SYDNEY (Sept. 15, 2023) – Today during the Nintendo Direct show, SQUARE ENIX® revealed SaGa Emerald Beyond, an all-new original adventure in the acclaimed RPG franchise. Featuring music from iconic series composer Kenji Ito and artwork from acclaimed illustrator Satoshi Kuramochi, SaGa Emerald Beyond brings together the core combat and free-form scenario elements of the beloved RPG franchise to deliver the ultimate SaGa experience to fans and newcomers alike. SaGa Emerald Beyond will arrive digitally in 2024 for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®5 (PS5®) consoles, PlayStation®4 (PS4®) consoles, PC (STEAM®) and iOS and Android devices.

The new trailer showcases SaGa Emerald Beyond’s eclectic cast of heroes from vastly different worlds, with five distinct and dramatic stories to experience. Players will select any of the six protagonists to begin their story with, and guided by mysterious emerald waves, will explore 17 strikingly beautiful worlds where you can meet a diverse cast of races, including monsters, mechs, and vampires, forging their own story. SaGa Emerald Beyond expands on the free-form scenario system the SaGa franchise is renowned for, offering the player the greatest amount of freedom to shape their own story to date, with each tale branching outwards based on their choices and actions. The trailer also showcases the game’s strategic turn-based combat system in motion, offering the best iteration of the SaGa franchise’s combat.

Alongside the trailer, SQUARE ENIX also unveiled a debut key art featuring all six protagonists. 

Players can choose to begin their story as one of the following protagonists. Each possesses the rare ability to see emerald waves that present choices of their destinies:

• Tsunanori Mido – A man who can manipulate kugutsu, or animated puppets, which protect the barrier around his home, Miyako City. When the city is plagued by all kinds of supernatural phenomena, Tsunanori embarks on a journey to other worlds to find four elemental spirits in order to restore order to the spiritual realm.

• Ameya – A witch-in-training who visits Miyako City and lives in secret as a schoolgirl as a part of her graduation exam. After Ameya is attacked by an unknown man, she loses practically all of her magical power and must find a way to regain what was lost and pass her final exam.

• Siugnas – An immortal vampire who rules over Yomi, a world shrouded in darkness, as the Dismal King. However, after being betrayed and driven from his throne, Siugnas finds himself in Brighthome—the gathering place of dead warriors—and must set out on a journey to recover his powers alongside the other warriors in his squadron.

• Diva No.5 – A songstress mech designed to sing and dance from the world of Avalon. After singing a forbidden song, however, Diva’s memory and singing functionality are sealed away, causing her to lose her livelihood and music itself. In her despair, Diva discards her “human” body and, going with the flow, accepts an invitation from a secret society, leaving Avalon behind.

• Bonnie and Formina – Two new recruits and partners on the Capitol City police force who are investigating an assassination attempt on the President. With a key person of interest’s claim that the president is a traitor and a mysterious triangle piece as their only clues, they set off on a journey through other worlds to uncover the hidden truth behind the incident.

SaGa Emerald Beyond will be the latest release from the ongoing SaGa Project from SQUARE ENIX that has so far included Western releases of Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered, Romancing SaGa 3, SaGa SCARLET GRACE: AMBITIONS, hit mobile game Romancing SaGa™ Re;univerSe™, and SaGa Frontier Remastered. New Entry in Legendary RPG Remake Features Rich Storyline, More Playable Characters, Expanded Combat System and an Expansive World Designed for Exploration

SYDNEY (Sept. 15, 2023) – Today, during the PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast, SQUARE ENIX^® debuted a brand-new trailer for its upcoming action-RPG, FINAL FANTASY^™ VII REBIRTH, and revealed thatthe highly anticipated new story in the critically acclaimed FINAL FANTASY VII remake project will debut on February 29^th, 2024 for the PlayStation^®5 (PS5^™) console. The company also announced that the first entry in the FINAL FANTASY VII remake project, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, has surpassed 7 million shipments and digital sales worldwide.

The action-packed trailer features iconic characters Cloud, Aerith, Barret and Tifa in a sci-fi and fantasy-inspired world teeming with danger at every turn. The unlikely heroes join forces with new playable companions, including Yuffie, a member of Wutai’s elite corps of ninja operatives, Red XIII, a beast with a flaming tail who offers words of wisdom to Cloud’s party from time to time, and Cait Sith, a wisecracking, feline-shaped robot often seen poised atop his big moogle pal, to hunt down Sephiroth, the one-winged angel bent on ruling the planet.

