Fans with the newly announced Resident Evil™ 4 on their bingo cards are also in luck, as Director Yasuhiro Ampo and Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi discussed the modern reimagining of the 2005 classic. The development team aims to dial up the original release’s key feelings of loneliness and the fear of enemies blinded by zealotry; when the action-packed survival horror title reawakens March 24, 2023.

Until then, players can sink their teeth into three enhanced Resident Evil™ games. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players can upgrade at no additional cost via the digital upgrade program and Smart Delivery.

Exoprimal Forecasts an Early Dinosaur Outbreak on the Horizon

To prepare players before they suit up in mechanized combat armor and join the fight, Exoprimal Director Takuro Hiraoka presented a briefing on the dynamic main game mode, Dino Survival. In this multiplayer experience, two squads of five Exofighters race to complete orders assigned by Leviathan, the sinister artificial intelligence behind the dinosaur outbreaks. Teams must complete missions before their rivals to win, stay alive, and continue searching for a way to escape Leviathan’s deadly games.

A new trailer teased a selection of objectives that make up Dino Survival. These include VTOL Defence, where squads defend downed aircraft from dinosaur onslaughts, and Omega Charge, which introduces a massive hammer that Exofighters will wield to obliterate targets. The video also unveiled two new Assault class Exosuits that are absolutely armed to the teeth. Barrage, a burning bombardier, and the rail gun-wielding sniper Vigilant join a growing armoury of futuristic suits that teams can swap between on-the-fly to coordinate and overcome any challenge. While many situations pit players against hordes of dinosaurs, there are others where they clash directly with opposing squads, and even some where rival teams must band together to take-down common foes, like the twisted Neo Tyrannosaurus.

New Challengers Arise

Dragon’s Dogma™ Director Hideaki Itsuno also joined the program to thank fans as the open-world action franchise celebrates its 10th anniversary. Arisen can look forward to a dedicated video message from the team later this week, so tune in to the Dragon’s Dogma YouTube channel on June 17, 2022 at 8:00 AM AEST.

Celestial MMORPG “Starkeepers” Announced at IGN’s Summer of Gaming Expo

Celestial MMORPG “Starkeepers” Announced at IGN’s Summer of Gaming Expo

BEIJING, China – June 11, 2022 – Starkeepers, the experimental community-driven MMORPG inspired by astrological myths coming to PC via Steam, made its world premiere at the IGN Summer of Gaming Expo 2022.

Wolfpack Games is an indie developer with a veteran team that includes the Head Producer for the Lord of the Rings MMO project (Leyou Technologies). Past team experience also includes development work on Warframe, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, Transformers: Cybertron Adventures, and Age of Conan – a classic MMO hit, adding a “stellar” twist to a cherished genre employing decades of combined action adventure and MMO experience.

Many eons ago, benevolent cosmic creators broke through the eternal darkness of the primordial oblivion and carefully stitched together an expansive celestial multiverse in its place. The omnipotent divinity then called upon their beloved children, the Astrals, to safeguard the universe in their wake. Immerse in a vast open-world of boundless opportunity through the eyes of these ancient spirits, and craft a legacy worthy of a place in the mythological pantheon.

Immortalize on the physical plane as one of many noble warriors known as Starkeepers, and set off to dismantle impending Eldritch threats. Drive captivating narratives by fostering relationships with opposing factions, encountering magnificent beasts, and battling corrupted Gods in grand seasonal Epics. Harness the power of star relics to master complex combat techniques and chart a path less followed through dynamic branching questlines.

Forge unbreachable bonds with fellow Astrals at the dawn of each season, and combine resources to build elaborate strongholds called Starkeeps. Construct winding labyrinths of bulwarks armed to the teeth with guns, turrets, and traps to fend against rival clans. Form diplomatic councils to declare war and lay siege to enemy bases, gaining territorial dominance in cutthroat PvP tournaments.

Etch a memorable name in the stars by making a lasting and defining difference for all of the omniverse’s inhabitants. Serve justly on a clan’s governmental board to declare fair-minded laws, manage clan resources, and establish order within each group as players interact across the realm. Engage in a fully evolving, player-driven free-market economy to trade resources, gear, cosmetics, and anything else required to align with the demands of the battlefield.

Starkeepers is a true passion project from an experienced team of MMORPG developers and fans,” says Stephen Wang, Co-Founder and CEO, Wolfpack Games. “The team strives to create a captivating experience driven by community involvement for years to come and we’re thrilled to be starting that journey now!”

About Wolfpack Games

3D Realms’ Retro Horror FPS CULTIC Drops Updated Demo For Steam Next Fest

3D Realms’ Retro Horror FPS CULTIC Drops Updated Demo For Steam Next Fest

Revamped Survival Mode Inspired By Resident Evil 4’s “The Mercenaries”, Improved Graphics, Weapon Upgrades

KANSAS — 14 June, 2022CULTIC, the horror-themed shooter with classic visuals and modern combat developed by Jasozz Games and published by 3D Realms, today releases an updated demo for Steam Next Fest featuring an overhauled playable map, wave-based Survival Mode, refined combat and graphics, and weapon upgrades.

