Taking a tiny island to the world stage – Tchia celebrates with new gameplay footage

Set Sail on an Open-world Tropical Adventure Coming Early 2023

[London, 23 May, 2022] – Independent game studio, Awaceb (Fossil Echo), and Kepler Interactive, today shared a new gameplay mini-feature showcasing ocean exploration in the upcoming tropical adventure, Tchia, releasing in early 2023 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and EPIC Games Store.

The genuine love the Awaceb team have for New Caledonia, homeland of Awaceb’s co-founders, is overflowing in this gameplay snippet with its emphasis on cruising the glistening blue waters that surround the island, exploring the ocean depths and traversing the waterway of a beautiful archipelago . The art style, colour palettes and music come together to create something incredibly heartwarming and welcoming.

Away from the water, Tchia also draws inspiration from the flora and fauna of New Caledonia to create a charming open-world to explore – take control of almost any animal or object you can find, or jam on your fully playable Ukulele!

Tchia will be moving to an early 2023 release to give the development team more time to realise their creative vision. See HERE for a message from the Awaceb team.

Tchia will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and EPIC Games Store. For more information please visit https://www.awaceb.com/tchia.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Reveals Year 7 Season 2

Operation Vector Glare arrives on June 7 with Belgian Operator, Close Quarter map, onboarding tools

Sydney, Australia— May 23, 2022 — Today, Ubisoftrevealed Operation Vector Glare, the second season of Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 7, will arrive on June 7. This season introduces Sens, a new Belgian Operator, a new Team Deathmatch map, Phase 1 of the new Reputation System bringing Privacy Mode and other updates, a narrative change, and more gameplay improvements.

Operation Vector Glare puts strategy at the forefront with new Attacker Sens, a brilliant tactician from Belgium with military experience and training in psychology. Their R.O.U. Projector System gadget deploys a wheel that travels in a straight line to leave behind small projectors and self-destructs after a set amount of time. The projectors construct a wall of light that blocks players’ line of sight, so making a versatile approach fits right into Sens’ wheelhouse. They are a low speed, high health Operator, carrying a new weapon, the POF-9 or a 417 as a primary weapon and an SDP 9MM or a GONNE-6 as a secondary weapon.

Alongside Sens, an exclusive new map for Team Deathmatch mode arrives at season launch. Set in Greece, Close Quarter is the first dedicated Team Deathmatch map that focuses on movement rather than defense setups. With a circular flow and a good mix of different lines of sight, this facility will be a unique experience for players to try.

As part of the Year 7 roadmap, Phase 1 of the Reputation System arrives this season to continue addressing player behaviour improvements. In this update, Reverse Friendly Fire will be activated by default for those who injure too many teammates. Players will receive two warnings before the penalty is activated, and sanctions expire after playing multiple matches without injuring teammates. Further updates address those who misuse the match cancellation system by bringing more control to players throughout the process, from the initial request to the match cancellation itself. In addition, Privacy options are now available to all players in the Options menu.

Two onboarding tools will be added this season: Shooting Range, a playable space to practice, train, and experiment with weapon damage, attachments, and recoils without the pressure of a match to find the best loadout; and Operator Guide, which informs players about each Operator, their unique abilities, gadgets, and any tips for Attacker or Defender strategies. Further updates include a third slot for secondary weapons for certain Operators; and an option to adjust screen shake intensity.

As announced at the Six Invitational 2022, a narrative change will be coming to the Siege universe: the Rainbow Six Operators will now be split into specialized units. These squads will work together to fulfill Rainbow’s mandate of global protection. Operation Vector Glare introduces the Wolfguard squad, the world’s foremost humanitarian military unit known for its compassionate and careful approach. Most of Wolfguard’s members are trained in field medicine and specialize in protection of some kind: Lion, Montagne, Nomad, Twitch, Ying, Sens, Clash, Melusi, Bandit, Frost, Thunderbird, Castle, and their team leader, Doc.

Ubisoft is partnering with SEGA and its Yakuza franchise to create two exclusive skin bundles for Rainbow Six Siege. A bundle inspired by Kaoru Sayama will be available for Hibana, and a bundle inspired by Kiryu Kazuma will be available for Echo. Additionally, a new elite skin for Echo inspired by another iconic character from the Yakuza games will be coming soon.

Also coming with Operation Vector Glare is the Squad Up Reactivation Program: players will be able to invite up to four former teammates who have not played during Year 7. After playing five matches together, in any PVP game mode, both players will earn big rewards. Players inviting their former teammates will earn rewards for each of their four friends completing the program: from new Year 6 Operators, a new exotic weapon skin or other fallback rewards including Battle Pass points if they already own those Operators. Each returning invited player, after playing five matches, will unlock a Year 4 or Year 5 Operator or other fallback rewards.

