The Pixel Pulps Collection Haunts Store Shelves Q4 2023, Features Debut of Bahnsen Knights

Funstock to bring LCB Game Studio and Chorus Worldwide’s anthology of branching visual novels, including Mothmen 1966, Varney Lake, and new title to store shelves

VANCOUVER, Canada – June 28, 2023 – The Pixel Pulps Collection, a physical-only three-in-one collection of visual novels in the series inspired by mid-20th century pulp fiction and ‘80s home computer graphics from publisher Chorus Worldwide and developer LCB Game Studio, arrives on store shelves this Q4 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, courtesy of Funstock.

Await the midnight hour (you know, the time when getting up to turn on the lights seems a tremendous, terrifying task) and sink into The Pixel Pulps Collection’s three bite-size, self-contained stories set in the same universe. Mothmen 1966Varney Lake, and Bahnsen Knights all feature paranormal investigator Lou Hill as a window into the anthology. Each title features branching narratives with puzzles and mini-games, such as Mothmen 1966’s Impossible Solitaire, and characters that speak up to help with particularly devious brain-teasers so the focus can remain on the chilling tales.

The Pixel Pulps Collection features the debut of Bahnsen Knights, with digital release dates to be announced later. Discover a world of religious fanatics who perform ‘route exorcisms’ on highways while biblical storms rip across the county. As undercover agent Boulder, follow cult leader Toni as he preaches about Hell not being below the earth, but above. Discover the fate of the last agent on the job, Cupra, and why Lou Hill’s locked in a trunk.

See where the horror began in, Mothmen 1966, where a young couple, a gas station attendant, and Lou encounter red-eyed cryptids appearing amidst the Leonid Meteor Shower and men in black ask impossible questions with seemingly no sensible answer. Sink those fangs into Varney Lake, where Lou Hill must get to the bottom of three kids’ supposed encounter with a vampire, piecing together clues and testimony from the now-adult Jimmy and Christine…and what happened to Doug?

“The pulp influence of these three stories deserve to be immortalized in physical form forever, and Funstock has been a tremendous partner in putting together a package that does justice to LCB Game Studio’s thrilling trilogy,” said Shintaro Kanaoya, president and founder, Chorus Worldwide. “They even made it so that if you lick the Switch cartridge, you’ll get inflicted with a horrible curse (please don’t lick the cartridge).”

The Pixel Pulps Collection releases Q4 2023 at video game retailers worldwide courtesy of Funstock. Bahnsen Knights will also be available digitally on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 & 5, along with versions on Steam for PC and Mac, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S at a later date. Mothmen 1966 and Varney Lake (featuring a Bahnsen Knights demo) are available now digitally on Steam for PC and Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Hunt: Showdown’s New “Tide of Shadows” Live Event Begins Today

With a new boss, pacts, weapons, and more, the Bayou is deadlier than ever!

FRANKFURT, Germany June 28, 2023 Crytek is thrilled to announce Hunt: Showdown’sTide of Shadows” Live Event launches today on PC! New challenges, gameplay, weapons, story, and a new boss await Hunters for the duration of the event, which runs until Aug. 23, 2023.

The “Tide of Shadows” Live Event introduces a new Boss category – the Wild Target. Rotjaw is a game-changing monster that brings a deadly new threat to the Bayou. Unlike other Boss enemies in the game, Rotjaw will not be found inside a compound. Instead, she lurks in the waters of the Bayou, lying in wait to attack any who encroach on her territory.

Rotjaw is designed for a new gameplay experience, forcing Hunters to improvise while defending in the wide open spaces of her watery home. Players must make decisions on the fly about how to approach and dispatch this deadly new threat. If successful, they will be rewarded with a valuable Bounty Token.

The “Tide of Shadows” Live Event also arrives with new Pacts for players to pledge their Hunters to – the Primal Pact, Smuggler Pact, and Grounded Pact. Each pact has in-depth lore about their origins and aims to be discovered, as well as new Legendary Weapons and Equipment associated with the three factions available to unlock.

“We designed Rotjaw as a new objective for Hunters, adapting several mechanics and gameplay flows from our established Boss Targets,” said David Fifield, General Manager for Hunt: Showdown. “Her design gives players a whole new range of risk versus reward choices when launching into a Bounty Hunt. Should you go after her right away or ignore her until you’ve banished the other Target and gained Dark Sight?  What trait, weapons and gear will set you up best to track and defeat her? Once she is banished how best can you secure the Bounty Token and extract from the map with it? We are incredibly excited to unleash Rotjaw and eager for her to leave her mark on the Hunt world.”

