The narrative survival RPG drawn from real events invites players to try the new demo during Steam Next Fest, June 15-22. New trailer available to watch now.
[June 10th, 2026]: Kyiv-based developer Twigames and publisher Crunchy Leaf Games have announced that Hollow Home will be featured as part of Steam Next Fest from June 15th-22nd with a new playable free demo available on Steam.
Hollow Home is a narrative survival RPG set in a city under siege. Players take on the role of Maksym, a 14-year-old boy whose father is serving at the front and whose mother is away when the invasion begins. Alone in his city, Maksym must navigate a city under siege, form connections with the people who remain, and make impossible choices with limited time and fewer resources every day. There is no combat – only the weight of what you decide, and what you leave undone.
The game is built on a branching dialogue and questline system, a city map that changes as the invasion advances, with locations becoming locked or destroyed as the days pass, and a Resolve system that forces the player to choose who to help and what to sacrifice. Skills are learned through the people Maksym meets rather than menus and players must confront the fact that not everything can be done, nor everyone helped, in a single day.
Hollow Home is developed by Twigames, a studio based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and draws on real events from 2022. Steam Next Fest (June 15-22) gives players a free opportunity to experience Hollow Home ahead of its full release on Steam later in 2026. The new demo is available to download from Steam now.
Alongside Next Fest, Twigames and Crunchy Leaf Games will launch a Kickstarter campaign in July 2026 to fund the full release of Hollow Home. The campaign will give supporters the chance to back the game directly and access exclusive backer rewards. Players and press can follow the project ahead of launch via the Hollow Home Kickstarter Campaign page.
Key features of Hollow Home include:
- A Narrative Survival RPG With No Combat. There are no weapons and no battles in Hollow Home. Survival means managing relationships, making difficult choices, and living with the consequences.
- A City That Changes Every Day. Three districts to explore with a map that shifts as the conflict shapes the city daily. Locations become locked or destroyed. People you met on Day 1 may not be there on Day 3.
- Deep Dialogue and Branching Questlines. Every character has a story. Every conversation is a choice. Build relationships with the people who remain in the city, learn survival skills through them, and face the outcomes of who you were and were not able to help.
- Limited Time, Real Consequences. The limited choice system gives Maksym a finite number of actions each day. You cannot be everywhere. Decide who matters most, knowing you cannot change it after.
- A Painterly Isometric World Drawn From Real Events. Hollow Home is developed by Twigames, a studio based in Kyiv, Ukraine. The game draws on specific real events from 2022 and is built by developers who lived through the conflict it depicts. The characters are fiction. The story is not.
- Awards and Recognition. Winner of Best Conference Game and Game Star at Games Gathering 2024. Winner of the Nordic Game 2024 Pitch Battle. Winner of Most Promising Game and Critics’ Choice Award at Indie Cup Ukraine 2023.
Hollow Home’s demo is available to play during Steam Next Fest, June 15-22, 2026. Players can wishlist and follow the game on Steam and the game’s official website.
