FREE DEMO now available for goblin-fueled survival city-builder, Goblins of Elderstone

Get a taste of building your own goblin tribe in a colorful and unique take on the city-builder genre

Auckland, New Zealand – 23rd June 2022 – Outerdawn is unleashing goblins on the gaming population this weekend with a free demo, running alongside the Steam Summer Sale, where players can also purchase Goblins of Elderstone for $9.99 / £7.75 / €8.39, 50% off the regular price.

The free demo will present a limited number of features in hour-long play sessions so that players can jump right in and start building and working with their goblins. Once the demo has been completed, anyone wishing to buy the full version of Goblins of Elderstone can upload the progress they made during the demo and receive rewards retroactively.

Goblins of Elderstone has a lot of deeper functionalities outside of just city building, so we wanted to release a free demo to offer players the chance to experience the core mechanics and then dig deeper into the other features in the full version if they buy the game, which is also available for 50% off on Steam!”, said Gustav Seymore, Creative Director of the game. “We encourage you to join our Discord tribe to report bugs and issues, join in on discussions and generally to keep in touch! We’re gearing up for full launch, so your feedback is most welcome! Have fun!”

More information about Goblins of Elderstone

Goblins of Elderstone
is a unique take on the city-building genre with a goblin-fuelled survival approach where nurturing tribal dynamics is key. Your emphasis is not only on buildings and commerce in your town, but on crafting the culture of its inhabitants and making sure they are happy. Treat your goblins well and they will (mostly) listen to you. Fail to meet their needs and expect them to riot, steal and kill each other.

In addition to gathering resources and crafting structures, you must engage a layer of diplomacy as you navigate relationships with neighboring tribes, intrepid explorers, bandits, heroes and even gods. Your wits and skill at bartering/bribery negotiations, as well as the occasional pillaging, will help you transform Elderstone from a small village into an empire to be reckoned with.

Two Decades. Two Identities. It’s Going to Take Everything You’ve Got to Survive the Night. Explosive New Trailer Released for The Gallery

Navigate a story full of mystery and intrigue in the thrilling new FMV/Live Action Game and Interactive Film Hybrid.

London, UK – 23rd June 2022 . Aviary Studios is thrilled to unveil the official trailer for The Gallery, the highly anticipated FMV/live action video game and interactive film hybrid, written and directed by Paul Raschid, one of the most prolific creatives in this space. Scheduled for release from 1st August, 2022 on Steam (PC and Mac), Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation consoles, iOS and Android platforms. The Gallery is a thrilling combination of hostage thriller and social drama with a dash of world film festival cinema aesthetic.

This new, intense trailer has been created to engage both gamers and interactive film fans with its blend of powerful visuals depicting the games’ two time periods – 1981 and 2021, both of which are of considerable political, social and cultural significance in UK history.

Check out The Gallery announcement promo here

Filmed over a 6 week period in February and March, 2021, the game immerses audiences in an interactive experience set in two time periods – 1981 and 2021 where players will face over 150 decision paths and 18 different endings over around 5 hours of content as they navigate a story full of mystery and intrigue.

The interactive authoring for The Gallery was provided by Stornaway.io. The Unity game engine build was undertaken by Edgeloop  Ltd.

The Gallery boasts a stellar cast including George Blagden (Louis XIV in Versailles and Athelstan in Vikings) and Anna Popplewell (Susan Pevensie in Disney’s Narnia franchise)

Asked who they think The Gallery will appeal to they commented;

“I think The Gallery will appeal to many different viewers – not only the gaming community, who already have experience with this kind of story-telling, but also the film and TV genre audiences and anyone into thriller/action/drama really!” Said George Blagden.

Anna Popplewell added “For the gaming community, we hope it delivers perhaps a fuller and more detailed story than viewers might expect. And for those who might not be used to watching things with an interactive component, there is the thrill of a new way of storytelling.”

When asked how they found the experience filming a FMV / live action video game and interactive film hybrid the actors commented:

“Confusing, gratifying, maddening, exciting, challenging, wonderful!” Said Anna Popplewell.

George Blagden said  “Unexpected, on every level.  I thought I knew what the process would be. I was wrong. It was 10 times harder, and more confusing than I could ever have imagined. I thought I knew what the outcome would be. I was wrong. The result is way more complex and detailed than I thought was achievable in a 6 week shoot. I can’t wait to try to find other ways of bridging this gap between films and video games with projects in the future”.

The Gallery is scheduled to roll out from 1st August 2022 on Steam (PC and Mac), Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation consoles, iOS and Android platforms. The Gallery is localized (subtitled) into 11 languages: Arabic, Chinese (simplified), French, Italian, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazilian) Russian, Spanish (Latin America) and Turkish.

