior to that he worked at Ubisoft Montréal as Technical Design Director on the original Assassin’s Creed, Assassins Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed 3, and Assassin’s Creed Unity.  Other previous work includes Syberia and Myst 4.

“We’re excited to be back in the indie space, making the games we truly believe in with an amazing new  team,” offers Alex Hutchinson, Creative Director at Raccoon Logic. “The early investment from Tencent is a huge boost, meaning we can do significant work on our own before we start talking to publishers. We love systemic games, games with a sense of humor and a big heart, and games with strong flavours that get reactions from players. We’re going to keep pushing on those ideas and we’ll have something to show soon!”

“We’re super excited to continue the work we started at Typhoon Studios, and build upon the Journey to the Savage Planet franchise in the future. We would like to thank our partners at Tencent, Google, and 505 for their support,” added Reid Schneider, Studio Head at Raccoon Logic.  “We’re fortunate to have put together an amazing team, many of whom helped build Savage Planet, and we’ve added some great new talent as well.”

Look out for future announcements detailing Raccoon Logic’s debut projects in the months ahead.
