Neon Giant is targeting improvements across co-op, saves, progression and more while outlining ambitions for The Ascent across new platforms, genres and sequels
EL SEGUNDO, CALIF. – JULY 30, 2026 – KRAFTON, Inc. and Neon Giant recently announced a major update for The Ascent, coming to PlayStation, Xbox and PC in November 2026. The announcement comes as the game surpasses 12 million players and Neon Giant looks ahead to the franchise’s future, with ambitions to expand The Ascent across new platforms, genres, and future sequels.
The upcoming update is designed to make the experience smoother and more dependable for both solo and co-op players. While final details will be shared closer to release, there are plans to improve co-op teleportation, the encounter system, save-game reliability and data safeguards, player-progression reliability and safeguards, HDR support, and key localization improvements across all supported languages.
For Neon Giant, the November update and its longer-term franchise ambitions reflect the same commitment: continuing to improve the experience players have today while giving the world of Veles room to grow. More details on how The Ascent will expand will be shared as those plans take shape.
“We are incredibly proud of what we built with The Ascent and grateful to the millions of players who have made the journey to Veles,” said Arcade Berg, Co-Founder of Neon Giant. “We have also listened closely to feedback about where the experience can be stronger. With KRAFTON’s support, this update marks a new chapter for the game and for our ambitions for The Ascent as a franchise.
Since assuming direct publishing responsibilities for The Ascent in March 2026, KRAFTON has been supporting Neon Giant’s work on the November update and the franchise’s longer-term direction. Originally created by a team of 12 developers, The Ascent launched on PC and Xbox in July 2021 and became the most-played PC game on Xbox Game Pass. The game also earned nominations at the D.I.C.E. Awards and Golden Joystick Awards before arriving on PlayStation in March 2022. Its world expanded further with the release of the Cyber Heist DLC in August 2022.
The Ascent tells the story of a corporate-owned indentured worker uncovering the hidden truth behind the sudden collapse of the mega corporation known as ‘The Ascent Group’, which has thrown the city into chaos. Players explore a vast cityscape, taking on story-driven missions from a colorful cast of characters, fighting enemies, collecting loot, and customizing their builds. The entire experience can be enjoyed solo or in co-op with up to four players.
To mark the fifth anniversary, Neon Giant has also released a visual retrospective celebrating The Ascent’s journey so far, which can be found on The Ascent’s official website, social channels, Steam page, and official Discord server.
Neon Giant is a Sweden-based KRAFTON studio of around 20 veteran developers. The studio created the cyberpunk action-shooter RPG The Ascent and is currently developing NO LAW.
