February 9, 2026 – Back to Black, Games Done Quick’s speedrunning event organized by the Black in a Flash community, concluded late last night and raised an incredible $53,242 for the nonprofit Race Forward.
Back to Black 2026, which ran online from Feb 5-8 via Games Done Quick’s Twitch and YouTube channels, focused on spotlighting Black speedrunners from around the world. The event came to a close with a final run of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
There were numerous other highlights, including:

- JRoc did a no-hands run of Hades 2 (using his feet!)
- Cassasaur cosplayed as Ken during The Barbie Diaries: High School Mystery run
- Chris1ne (C1) pioneered the category for Whisper Mountain Outbreak, marking the game’s first appearance at a GDQ event
- By the event’s end, 4 runners beat their personal best times
This year’s event raised funds for Race Forward, a nonprofit that works across communities most affected by systemic racism to build collective power for racial equity. Last year’s Back to Black event raised $44,000 for Race Forward.
