Diablo veterans hit 60% funding for ambitious ARPG that was one of Next Fest’s most popular demos
California, USA – March 4th, 2026 — The Kickstarter for Darkhaven, a new ARPG from Diablo veterans Philip Shenk, Peter Hu, and Erich Schaefer, has now hit 60% funding, receiving an impressive $300k, with 16 days to go. An unconventionally unfiltered demo for Darkhaven is in the top 20 of Steam’s most-played demos list from the Steam Next Fest, making it among the top 1% of the 3500+ demos in Next Fest. The demo’s success has helped the game surge to 270k wishlists on Steam.
Darkhaven is a dark fantasy isometric ARPG set in the aftermath of a great and final collapse of civilization. Ancient empires have fallen, their ruins reclaimed by wilderness, monsters, and predatory supernatural forces. Players are heirs to a legacy of power that is the last hope for this dying world. As eldritch evil worms its way into the world to feed on its remains, it falls to these few to bring the land back from the brink of death.
Designed for solo play, cooperative adventures, and high-stakes PvP-enabled realms, Darkhaven is set in a procedurally generated, fully dynamic, and persistent world. Terrain and structures are deformable and buildable, allowing players to dig through earth, tunnel through dungeon walls, drain lakes to uncover buried ruins, redirect lava flows to reshape battlefields, or rebuild shattered fortresses. Seasons change, weather alters combat and traversal, and world-altering events leave permanent scars. Every action contributes to a shared, evolving history.
The demo available now on Steam offers several hours of open-ended ARPG gameplay inside a persistent sandbox world. Players can progress the Witch class to level 8, experimenting across three skill trees focused on mobility, positioning, and resource management. Closer to a pre-alpha than a highly polished, bite-sized teaser, Moon Beast have decided not to water down their ambition with a narrow vertical slice, instead allowing players to experience the full, unfiltered version of what they are building as they seek players’ support to realise their vision on Kickstarter.
About Moon Beast Productions Moon Beast Productions is an independent games developer founded by industry veterans Philip Shenk, Peter Hu, and Erich Schaefer. They have offices in San Francisco, CA, and Austin, TX. Founded in 2021, Moon Beast Productions focuses on innovation in ARPG games.

About Tides of Tomorrow:
In a flooded, post-apocalyptic world plagued by a mysterious disease called Plastemia, you embark on a single-player mission – yet you’ll never be alone. You’ll constantly feel the presence of other Tidewalkers through the echoes of those who came before you.
Key Features:
Reveal the “echoes” of previous players through Online Story-Link – ghosts that show how previous Tidewalkers moved, the decisions they made, and even how they tried to communicate with you
Confront opposing factions – ruthless Marauders, everyday survivors known as Reclaimers, and the Mystics
Levels, NPCs, and narratives can be totally different depending on the choices of Story-Link selected
Sail through uncertain waters, gathering resources to improve your chance for survival
Explore diverse floating islands set amongst unique land and seascapes
About Online Story-Link:
The “Online Story-Link” feature allows you to feel the impact of previous players’ choices – and leave your own lasting mark for future players. How it works:
Every choice made by every player is recorded.
When beginning your run, you select a Tidewalker’s Story-Link to follow: from DigixArt team members, friends, streamers, or random global players.
You may visit the same locations, but the events, characters, and outcomes can differ entirely based on the choices made before you.
Your own choices will become Story-Links for future players, shaping their world in return.

New fractional talent operations service brings AAA talent expertise to indie studios
Los Angeles, CA — March 3, 2026 — Rocket Game Talent, a boutique fractional talent firm specializing in game studio talent operations, officially launches today to provide world-class hiring expertise to ambitious game studios of every size, providing strategic talent strategies that scale with studio growth.
Founded by Fiona Cherbak, former Talent Acquisition Lead at Sony PlayStation Worldwide Studios and Lead Talent Program Manager at Xbox Game Studios, Rocket Game Talent bridges the gap between AAA hiring excellence and indie studio reality—delivering Fortune 500 recruiting expertise without the cost of a full-time hire.
Small game studios face an acute recruiting disadvantage: they need experienced mid-level and senior talent but lack the brand recognition, established recruiting processes and competitive compensation of major publishers and platform holders.
Rocket Game Talent addresses this gap by understanding limited production budgets, equity negotiations and remote-first culture. The agency is positioning creative vision and meaningful impact against platform holder stability by finding mission-driven candidates willing to take calculated career risks for the right opportunity.
Cherbak’s track record spans some of gaming’s most iconic franchises and studios:
Staffed God of Warat Sony PlayStation (Game of the Year 2018), hiring 250+ developers
Staffed and shipped BioShock: Infinite for Irrational Games
Led talent operations for 14 Xbox Game Studios first-party teams (Gears of War, Halo, Forzaand more)
Co-founded Boston Festival of Indie Games (grew from 2,000 to 7,000+ attendees)
Co-produced Fantastic Arcade and advised IndieCade
Invited to Obama White House in 2015 for Women in Games Initiative
Former BAFTA Games U.S. Advisor (2018-2019)
Co-founder, Women in Games International (50,000+ members globally, recently celebrated 20 years)
Former Chair, IGDA Women in Games SIG
Rocket Game Talent is committed to providing comprehensive talent operations services tailored to game studios’ unique needs. “Most game talent specialists specialize in either AAA or indie. I’ve carefully mastered both,” Cherbak said. “I understand why your 50-person studio can’t hire like Xbox does—and I know how to position you to win top talent anyway. I understand both $200M blockbusters and bootstrapped startups—and that range is your advantage.”
Cherbak’s recruiting expertise has earned recognition from major studio leaders. “As a hiring manager for well over 15 years, I’ve worked with dozens of recruiters, but Fiona is in a class of her own,” said principal tech art director at Turn 10 Studios, developers of the Forza franchise. “Fiona is the best talent acquisition partner I’ve worked with in my 15+ year career. She’s tenacious, thoughtful, and deeply committed to finding the right people,” adds a senior leader at Santa Monica Studio, developers of God of War.
Rocket Game Talent is offering talent operations services designed to support game studios of every size, but particularly small studios, startups and indie teams, including:
Talent Operations Infrastructure: ATS setup and optimization, hiring process design, interview training, metrics and reporting, compensation benchmarking and remote team best practices.
Full-Cycle Recruiting: From sourcing and screening to interviewing, negotiating, and onboarding—specialized in engineering, art, design, production, and executive roles across all game development disciplines for both contract and fulltime positions.
Employer Branding: Employee value proposition development, careers page optimization, social media strategy, university relations programs and tradeshow presence strategy.
Engagement Programs: University and bootcamp partnerships, diversity recruiting initiatives, community building and industry event representation.