Rainbow Six Siege is now available to play on PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, the Xbox One family of consoles, Xbox Series X | S, Windows PC, including on Ubisoft+, Ubisoft’s subscription service*, Amazon Luna, and Stadia.

2D Action Platformer TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity Ascends from Early Access on PC, Nintendo Switch June 2

New level elements, final boss, ending, and modding features added to version 1.0

TOKYO – May 21, 2022 — TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity, the 2D roguelike action-platformer set in a regenerating tower developed by //commentout and published by PLAYISM, ascends from Steam Early Access into version 1.0 on PC and welcomes Nintendo Switch to the climb on Tuesday, June 2, 2022.

Lead one of five heroes through their trials and tribulations as they seek escape from a shifting tower constructed from the broken remains of a forgotten world. Learn each playable character’s backstory as they climb, why the structure compelled them to enter it, and what it takes to truly escape from their repeating fate.

Each hero can only protect themselves from the tower’s many foes with screen-clearing magic skills that deal significant damage to enemies for a short time but take up to 30 seconds to recharge. Find items to reduce cooldown times, grant different effects to attacks, and help provide protection. Climb up high enough, and choose to pray to an angel or a devil capable of granting branching paths toward the tower’s apex.

Sprint through a collection of unpredictable rooms filled with chaotic traps and enemy attacks reminiscent of a bullet hell shooter. Use powerful abilities to clear out the screen and deftly dodge foes with precision platforming while the cooldown timer replenishes! Defeat bosses by mastering the ebb and flow of spellcasting and dodging, and stay alive long enough to discover the next powerful artifact. Don’t dawdle, as a karma meter begins to tick down further up the tower, with its depletion meaning certain doom.

Clear each floor with fury and finesse to earn points and soar up the daily leaderboards. Wander by gravemarkers of fellow travelers who failed their escalade and read their parting words. Perish before reaching the pinnacle and leave a helpful message for others on their attempts, or express frustration to the world from beyond the grave. Don’t get too familiar with the fortress’ surroundings; for every 24 hours a brand new tower arises, with fresh challenges within.

Veterans of the Early Access version and those entering the tower on Nintendo Switch can play the practice mode to fight bosses and earn achievements. Each day brings unseen trials, with new level elements added to the game and additional auto-generated variations for more unpredictable challenges each day. Fight a new final boss and discover the true ending to these travelers’ stories.

Steam version 1.0 also introduces an expansive new set of character customization options. Add custom skins to each of the five heroes, as well as their own dialogue, intro, and endings. PLAYISM and //commentout are collaborating with a variety of illustrators, game designers, and streamers to introduce official custom characters in a future update.

“Early Access was important for the development of TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity as player feedback influenced many of our design decisions,” said saebashi, Founder, //commentout. “I know Nintendo Switch players are ready to climb the tower alongside their Steam brethren and threaten some of our regulars atop the leaderboards!”

TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity will be availablefor $11.99 on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2022, on Steam for PC and Nintendo Switch with support for English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese text. The Early Access version is available now for $9.99 on Steam, and Nintendo Switch players can preorder the game at a 20% discount.

The Use of Life, Gamebook-Inspired JRPG, Surprise Releases on Steam Early Access

TOKYO – May 21, 2022 – The Use of Life, the gamebook JRPG with roguelike elements from developer Daraneko Games and publisher PLAYISM, sets out to avenge its clan starting today on Steam Early Access for PC, following a surprise launch today during INDIE Live Expo 2022.

Set out as Goshe, a young Rabbitfolk who gains the ominous ability to siphon powers from the dead after his home village is destroyed and burnt to ashes. Make decisions wisely, as each action, line of dialogue, and path Goshe chooses affects the course of the story and his Flame of Life and Flame of Power. These character aspects unlock new choices and determine whether he ultimately uses his life for the good of others or himself.

Engage in “choose your own adventure”-style gameplay paired with dice-like random number events that determine the outcome of skill checks and if Goshe can avoid conflict or spur on more dangerous battles. Discover the first two chapters of the game in Early Access, leading Goshe down a path of vengeance against those who wronged him or one of finding peace amidst the horrific trauma he endured.

Square off against foes in JRPG-style combat, where each side chooses three actions at the beginning of each turn in battle, not knowing what the other will use. Goshe can utilize a combination of skillful sword strikes, powerful elemental magic, resourceful items, and defensive maneuvers. When the enemy attacks, tap the correct direction in time to reduce incoming damage or block the attack entirely, but one wrong move could lead to a critical hit.

Earn curse EXP to enhance Goshe’s stats and SP to level up different classes, unlocking new abilities and tactical options in battle. Improving stats makes Goshe a more fearsome warrior and can unlock new dialogue options and choices in events that shape the fate of him and his foes. Death isn’t just the end, as Goshe can retry a certain number of times based on difficulty level, but running out of retries means Goshe must begin his journey from scratch.

