All aboard the Orient Express in Microids’ modern reinterpretation of the famous novel

Sydney, Australia, August 23^rd, 2023 – Ahead of Gamescom, publisher Microids has revealed the first trailer for Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express which is releasing 19 October 2023 for PC,  PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The trailer showcases the game’s stunning art direction in this modernised version of Agatha Christie’s most iconic detective story.

Set in 2023, with new twists and turns added to the original story, the game will bring Agatha Christie’s literary classic to life in a way that will surprise even long-time fans. Players will play as both the famous Hercule Poirot and his new sidekick, Joanna Locke as they set out to discover the truth behind the murder aboard the Orient Express.

Murder on the Orient Express has been developed by Microids Studio Lyon, with character design by Cédric Peyravernay, a French artist who has previously showcased his talent and expertise as a character designer in major projects such as Diablo IV, Prey, Dishonored 2, Dishonored, and the Netflix series Love, Death + Robots.

On board the Orient Express, legendary detective Hercule Poirot solves the murder that has taken place on the prestigious train, surrounded by a cast of intriguing characters with their own secrets and motives. Solving the mystery won’t be easy and through numerous twists and turns, players will have to use their little grey cells and detective skills to unravel the truth and bring it to light.

Game features:

• Faithful, but fresh: The game is a faithful but fresh adaptation of the original story, with a new character named Joanna Locke added to the story. Playing as Joanna, players can exit the confines of the train during playable flashbacks.

Employees will have access to all sorts of equipment to handle such insidious episodes. During the break time that follows an experiment, players are encouraged to get together, figure out what happened and why, and to deduce the identity of possible infiltrators! Additionally, in the midst of any mishaps, please utilize the laboratory’s well-stocked items, such as:

• Barfbag: prevents someone getting sick and creating a spill. But now you have a full bag of barf that can be thrown at others, or may be used to infect objects and make unsuspecting crew members really sick!
• Mop and Bucket: really good at cleaning up a lot of spills quickly and keeping them clean for longer. It does however, leave a large slick patch which could be used to make other crew members slip and fall.
• Medi Syringe: super helpful to instantly heal a sick crewmate. When used it becomes an empty syringe, perfect to suck up toxic sludge and inject someone with it!
