Routines, rituals, and relationships may define us, but T.W.I.R.L. asks: what’s your deepest, darkest secret? Stay silent as a nine-year-old boy creeping out of his bedroom at 3:00 a.m. while everyone’s asleep. Feel the weight of every step forward while being followed by a demon…? Person? Something else?
Tiptoe through the haunted nostalgia of 2006, where a presence beyond evil draws us through P.T.-inspired loops, changing us and the environment, to unveil the life story of a boy who grows up hiding a deep, dark, and potentially sinister secret.
In the new Steam demo, roam through a 30-minute-long experience introducing a family, their house, and the unspoken enigma hiding within a story-rich narrative. Witness an intimate group of characters whose personalities are brought to life by a talented team of first-time video game voice actors, including 14-year-old Alexander Roff as “The Boy,” Jerry Schultz as “The Priest,” Colleen Arnold as “The Mother,” and others.
“Of many things, T.W.I.R.L. is a challenge to look fear in the eye, and see it for what it is: nothing,” said Ben Escobar, founder of Genie Boy Games. “Through our story about childhood secrets, the loss of innocence, and growing up in 2006, we hope that our game inspires you to embrace a rediscovery of self, and an acceptance of your lifelong fears.”
Check out the new demo for T.W.I.R.L. today, and wishlist the game Steam! Sneak through dark and daunting household hallways when the full game launches on Windows PC, Mac, and Linux later this year, followed by PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

About Genie Boy Games
Genie Boy Games is an independent game development studio helmed by film producer, writer, and director Ben Escobar, where the fusion of film and interactivity flourishes. Video games were the medium in which the team learned to convey meaningful stories. Ben pairs his penchant for meaningful filmmaking with interactive storytelling techniques revolving around minimalism, experimental horror, and abstract themes to provide a frightful narrative in the studio’s debut game T.W.I.R.L. (spawned from the David Lynch: Catch Ideas Like Fish” Game Jam by the Haunted PS1 Community), currently in development.