Stunlock Studios is building on their experience with their top-down brawler Battlerite for their next game V Rising. It is a vampire themed crafting survival game using a similar top down brawler mechanic for combat. V Rising is currently on Steam Early Access with plans for more content being added over the next year before a full release.

There isn’t too much of a plot in V Rising. Most of the writing is dedicated to the short biographies of the V Blood targets the player will hunt down over the course of the game. It’s nothing special, but it does give a little life to the characters.

V Rising’s crafting survival mechanics are the standard affair. Players will run around the map collecting resources and fending off enemy. Since this is a vampire themed game, the needs of the undead are a little different than the mortals. The vampiric themed mechanics are done well. They follow the standard lore closely and provide compelling gameplay without being intrusive. For example, the player needs to keep their blood pool topped up to heal themselves. The developers add an extra layer of complexity by having all the enemies in game have their own blood type and quality which will dictate what buffs the player will have. Blood pools are large enough that finding high quality blood is not only a reward that will last quite some time, but it also rewards players for coming prepared with other sources of healing items and avoiding damage by dragging out the buff length.

The crafting system is a work in progress. There’s a large tech tree to grind through that will take players from basic bone and stone tools all the way up to exotic dark silver weapons. The crafting rate needs to be tweaked though. The game is currently scaled for groups of three or more players which makes soloing or playing as a pair quite the grind. Players will have to dip into the server settings to bump up drop rates and speed up craft timers if they don’t want to spend forever grinding.

Luckily, Stunlock Studios has created a very flexible server configuration that lets players have a lot of granular control over the gameplay experience. The developers even provided several presets to scale the game at different difficulty levels. Considering the grind, a few extra presets designed to scale the game for solo players would have been a great addition. Also, an editor that allows players to edit these settings in game after the server is created would be handy as players currently need to edit the actual config file itself to make changes.

V Rising doesn’t deviate far from the genre’s formula in terms of base building. There’s a mix of production and cosmetic parts so players can build their ideal castle. There isn’t a huge variety for cosmetics right now, but the more important buildings with actual practical functions are there. I really like how the game encourages players to organize their castle into rooms with matching floor types to give their production buildings bonuses. It restricts the cosmetics a little, but the extra planning is a nice touch. My only annoyance with the building mechanics right now is placing buildings near the bottom of the screen can be difficult to see as the menu can get in the way. It would be nice if the build menu was temporarily replaced with a stripped-down set of instructions for place or cancel.

The combat in V Rising is without a doubt the star of the show so far. Combat is probably best described as skill forward. It’s nowhere near as punishing as a Souls game, but it’s not a mindless brawler either. Players will need to master the basic dodge mechanics to survive. The V Blood targets offer more complex boss mechanics, including some memorable fights like the armourer. The game feels tight and responsive in combat, and it’s a real joy.

Like many other things, balance is still being worked out. Crossbows are in an odd place. The range makes them difficult to balance since V Rising supports both PVE and PVP gameplay. On the other hand, their current state makes them inferior to other weapons due to their low damage output and painfully slow speeds. At this point, the game would be better served by either buffing the damage or removing crossbows completely if it is too unbalanced for PVP.

The audio/visual presentation so far is excellent. The soundtrack is full of enjoyable ambient and orchestral tracks that fit the vampire theme well. The sound and visual effects are solid. The visual effects are used in a smart way to convey important gameplay mechanics, like spending too long in the sun. The visual style has an excellent mix of moody tones in the dark that contrasts beautifully with the bright life during the day.

V Rising is already an intriguing game. It puts a unique and thematically accurate spin on the standard crafting survival game, then combines it with a solid combat system. It has a good amount of content, and the game is decently balanced considering its in Early Access. All things considered, V Rising looks like it has a very bright future ahead of it.

Recommended: A unique twist on the classic crafting survival genre featuring excellent combat and interesting vampire mechanics.

Cross play with PC will also be available from today but is optional, meaning players on Xbox can play with 10 million PC players to team up, or battle against each other.

NARAKA is also going to see the return of the game’s zombie mode, Omni’s Nightmare, with major updates. Players will now be able to pick two skills, from a random selection of three, before entering each game — and will now pick a side before the match starts which increases the likelihood of being on that side.

You can view the new gameplay trailer for Omni’s Nightmare here.

As part of the ongoing updates to the game, a new campaign mode will be coming to the later this summer, but if new players want to dive into the game before then NARAKA: BLADEPOINT is currently part of the Steam Summer Sale where there is 30% off from 9am 6/22 to 10am 7/7 PDT.

Make sure to keep up to date with all the latest NARAKA: BLADEPOINT action on the NARAKA site.
