Today, and throughout the year, Xbox is celebrating the rich histories of Indigenous peoples all over the world for International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.
Representation is important. We say this throughout the year for all underrepresented communities, but it’s particularly important for the Indigenous community. Each tribe has a unique style to their artwork as well as medium (e.g. basketry).
We worked with Indigenous artists across the world to redesign the Xbox logo in a way that was authentic to them and their tribes. In Australia and New Zealand, Xbox ANZ partnered up with Rubii Red, and Haimona Maruera and Dillon King respectively.
“The work is my interpretation of connection, community, and journey. A lot of my work reflects those themes, because as a First Nations woman, they are important to me and have helped shape me into the person I am today. I’m on a journey, learning about who I am by connecting to the community and learning more about my culture from my Elders,” said Rubii, who produced a stylized logo in the traditional Lama Lama style.
Haimona and Dillon created an Xbox Sphere that followed traditional Māori styling. “As proud descendants of Ngāti Ruanui, Te Āti Haunui-ā-Pāpārangi, Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga and Ngāti Kahungunu ki Te Wairoa, this design derives from the Māori atua (god) named Māui. Māui was the infamous atua known by several names such as Māui- Pōtiki (the last born), Māui-Tinihanga (the mischief), Māui-Tikitiki-a-Taranga (the topknot o Taranga), and Māui-te-whare-kino (the house of trouble). This infamous atua brought the inquisitive and the intellectual attributes to our world. This Xbox logo represents the key art functions of Te Ao Māori, which we practice as guardians of our culture and identity,” says Haimona.
“This sphere design depicts multiple art forms that the indigenous people of Aotearoa uphold and practice as carriers and guardians of our culture and identity.”
Xbox will be taking additional initiatives to celebrate Indigenous peoples around the world throughout the rest of the year. To learn more about these initiatives, or to see all of the designs from our talented Indigenous partners, head over to Xbox Wire.

London (August 9, 2022) During today’s Monster Hunter™ Rise: Sunbreak Digital Event, Series Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and Director Yoshitake Suzuki announced Title Update 1, the first free title update for the top-selling Monster Hunter™ Rise: Sunbreak expansion will arrive on Aug. 10, 2022. This update is bristling with new content for the Kingdom’s heroic hunters, including the return of four fan-favorite monsters, plus an expansion to the Anomaly Quest system for increased challenges and rewards. In addition to all the content arriving tomorrow for hunters who have reached Master Rank 10, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak players will also receive new Event Quests every week following the update.
Last seen in 2013’s Monster Hunter™ 3 Ultimate, Lucent Nargacuga refracts moonlight off its bright white fur to become nearly invisible, save for its piercing red eyes. Its relentless attacks and incredible swiftness make it a punishing target for even the most experienced hunters. This agile predator makes its roost in the newly redesigned Forlorn Arena, defined by crumbling stone buildings and colonnades. As if one unseen foe wasn’t enough to handle, hunters must also prepare for Seething Bazelgeuse to crash the party with its incredibly volatile explosive scales. Known as an airborne menace with a penchant for arriving at the most inconvenient of times, Seething Bazelgeuse brings a bombastic flair to any hunt. Finally, Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos are also swooping into Title Update 1. These rare subspecies are even more ferocious than their iconic counterparts. In addition, the armors that can be created from the monsters’ materials added in ver.11 will include new unique skills.
Alongside these harrowing new contenders, the Anomaly Research Quest system is being expanded as part of Title Update 1. The new Five-Star rating for Anomaly Quests has been unlocked, which includes new afflicted monsters such as Lunagaron and Magma Almudron who can be unlocked by progressing through the new Anomaly Investigation Quests. In addition, a new quest system, Anomaly Investigations has also been added. These quests offer randomized quest conditions, such as target monsters, locales, and number of hunters at gradually increasing difficulty ratings. The higher the difficulty rating, the better the rewards! Anomaly Investigations also offer new materials that enable hunters to further customize their equipment in Qurious Crafting. Hunters can customize their preferred enhancements, such as attack power and affinity for weapons, and for armors, defense, resistance, skill points can be randomly changed. Hunters looking for specific materials can stop by Bahari the Scientist’s new Anomaly Research Lab to exchange special items gained from Anomaly Investigations with items useful for Qurious Crafting.