To unlock rewards during the Live Event, players must earn Event Points, awarded for completing a range of in-game challenges and by interacting with or destroying new Ship Altars scattered around the Bayou. To help rack up Event Points, Hunters can take advantage of new single-use “Burn Traits,” which are only available for the duration of the event, offering players new ways to play. Event Points can be exchanged for a wide range of rewards throughout the Live Event. “Tide of Shadows” also brings a new Battle Pass with both free and premium pathways.

“Tide of Shadows” and Rotjaw are available now on PC and will arrive on consoles at a later date.

Hunt: Showdown is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Players can find out more about the game by visiting www.huntshowdown.com.

About Hunt: Showdown

Hunt: Showdown is a competitive first-person bounty hunting game that packs the thrill of survival games into a match-based format. Set in Louisiana in 1895, the game boasts a mixture of PvP and PvE elements that creates a uniquely tense experience. It’s not just the creatures who are a threat—it’s every Hunter on the map. In the classic game mode, a match of Hunt pits 12 players—playing solo or in teams of two or three —against each other as they race to take out gruesome beasts for a bounty they must collect and get off of the map. Hunt‘s quick play mode offers a shorter match for solo players to scavenge for weapons as they compete for a diminishing pool of bounty. The higher the risk, the higher the reward–but a single mistake could cost everything.

Make Way builds its own road to PC and consoles in 2023

Cross-platform multiplayer “DIY racer” lets players piece together ever-growing tracks, then scramble to knock each other off

Dundee, Scotland – 28 June 2023: Keep your friends close, and your roof-mounted Tesla coil closer. Developer Ice Beam and publisher Secret Mode have started laying down the track for multiplayer racing game Make Way to launch on PC, PlayStation®4 (PS4™), PlayStation®5 (PS5™), Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch™ in 2023.

Make Way sees up to four players battling it out in weapon-filled, round-based races. But there are no pre-built courses. Instead, players must construct the track together, using a random selection of pieces and hazards (train crossings! loop-de-loops! seesaws!) to invent a unique raceway that gets bigger and wilder every round.

Make Way‘s chaotic racing action can be enjoyed alone or with friends in local or online multiplayer, with cross-play across all platforms. With new track pieces and hazards steadily unlocked over time, and customisable rulesets making matches slightly easier or infinitely more chaotic, no two races will ever be the same.

Make Way is the work of Ice Beam, an indie developer based in Dundee, Scotland. Ice Beam is headed up by Tom Goodchild, a 20-year veteran of the games industry with a plethora of experience in racing games, from being lead designer on Toybox Turbos to credits on the Micro Machines series, GRID Legends, and more.

About Make Way

  • Mix and match unique track pieces and hazards for near-endless course configurations
  • Fight for weapons and power-ups to gain the advantage
  • Unlock new track pieces and vehicles for wackier races
  • Up to four players, on the same screen or online with cross-platform multiplayer
  • Remove hazards from your races or go full chaos mode and eliminate all safety barriers using fully customisable rulesets

Make Way will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch in 2023.

Woods with Friends: Old School RuneScape’s Woodcutting Skill Becomes More Social with the Forestry Expansion

Chop, chop! This new content, part one of a two-part expansion, launches today!

CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom June 28, 2023 Launching today in Old School RuneScape, Forestry is a new skill expansion that builds upon the Woodcutting skill, bringing a more social and dynamic experience to one of the RuneScape series’ most iconic activities. If you go into the woods today, you’re in for a big surprise!

Today’s Forestry launch is the first part of this two-part expansion. Players will sport their best plaid shirts as they explore with friends to earn additional skill XP. While two players or more are chopping the same tree, they will receive an XP bonus to Woodcutting for each person at the tree. Many hands make light work!

Additional changes have also been made to the Woodcutting skill, including the despawning timers of trees. Trees will now despawn on a timer that activates after the first cut and regenerates if players stop cutting the tree before it’s fully chopped. For novice Arborists, this means that players will no longer be competing for the same resources.

Forestry also introduces spontaneous events that can occur when trees are felled with a Forestry Kit. Any nearby woodcutters may participate in these events, with players encountering Remote Banking Leprechauns, Rising Roots, Struggling Saplings and Flowering Trees.

Now breaking a sweat is a reward in and of itself, but this first part of Forestry will reward players with what they actually want: brand-new items and craftables. These include the Lumberjack outfit and a log basket to save players ‘two trips.’

The second part of Forestry will launch in August, introducing new leaves, tea-brewing, and bonfires.

This year, the Old School RuneScape team began the process of adding a new skill for the first time in the game’s 10-year history. Passing the pitching stage, the new skill, Sailing, will now enter refinement before it is put before the community for the lock-in vote. Learn more about community polling and the skill development schedule over on the Old School RuneScape website.