Players will take these characters into battle and use powerful synergy abilities to strengthen their bonds further while tackling dangerous fiends. Alongside the release date, SQUARE ENIX unveiled the key art for the game. Created by Creative Director, Tetsuya Nomura, the new artwork represents the three worlds that form the axis of the story in FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH. Sephiroth is in the center, as he represents the instigator of the events of the past. Cloud and Zack are on the side as they represent their destinies being torn apart by Sephiroth. The image of blood, fire, and red that evokes Sephiroth, stains the sky and spreads over the world. The subtle red shade in the logo of this work is also inspired by the same imagery.

Today’s State of Play episode provided players with a long list of exciting title announcements and updates, most notably a new gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, featuring iconic landmarks across Queens and Brooklyn – complete with story missions, side quests, and city activities. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 appeared, with a fresh new showcase guided by creative director Bryan Intihar. The new trailer provides players with a deep dive into the expanded Marvel’s New York, including the ways Insomniac evolved the game since its 2018 predecessor – see the full trailer below.

New locations, updated exploration, exhilarating traversal, near-instant switching between Peter and Miles, a rogue’s gallery of villains, new abilities and gadgets, and an even bigger range of Suit Styles are just some of the ways the second instalment is bigger and better. 

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches October 20, 2023, exclusively on PlayStation 5! Pre-order a copy on PlayStation Store to receive early unlocks to two new suits, the Web Grabber gadget, and 3 Skill Points.

The Deep Earth Collection

Players got the first glimpse of the new Deep Earth Collection joining the PS5 family of accessories. The collection introduces three new colours for the DualSense wireless controller and PS5 console covers, all with a smooth metallic finish: molten Volcanic Red, alluring Cobalt Blue, and sleek Sterling Silver – see the full trailer below:

The Deep Earth DualSense controllers will be available for a recommended retail price (RRP) of $119.95 AUD / $129.95 NZD, while the Deep Earth PS5 console covers will be available for a recommended retail price (RRP) of $94.95 AUD / $109.95 NZD.

Helldivers 2 

Players got the news that Helldivers 2 launches on PS5 and Steam on February 8, 2024, with a new trailer showcasing the new co-op action gameplay. It won’t be long before you and three recruits can team up for online cooperative multiplayer with large-scale destructive power through stratagems, explore unique planets and complete objectives together, and upgrade your equipment through the deep progression system of Helldivers 2.  See the full trailer for Helldivers 2 below:

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Today’s State of Play included a brand-new look at Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (FFVII). The trailer surely will delight both long-term FFVII fans as well as players eager to know what happens after the conclusion of Final Fantasy VII Remake, as Cloud and company embark on a journey that takes them to the world outside Midgar. In the trailer we caught glimpses of new party members, sprawling open areas to explore and the reimagining of some iconic moments from the original game – including the appearance of beloved gothic hero, Vincent Valentine.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is coming to PlayStation 5 on December 7 2023, offering fans the chance to play as a Na’vi and fight against the Resources Development Administration (RDA) to protect the beautiful moon of Pandora – see the full trailer below:

PlayStation players will receive the Aranahe Warrior Pack for free, which grants them character and weapon cosmetic sets. In the new trailer focusing on the game’s story, you can learn more about the hero’s journey as a child of two worlds who seeks to reconnect with their lost heritage.

Players can pre-order the game at PlayStation Store, which has multiple editions including The Collector’s Edition, The Gold Edition, and The Ultimate Edition, all with their unique bonuses and inclusions. 

Resident Evil 4

Players were treated to the latest gameplay trailer for Resident Evil 4 VR Mode, a free update for The Mercenaries mode for everyone who owns Resident Evil 4, as well as the long-awaited additional story DLC, Separate Ways, starring Ada Wong – see the full trailer below:

The additional story DLC, Separate Ways and the free update for The Mercenaries mode, will be available on September 21, 2023, and the free DLC for PlayStation VR2, Resident Evil 4 VR Mode, is coming this summer. 

Resident Evil 4 is currently discounted on PlayStation Store until September 26. Now is the perfect opportunity to play through Leon’s story and explore The Mercenaries mode ahead of the release of Separate Ways.

About the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Anime

The animated adaptation of Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga series from Shueisha Jump Comics has now sold over 150 million copies of volumes 1~23 in total. The show, which originally began broadcast in April 2019, follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a boy whose family was slaughtered by a demon while his own sister, Nezuko, was turned into one herself. Tanjiro Kamado joined the Demon Slayer Corps to find a way to turn his sister back into a human.
