Chaos Continues in Apogee’s Magical FPS “Wizordum” Episode Two, Coming to PC this Summer

DALLAS – April 22nd, 2024 – Wizordum, the retro first-person spellcaster developed by Emberheart Games and published by Apogee Entertainment, wages war against wickedness with the upcoming release of Episode Two on PC via Steam and GOG this Summer. Tune into the OTK Expo, Tuesday, June 4, 2024 for a special Wizordum announcement during the showcase. In the meantime, get a sneak peek at Episode 2’s spell-slinging arsenal here.

After cleansing corruption from the town of Grimbrook, the hunt for the source of Chaos leads one of the last mages of Wizordum on a journey to all-new locales. Episode Two enhances the spell-slinging with a new weapon, added alternate attacks, and a refined magic system where defeating enemies replenishes spellcasting abilities.

Harness the godlike power of the new Storm Gauntlets, which can shatter enemies in an instant with powerful lighting bolts. Unleash new secondary attacks for existing weapons: incinerate multiple monsters at close range with the Fire Ring’s added flame-breathing ability, or fire off a manually-timed explosion with the Spellstriker’s Arcane Rock.

Blast, bash, and burn a path through both existing and brand-new biomes in the newly-added Campaign Mode featuring spider-filled magical forests, swamp ruins teeming with bog beasts, and mercenary-filled warships. Brave the ill-fated Mountain Fortress filled with deadly traps, where one wrong step can trigger a slew of bone-crushing boulders, moving walls, and flaming projectiles.

Search for coin-filled coffers throughout every puzzle-filled quest, and exchange valuable loot for spell upgrades, alternate attacks, and much more by visiting the newly-added sorcerer’s shop after each level.

Race against the clock in speedrun-friendly levels with multiple difficulty options, or build new experiences to share with fellow wizards across the globe with an in-game level editor available on both Steam and GOG. Wage enchanted warfare to a hi-fi orchestral composition called “Symphonic Suite from Wizordum”, available on Apogee’s YouTube channel as well as all music streaming platforms.

“The Wizordum community has provided so much helpful feedback so far, and we’re proud to have brought many community-requested features to reality,” said Primož Vovk, developer at Emberheart Games. “We have even more content planned for 1.0, and cannot wait to share more in the near future.”

Wizordum is available on Steam for $14.99. For more information on the enchanted world of Wizordum, check out their Twitter and Discord. For more on Apogee Entertainment, please visit the Apogee website and follow @Apogee_Ent on Twitter.

Two Studios Team Up to Develop Child’s First, Earth Day-Worthy Switch Game

Created with younger players in mind, endearing Mouse & Crane offers critical thinking activities & meaningful fun that highlights environmental consciousness

MONTREAL and COPENHAGEN, Denmark, April 22, 2024—Two women-owned and operated game development studios announced today that they’ve teamed up and are developing an Earth Day-worthy Switch title for young audiences. Denmark’s Those Eyes and Canadian studio Tobo are developing Mouse & Crane for Switch, a single-player and cooperative play puzzle-based adventure. It will be a younger child’s perfect first game, offering teachable moments through upcycling, recycling, and construction.

Mouse & Crane is a charming indie IP that focuses on the adventures of three best friends and encourages players to solve puzzles and challenges imaginatively. Children will be able to build new things with everyday tools such as a screwdriver or a glue gun-–inspiring kids and their parents to undertake Do-It-Yourself (DIY) activities together. The art design will be a unique hand-drawn collage style reminiscent of cozy picture books.

“Video games are a staple in most households. Parents and older siblings are playing some type of game. We want to provide an adventure that is appropriate for the younger, newer player,” said Trine Laier, owner, game director, and producer at Those Eyes. “The Switch platform made sense as it’s easy to use with their smaller fingers, lightweight, and offers a large library of family-friendly games. Moms and dads can hand their Switch to their child, or play with them, and feel good about it.”

Judith Beauregard, co-CEO and producer at Tobo adds, “When we started creating this game, we knew it had to be accessible for a younger child. The game is being created with a focus on a young child’s skill level. The levels are designed to encourage cooperation and help boost their problem-solving confidence. Mouse & Crane for Switch won’t require young players to know how to read, and important information is either spoken or displayed as universally understandable icons.”

Mouse & Crane for Switch will inspire children to solve problems peacefully through creativity and collaboration. In cooperative play, the child and parent (or an older sibling) will work together to solve puzzles that can’t be completed alone, sharing digital moments. Additionally, there is flexibility for parents to adapt their involvement according to their child’s needs, what Laier and Beauregard refer to as ‘parent-friendly’ gameplay.  Mouse & Crane for Switch is scheduled to be released in June 2024. The game will be GDPR-K and COPPA compliant. To learn about Mouse & Crane for Switch or the overall brand, please visit www.mouseandcrane.com.
