The long-rumoured Persona 4 Remake is back in the spotlight, this time sparked by a surprising remark from voice actor Yuri Lowenthal. While most gamers today recognize Lowenthal as the voice of Spider-Man in Sony’s action-adventure titles, Persona fans know him best as Yosuke Hanamura, one of the central characters in Persona 4. During a recent fan interaction, Lowenthal made an unexpected and now deleted – comment that has set the rumor mill ablaze:
“No, I won’t be returning as Yosuke in the Persona 4 Remake. I asked—maybe even begged—but they don’t want me back.”
The quote was quickly picked up by outlets before being taken down, igniting intense discussion within the community. While neither SEGA nor ATLUS have officially confirmed the existence of a remake, several clues are beginning to align. Earlier this year, Shihoko Hirata, the voice behind much of Persona 4’s iconic soundtrack, also made cryptic comments hinting at future involvement. Even more suspicious, a newly registered domain name suggests that something Persona 4-related may indeed be in the works.
Following the massive success of Persona 3 Reload in 2024, it would make sense for ATLUS to bring Persona 4 into the modern era with a full-scale remake. While Persona 4 Golden already provided an enhanced version of the original, fans would likely welcome a fresh take with updated visuals, new gameplay mechanics, and a reworked voice cast. Nothing is official yet, but when multiple insiders close to the franchise begin dropping hints, there’s often more than just smoke. With Summer Game Fest season just around the corner, we’ll be watching closely for any announcements.