In addition to all of this content, new Event Quests will begin rolling out every week starting Aug. 18, 2022, alongside extra challenging “Dual Threats” hunts for those looking to test their mettle. Fashion hunters and Fiorayne fanatics also have plenty to celebrate, with new DLC options for layered armor, hairstyles, stickers, BGM, and even NPC costumes that allow hunters to mirror their favorite characters in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. The layered armor set allows players to take on the appearance of Fiorayne, and the voice DLC will give the players her voice during their hunts. Please stay tuned for future title updates as new monsters, and more await just around the corner with the Free Title Update 2 launching in late September.

The Azimuth Saga of Elite Dangerous concludes with a unique cinematic login experience for commanders – and the shape of things to come.
Cambridge, UK – 9 August 2022. Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV, ‘Frontier’) today concluded Elite Dangerous’ Azimuth Saga storyline and unveiled Aftermath, the next phase of the narrative that’ll lead into content updates for the rest of the year and beyond. The Azimuth Saga finale saw the contentious figure Salvation attempt to stop the Thargoid menace in their tracks with the Proteus Wave, a powerful Anti-Xeno weapon. Ultimately, the activation process ended in catastrophic failure, and the repercussions from the event have now begun. Salvation himself, meanwhile, is nowhere to be found.
The beginning of Aftermath coincides with the release of Update 13 for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, and sets the stage for the future of humanity’s relationship with the Thargoids. When commanders head to the Anti-Xeno Conflict Zones in the system HIP 22460, where Salvation’s Proteus Wave was activated, they’ll witness the fallout for themselves – the Megaships Bright Sentinel and Heart of Taurus have been destroyed. Wrecks of numerous capital ships and constant Thargoid attacks now await any commanders brave enough to jump into the fray. Commanders with Guardian technology on their ships will also find themselves compromised while in HIP 22460, with modules decaying rapidly or even being destroyed.
Following the Azimuth Saga conclusion, the way players engage with events in Elite Dangerous is changing. Currently, the Elite Dangerous base game and Odyssey exist on different code bases – 3.8 and 4.0 respectively. Going forward, to ensure the storyline can continue to expand in scope and quality, new events and gameplay elements will only be released on the 4.0 code base.
PC players
Anyone who owns a copy of Elite Dangerous on PC will be able to enjoy the benefits of the 4.0 code base, which will include updated graphics and all improvements from post-Odyssey updates around performance, UI/UX and other features. Players won’t need to own a copy of Elite Dangerous: Odyssey to access 4.0 – details on how 4.0 will be made available to all Elite Dangerous players on PC will be revealed at a later date. Players who wish to experience the on-foot content of Odyssey, among other features, will have the option to purchase it separately. More detailed information on 4.0 feature availability to all Elite Dangerous owners can be found here.
Console players
Frontier’s goal is to open up the next ambitious phase of Elite Dangerous’ storyline to as many players as possible – including the upcoming option for PlayStation and Xbox console players to benefit from a limited time console profile transfer process so they can start to enjoy the benefits of the 4.0 code base by transitioning to PC – more details on that can be found here.
The option to continue to enjoy all existing Elite Dangerous content in 3.8, rather than transitioning to 4.0, will remain available to players on both PC and console.
The next major narrative phase of Elite Dangerous has now begun, and there’s much more to come – the next instalment, Update 14, will represent a huge moment for the game as the Aftermath storyline kicks into high gear.
Elite Dangerous: Odyssey is available to purchase now on Steam, via the Epic Games Store, or via the Frontier Store.
Note: In order to play Elite Dangerous: Odyssey players must also own a copy of the Elite Dangerous base game.