“I believe there’s a shared tension in roguelikes and gamebooks that video games just haven’t quite unlocked yet, and The Use of Life is my attempt to explore an undiscovered harmony between them,” said the sole developer at Daraneko Games. “Every decision counts, and I hope Early Access serves as a way to help shape my game for the better.”

The Use of Life is available now on Steam Early Access for Windows PC for $17.99 with support for English and Japanese language text.

Watch the Announcement Trailer:

The Valiant is an upcoming action-RTS with RPG elements, designed to bring a fresh experience to players wanting something new in the genre. Focused on more tactical combat with smaller forces, players encounter a sweeping, story-driven campaign where each mission’s challenge is unique. Decisions both on and off the battlefield count, as players will want to select their forces carefully for each mission (no base building here!), as well as decide the skills and equipment given to each hero. With three unique skill trees per hero, there are plenty of options to explore when finding the playstyle that fits best, and Valiant’s fast-paced, melee-centric combat will give new challenges to even the most veteran RTS player

The Valiant also offers two different multiplayer modes: competitive and cooperative. While the game’s campaign is designed as a single-player experience, 3 friends can enjoy the Last Man Standing mode together and hold their ground against waves of enemies, including mini-bosses and bosses. Success will be rewarded with experience to level up the selected hero, granting new skills and better stats for future challenges. The PVP mode offers 1v1 or 2v2 scenarios that consist of swift and thrilling clashes as players capture control points and build up their forces. As players earn more victories, they’ll be able to unlock a wide range of visual customisation that can be leveraged throughout the game experience.

SNIPER ELITE 5 TAKES KILL CAM TO THE NEXT LEVEL

See your most clinical shots in increased detail. SMG and pistols kills can now trigger Kill Cam.

Sydney, Australia – 20th May, 2022:  Rebellion, one of the world’s most successful video games developers and publishers, has today released a new gameplay trailer for Sniper Elite 5 which showcases the enhancements made to its genre defining slow motion Kill Cam. For the first time in the series Kill Cam can now be triggered by particularly clinical shots using SMGs and pistols as well as for eliminations using rifles and takedowns.

Watch the Kill Cam Enhanced trailer here

Enhancements have been made to both the physics and the visuals behind Sniper Elite 5’s Kill Cam. Bullets can now ricochet off bones causing even further internal devastation which is shown to the player in more detail thanks to enhancements in the visual representation of the characters including more definition on the skeleton, muscles, organs and sinew.

The inclusion of iron sights for both SMGs and pistols, a first for the series, will allow players to be more accurate with those weapons, which will in turn trigger a Kill Cam for the most clinical of shots. Players will also have control over the Kill Cam in real time with ability to speed up/slow down the cinematic as well as being able to adjust the camera angle.

A favourite feature with fans of the franchise, the frequency with which a player sees Kill Cam can be adjusted in the game’s menu, including the ability to turn it off completely.

The weapons in Sniper Elite 5 have been painstakingly recreated from real world reference to ensure maximum authenticity. Players can now customise their weapons by discovering workbenches hidden within the missions. Each workbench will unlock further customisation options. This means that they can adjust their chosen loadout to suit their individual play style and the objective that they are undertaking.

Xbox announces new accessibility features in honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day

Cultivating an inclusive gaming industry doesn’t stop at race and gender. It also includes accessibility and working to remove barriers for the 400 million players with disabilities across the globe.

Today, in honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), Xbox announced several new accessibility updates and features for players. It’s all part of Xbox’s mission to amplify and celebrate players with disabilities and highlight the importance of digital access and inclusion. Among the announcements:

  • Firmware updates to the Xbox Adaptive Controller that include the ability to increase size and add tooltips for button images on the Xbox Adaptive Controller’s remapping screen.
  • The ability to search and then filter Game Accessibility Feature Tags in the Xbox Store. The Accessibility Feature Tags, announced last fall, are designed to make it easier for gamers with disabilities to determine if a game is right for them. There are 20 tags in total, based on extensive user research and discussions with our Gaming & Disability Community. With this new update, players can search and then filter tags for over 400 titles.
  • The recent launch of the ASL Xbox Twitch channel. Every day, the Xbox Plays team goes live on the Xbox Twitch channel, playing the latest and greatest titles from the world of Xbox. In April, they launched an All-ASL Twitch channel featuring interpretation for approximately 25 hours of livestreams each week.
  • The recent launch of “BuildAbility” in Minecraft: Education Edition. In May, M:EE launched an accessibility World in partnership with the PEEL school, where students can understand, identify, and work to eliminate accessibility barriers in their school and community… all within the Minecraft universe.
  • Xbox Accessibility Guidelines (XAGs) 3.0 update with information on mental health. Based off community and developer feedback, the Xbox Accessibility Guidelines (XAGs) 3.0 update published in May includes a new mental health guideline, as well as info on motion sickness and expanded details on text sizing.