Attempting to uncover the truth behind recent kidnappings and gruesome murders, a disgraced detective follows a trail of clues and discovers a fortified compound in an asylum thought to be abandoned. Barely two steps out of his vehicle, he is ambushed from the shadows. He awakens in a mass grave, wounds fresh, but strangely unbleeding. Struggling to understand his inexplicable resurrection, he rises to crush the cult and stop their forsaken rituals.

Today’s demo includes a revamped Survival mode inspired by Resident Evil 4’s “The Mercenaries” and Killing Floor, complete with multiple difficulties and global leaderboards. Purchase weapons, ammo, health and armor between waves, then blast cultists, skeletons, armored knights, ghosts, and other outlandish enemies from CULTIC’s campaign. Play aggressively or stick to cover, but watch the timer or it’s “game over”. Survival Mode will include more maps at full launch.

The newly-revamped intro level has never looked better. Start with nothing but a hatchet and grit and tear through the cult, one zealot at a time. CULTIC’s overhauled sprites and voxels hearken back to ‘90 shooters, but introduces contemporary combat filled with headshots, improvisation, and fluid movement. Dash through bullets, slide past opponents, then smash their faces with chairs and other objects in an interactive environment.

Scavenge for Weapon Parts throughout CULTIC’s demo to upgrade mid-century firearms like the C96, STEN Mk.V, and a sawed-off coach gun. Each weapon offers unique upgrades ranging from higher-caliber shots to more accurate aiming and alternate fire modes. Survive untold horrors amplified by a gothic-orchestral soundtrack, and unearth the truth behind the cult – one shotgun shell at a time.

CULTIC will be available on PC later this year. Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch versions will come after. Follow Jasozz Games for development updates, as well as 3D Realms on Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube for up to date information.

A year ago, we launched Prime Matter and said we would release games from all corners of the world, giving developers a chance to show their talent and passion globally.

One year later – amidst challenges both global and local – we’ve released great games from studios in North America, Asia, Europe and South America. We formed alliances with the infamous robbers of Payday, became fearless intrepid space explorers in DOLMEN, reveled in the diesel-punk destruction of Iron Harvest, lost our backpack countless times in Outward, licked one too many faces in Encased and enforced Ranger Law across the world of Wasteland 3, and our journey is only beginning.

Prime Matter has even more great games on deck. We’ll introduce you to megalomaniac AIs in System Shock and scare the yoga pants off you with the spiritual cult horror of The Chant, both of which are coming soon. Down the road we’ll deliver even more medieval action, a few bank jobs, chilling suspense in space, a kingdom to save and all the bear [not a typo] necessities to keep gamers delighted for years to come.

None of this would have been possible without two groups of people: The amazing teams behind the games who breathe life into these projects, and YOU, our amazing players who make it all worthwhile.

NEW ZEALAND VIDEO GAME SALES CONTINUE UPWARD TRAJECTORY

NEW ZEALAND VIDEO GAME SALES CONTINUE UPWARD TRAJECTORY

Auckland, NEW ZEALAND – 14 June 2022 – The demand for video games in New Zealand continues to explode according to consumer sales data released today by the Interactive Games and Entertainment Association (IGEA).  In 2021, Kiwis spent over $540 million on video games and consoles.

Video game hardware sales were almost $71 million dollars, leading to strong software sales in both digital and physical formats.  New Zealand gamers are mostly purchasing products in a digital format and also love mobile games with sales exceeding $197 million in 2021.

IGEA has recently updated agreements with data suppliers sourcing consumer sales from GSD and Newzoo++.  GSD reports on major publisher and hardware sales in both physical and digital format across numerous international markets, while Newzoo reports on game sales data globally. Working with IGEA members, we ensured both sources offer reliable and consistent consumer sales data from around the world that identifies global trends.   Newzoo also provides subscription data which is essential when looking at how subscription services impact the way Australians are now playing games.

Tom Wijman, Head of Market Analysis & Forecasting at Newzoo said, “New Zealand’s market for digital PC and console games grew again year on year to $225 million. The growing install base for game consoles as well as further lockdown measures lead too oan overagll growthi in sales for 2021.  The market for mobile games grew faster than any other segment, but unlike the global average, New Zealand’s PC and console markets are still larger than its mobile market.”

Aidan Sakiris, ANZ Territory Manager and Senior Analyst at GSD contributes, “Total New Zealand video game spending was in growth for 2021 driven by a sizeable increase in Hardware sales year-on-year. This was largely due to the heightened availability of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S throughout the year, but also the increasing relevance of Nintendo Switch in the New Zealand market. Software charts comprised of new releases including FIFA 22 and Far Cry 6 as the top performers, but also select titles generally being sold alongside new hardware purchases such as Spiderman: Miles Morales on PS5 as well as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.”

Ron Curry, CEO of IGEA says “New Zealanders have long had a love for playing video games and continue to embrace playing games in all formats.  According to our Digital New Zealand 2022 (DNZ22) report, over 3.7 million New Zealanders play games.  Games are played not only for fun and entertainment but for social connection and education with consumer sales growing accordingly.  Playing games is part of every day life for the majority of Kiwis ”
