Fight Formidable Foes Using the All-new Multi-linked Turn-based Battles and Twin Action Combat!

BURLINGAME, Calif. – Jan. 27, 2022 – Today, KOEI TECMO America and developer GUST Studios revealed further information about the all-new battle system in their highly-anticipated JRPG, Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream. The latest entry in the adored Atelier series is scheduled to release across North America on Feb. 25, 2022 for the Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®4, and Windows PC via Steam®, with pre-orders starting today on all platforms. To celebrate the announcement, a new trailer was released featuring the game’s opening theme “Syndetos” by Suzuyu.

When Sophie sets out on an adventure to find a missing friend and unlock the mystery behind the dream-like world of Erde Wiege, she will have to fight the many monsters that inhabit the land – some of which Atelier fans may recognize from previous entries! For the first time in the series, Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream features a battle system that begins instantly without any load times or separate screens, allowing gameplay to flow seamlessly between exploration and combat. In this new battle system, up to six party members can join forces for “multi-linked turn-based battles”. These party members will be split into two teams; the “assault team” which consists of the three members in the front, and the “back-up team” which features the three members at the back.

One of the abilities that this new combat system introduces is Twin Actions. Here, the front and back rows can choose to attack together, or have the front row make their move first while the back row recovers and charges up. This ability uses less MP than performing the attacks separately, offering the chance for players to inflict more damage to their foes in battle. Alternatively, players can use the Support Guard action that allows a member of the back row to protect a member in the front row when they are being attacked. Since the members in the front and back rows can be freely switched, it’s important to keep track of each member’s HP and to use these abilities at the right time. In order to use the Twin Actions and Support Guard abilities, Technical Points (TP) are required. When the Dual Gauge reaches 100%, Dual Triggers – a special move where two party members launch a powerful ability together – can be triggered to get an upper-hand in battle.

Some of the enemies that Sophie and her companions encounter will be covered in an aura, and these monsters will be more difficult to inflict damage upon, dealing large amounts of damage to the party. By attacking the monster’s aura with an element it is weak against, the aura will be reduced and stun the monster, allowing Sophie and friends to perform more actions in a row than usual. In some battles, Weather Control can also be used during battle to create favourable situations that weaken the monster’s aura.

In addition, players will be able to use the game’s built-in Photo Mode to capture their favorite moments from inside the game, including images of the beautiful environments, their party members, the people of Roytale, and the many species of monsters roaming the land! With a wide range of edit functions, players can create memorable pictures from their adventure to help them cherish Sophie’s epic journey.

KOEI TECMO America also announced today that Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is available for pre-order digitally across all platforms. Those that digitally pre-order the game will receive access to the “Easy Breezy” costume for Sophie on their adventure! A limited time bonus, the “Comfy and Casual” outfit for Sophie, is also available for those who purchase the game physically or digitally within the first two weeks of launch. Final Public Beta Introducing Custom Quizzes Begins Feb. 11

TOKYO – January 27, 2022 – Survival Quiz CITY, the platformer quiz battle royale from developer GYAAR Studios of BANDAI NAMCO and publisher Phoenixx, opens the city gates on Friday, March 4 on Steam for PC, with the final public beta introducing the Custom Quiz feature taking place Friday, Feb. 11 to Sunday, Feb. 13.

Up to 30 contestants compete in the future’s most popular game show, by racing to quickly answer quiz questions before tackling a daunting obstacle course. The first competitors to get the right answer choose a weapon and blast the losers who got the question wrong or were too slow to answer correctly. The losers find themselves unarmed and using their limited stamina to climb walls and sprint to the goal before time runs out, collecting coins along the way while dodging the winners who pelt the losers to earn coins for themselves.

The winners and the obstacle course survivors can spend their coins on upgrades to unlock new weapons, improve their stamina for running or climbing, or get some slick cosmetics. Those who don’t have enough coins can explore the intermission area’s obstacle course to collect more money to buy something before time runs out or save up for the next round.

Become the champion of Survival Quiz CITY in Survival mode by completing every obstacle course, with entrants eliminated after each round. Bounty Hunter mode allows all participants to stick around to the end, though only the winners and those who completed the course keep the coins they earn! The top money-earner throughout all the rounds takes home the win.

Compete against the world and discover thousands of questions appearing before each round, and quizzes granting special boosts mid-round. Test both brains and brawn against random contestants, or get together and create private matches with friends, with the ability to create custom quizzes in order to make things more fun.

Try out the game and custom quizzes in a free public beta available on Steam and taking place Friday, Feb. 11 through Sunday, Feb. 13. Upload custom quizzes and questions, and rack up some wins before the global launch on Friday, March 4.

Red Bull Wrap Up – The latest gaming trivia wrapped into the game show for gamers

Consider yourself a trivia wiz when it comes to all things gaming? Now you can test your knowledge against some of the biggest names in Australian gaming as they go head-to-head to determine who has the best (or hilariously worst) video game know-how with Red Bull Wrap Up.

The game show about games, hosted by AU gaming media expert and Red Bull Player Stephanie ‘Hex” Bendixsen, dropped on YouTube January 27, just in time to provide Australia’s estimated 17 million video game fans some much-needed laughs. 

