Crux Games – a two person team composed of Skye Scott & Sam Alfred, designer of Terra Nil – have just dropped a massive update to the free demo for their citybuilder x deckbuilder Combolands ahead of Steam Next Fest.
Based on 100k+ views Itch.io hit Tiny Towns, Combolands has already been spotlighted by Blitz and Retromation. The new demo includes tons of new features based on player feedback, including procedurally generated islands, an overhauled progression system, improved UI, and even a snazzy new look.
You can check out the updated Steam demo right now and trailer below.
About the game:
Combolands is a synergetically satisfying deckbuilder where cards are buildings and the map is your deck! Create outrageous combos, break the game, and experience a unique roguelike where the terrain changes every run.
About the Game
Combolands is a deckbuilder where instead of a deck, you’re growing a town! Construct buildings on a procedurally generated island, unlocking powerful synergies and triggering cascading combos. With 21 possible guild combinations, Combolands offers huge strategic depth with a ‘number-go-up’ rush.
Unlock new guilds as you play, each with unique identities, strengths and drawbacks. Every run will see you picking 2 different guilds to play with. You’ll start with a brand-new, procedural map, and grow a tiny hamlet into a thriving city.
Break the game, refine your strategy, and build a city for the ages!
New features:
- Complete progression overhaul: Mechanics, guilds, buildings, and heirlooms are unlocked slowly, not all at once.
- Semi-procedural islands: A fresh challenge on each stage of your run!
- A whole new unlock system, complete with snazzy new visuals
- The city council can now give you quests
- Drastically improved performance, UX, and many bugfixes
