Today, 2K introduced new gameplay enhancements coming to NBA 2K24. Spanning intuitive offense, skill-based defense, coaching, Takeovers and more, new gameplay innovations focus on delivering an elevated basketball experience for all.
“Our commitment to evolving the NBA 2K experience based on community feedback is a big reason why dedicated players and basketball fans have continued to play the game for the past 25 years,” said Mike Wang, Gameplay Director at Visual Concepts. “We’ve delivered NBA 2K24 gameplay enhancements that are more skill-based and intuitive, accelerating the gameplay experience for the entire community.”
Gameplay innovations featured in NBA 2K24 include:
Intuitive offense: Shooting and dribbling are more accessible and intuitive than ever before, enabling players of all skill levels to flourish on the court. The moves have been customised and improved to serve any difficulty, and the ability to initiate electrifying dribbling sequences will help players create more space for high percentage shots.
Skill-based defense: Counter moves are big in NBA 2K24. Perimeter and paint defense are both more effective and reward players for anticipating and making good reads.
Adrenaline Boosts: Redesigned to make both offense and defense more engaging. Elite ball handlers will find more freedom to create while effective defenders can impact shooting abilities by locking ball handlers down.
Coach with ease: 2K Smart Play is back on New Gen to help players streamline their offense, defense, and coaching to make it easy to call plays. Choose up to 16 preferred actions ranging from full plays to isolations and give-and-gos.
Takeovers: Takeover returns for New Gen consoles in NBA 2K24 but with a new twist. Fill up the Takeover meter and then choose to activate either your Finishing, Shooting, Playmaking, Physicals, Defense and Rebounding abilities.
For full details check out the Courtside Report. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements in the coming weeks to reveal even more of what’s new in the next version of the world’s best-selling NBA basketball simulation video game.
NBA 2K24 is currently scheduled for release on September 8 for PlayStation® 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC platforms. For more information, please visit the NBA 2K24 official website.

At Xbox, we are invested in improving the player experience and ensuring our platform is safe, inclusive and welcoming for all players. One of the most common questions we get from players is how repeated enforcements impact gameplay and how they escalate. To help address this, we announced an enforcement strike system via Xbox Wire today. The system attaches strikes to every enforcement, ranging in severity based on the inappropriate activity.
As always, when a player believes they have witnessed a violation of Xbox’s Community Standards, we encourage them to report it. The Xbox Safety team reviews all reports to determine whether or not a violation occurred. If they determine it has, the player receives an enforcement. With the new system, enforcements will include strikes based on the severity of their actions. For example, a player that has received two strikes will be suspended from the platform for one day, whereas a player that receives four strikes will be suspended for seven days. Players have a total of eight strikes and, once reached, will be suspended from Xbox’s social features like messaging, parties and party chat, multiplayer and others for one year from the enforcement date.
Each player will have a view of their enforcement history including strikes and the overall impact these have on their player record. This revised system gives players a better understanding of enforcement severity and the cumulative effect of multiple enforcements. We’ll share data and updates in our bi-annual Transparency Report.
Please visit the Xbox Wire blog for more information and for additional info, an FAQ page will go live later today.
Former tinyBuild and Adult Swim Games vets shake up a classic genre in Steam Early Access
GLOBAL – 16 August 2023 – Dive into an immersive world of automation and strategy as Desynced, the brainchild of Forklift Interactive and Stage Games, premieres on Windows PC through Steam Early Access today.
Your ship is stranded in orbit around an unknown world. Tasked with gathering resources from below, players can customize drones and buildings to create a modular, flexible base to mine, process raw materials, manufacture technology, and repair their damaged spacecraft.
In Desynced, actions like mining, scanning for resources, or generating solar power are performed by modules. Any module that can be installed in a drone can also be installed in a building. Construct mobile miners or build stationary mining platforms. Create a wind farm high on a plateau, or equip a drone to distribute power to any drone or building around it. In Desynced, every problem has more than one solution.
Whether you’re a solo adventurer or prefer co-op gameplay, Desynced challenges you to construct, fortify, and defend a dynamic base. Drones complete many tasks automatically, but optional behavior programming allows players to create custom solutions and maximize efficiency. Create with friends, or play as opposing factions until only one player remains.
As they expand, players will discover ruins and explorables, extracting resources and uncovering the history of their new home. With an expansive tech tree, players can venture into new areas, known as “the blight”, making groundbreaking scientific discoveries and enhancing their base capabilities.
Andrei Podoprigora, CEO of Forklift Interactive, shared, “Desynced is an incredibly open-ended game with complex building and automation options, as well as optional behavior programming and survival challenges. We can’t wait to see what the community comes up with.”
Grab Desynced on Steam Early Access today for $29.99. To dive deeper, check out the official website, engage with our vibrant community on Twitter and Discord, and follow #DesyncedGame across social platforms.