Whether you’re a retro game renegade or a modern day mage, there’s something for everyone in the half-hour game show where two teams battle it out for bragging rights of Wrap Up champions.

Former host of ABC cult-classic show “Good Game”, Stephanie is one of the most recognisable faces in Australian gaming and passionate about raising the profile of gaming and esports in mainstream Australia:

“I have adored games since I was a kid – they helped me find myself when I was a teen and  were a huge self-esteem booster for me. Naturally, I want to give back in whatever way I can by continuing to raise the profile of gaming here in Australia.”

Bendixsen described Red Bull Wrap Up as “straight up chaos”.

“It’s a comedy quiz trivia show that focuses on games where none of the points matter because I control who gets them and why, and it doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with having the right answers. It was chaos from the start, it got messier towards the end, and my face hurt from laughing. A highlight for me was the singing challenge where Jordan [Raskopoulos] did the Donkey Kong rap.” 

Special guests for episode one include comedian, actor and singer Jordan Raskopoulos, whose impressive CV also includes making up one-third of comedy musical trio Axis of Awesome, being a star jammer for the Sydney Roller Derby League and playing Warhammer 40,000 since the age of 12.

“It was off the chain, I’ve never been so stimulated and challenged intellectually. I’m so sad it’s over,” said Jordan about Episode 1. “I think they might be able to convince me to come back for another one, so you’ll just have to keep watching the episodes to find out.”

Jordan was paired with professional esports commentator Geordie ‘Mac’ McAleer – THE Moustache of esports. Mcaleer brought his A game and wealth of knowledge to Red Bull Wrap Up as a professional Counter-Strike commentator with an event resume covering IEM Sydney, ESL One Cologne, ESL Pro League and the host of the League of Legends Circuit Oceania.

“I had a really great time with Jordan, especially our performance for the Finish This segment where we had to complete a game soundtrack. I got to be percussion to our song, and that was really fun, and Jordan absolutely killed the vocals.”   

On the other team was former Channel V star and Chief of Banter Danny Clayton, who, along with his trademark larrikin charm and wealth of media experience, brings a newcomer perspective to gaming: 

“Honestly, I am a casual gamer at best, so Red Bull Wrap Up has been a cultural crash course for me. It was lots of fun, I found myself giggling a lot, like a schoolkid, it was very difficult to hold a straight face,” says Clayton. 

Danny joined forces with journalist, presenter and self-confessed “musical theatre tragic” Stephanie Panecasio, who works across tech, culture, science and games, frequently writing about how society responds to subcultures and internet phenomena. Her favourite games are lore-filled RPGs and she will always have a special place in her heart for Garrus Vakarian.

“I didn’t embarrass myself as much as I thought I would, and I would say viewers can expect to be very entertained and quite happy with their own general gaming knowledge, because they would probably know more than us!” says Panecasio.

January 27, 2022 — The Year of the Tiger is fast approaching and to mark this significant event of Lunar New Year, World of Tanks has prepared a special event which will see players challenge themselves to get a brand-new (and the second-ever) Tier IX Premium tank, the WZ-114.

Running from January 28^th until February 7^th, the Hidden Tiger event will consist of two chapters and each one has a unique and valuable reward at its end: completing Chapter I will reward the WZ-114 and Chapter II will gift players with the Tiger Claw 3D style, only available during this event. The WZ-114 is a Tier IX Chinese heavy tank that’s well-prepared for any duel, thanks in part to its 530 alpha damage, 266mm of penetration with standard rounds and decent frontal armour.

As well as being a tank you can boast about in your collection, the WZ-114 will earn those who play it more Credits, Combat XP, and Crew XP in battle as well as bonds, just like a Tier X vehicle would. To earn this Chinese Premium for free, tankers will need to complete 10 consecutive stages by fulfilling missions. Along the way, they can also earn a unique 2D style, Personal Reserves, useful equipment items and days of World of Tanks Premium Account.

To receive the Tiger Claw 3D style, players will have to have fully completed Chapter I and then fulfill any 8 Chapter II missions. This unique style takes inspiration from the mighty Water Tiger, this year’s lunar patron.

In the case a tanker doesn’t finish all 10 missions of Chapter I, they will receive a 10% discount on the WZ-114 for each one they have completed.

Multi-award-winning indie games label signs Covenant.dev’s upcoming debut inspired by Slavic folklore and set in a world of primordial gods and legendary creatures

Wednesday, 26^th January 2022 – Team17 has today announced that it will be working with Polish game dev creative house, Covenant.dev, to bring Gord, a single-player dark fantasy strategy game, to PC. In theworld of Gord, players will lead the Tribe of the Dawn as they strive to establish new settlements and explore eerie forbidden lands while interacting with horrific creatures and deities inspired by Slavic folklore. Players will have to complete quests to grow the tribe’s settlements (known as ‘gords’) and fortify these from invaders while managing a populace whose personal stories, familial ties, and well-being, can have devastating impact on the survival of their communities.

Covenant.dev is a 24-person creative development house including alumni from prominent Polish developers CD Projekt RED (The Witcher 3), 11 bit studios (Frostpunk), and Flying Wild Hog (Shadow Warrior 2). Headed by Chief Executive Officer, Stan Just, former producer on The Witcher 3, Gord is the studio’s debut title and aims to deliver players a mature and unforgiving strategy experience.
