River City Girls 2 Double Dragon DLC Available Now on Consoles!

Billy and Jimmy Lee join the fight, along with new free content for all players

Valencia, Calif. – November 12th, 2024 – The Double Dragons are back on the street! Independent game studio WayForward, in collaboration with Arc System Works, is excited to announce that the River City Girls 2 Double Dragon DLC is now available to purchase in the Americas and Europe, adding new playable characters and more on Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S at the price of $7.99. (The DLC will arrive on PC via Steam in the near future.)

A new launch trailer can be seen below:

Adding to the already robust cast and deep beat-’em-up gameplay of River City Girls 2, the Double Dragon DLC brings legendary martial arts brothers Billy and Jimmy Lee out of the dojos and back into action on the mean streets of River City. Each Lee brother has a unique moveset that includes a bone-breaking arsenal of punches, kicks, throws, and special moves, including many inspired by the bros’ 35-plus-year career, such as the spinning cyclone kick, rising knee, hyper uppercut, diving jump kick, and more.

Both Lee brothers are also fully integrated into River City Girls 2’s story mode, with all-new cinematic portraits and dialogue from returning voice actors Dan Avidan (Billy) and Arin Hanson (Jimmy) of the Game Grumps. Furthermore, the DLC adds an epic new Double Dragon rap song performed by Hanson and Avidan (with music by series composer Megan McDuffee), along with new dojo master Boro (originally from Double Dragon II: The Revenge) who performs sensei duties while Billy and Jimmy are out kickin’ yakuza butt.

In addition to the new premium content, a free update to River City Girls 2 is available for all players, providing a new Double Dragon themed motion comic, a Double Dragon inspired training dojo, the ability for all players to use the same character during online play, multiple color palettes for each playable character, and two new shops with new items — the “Season’s Beatings” seasonal shop, which offers a new, exclusive accessory every two months, and the “Devil’s Candy” shop, a crossover with the popular web comic of the same name. Miho, the “Season’s Beatings” proprietor, is voiced by beloved online creator Jaiden Dittfach (JaidenAnimations).

These new inclusions are on top of River City Girls 2’s already expansive feature set, which includes six existing playable characters, a massive world with eight regions, four-player co-op, online gameplay, personality-packed bosses, RPG-like character growth, recruits that aid you in battle, dozens of items and accessories, spectacular pixel-art graphics, an anime-style intro, and a critically acclaimed soundtrack. As IGN proclaimed upon the game’s release in December 2022, “with deep combat and a great city like this, kicking Yakuza teeth out will never get old.” For more information on River City Girls 2 and the rest of the River City Girls series, please visit www.wayforward.com and follow @wayforward on Twitter and Facebook.
