Clock Tower: Rewind Slices Its Way to Consoles and PC

The terrifying 16-bit classic is now available in the West for the first time ever

Valencia, Calif – October 29, 2024 – Turn back the clock and experience a true pioneer of the survival-horror genre! Independent game studio WayForward, in conjunction with Sunsoft, Capcom, and Limited Run Games, is frighteningly excited to announce that Clock Tower: Rewind – an enhanced revival of the original 16-bit Clock Tower game – is now available digitally on Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Featuring the bone-chilling classic in its original form, along with numerous enhancements and extras, this haunting adventure is rated Teen by the ESRB and priced at $19.99. A blood-curdling new launch trailer can be seen at below:

Featuring the original graphics, sound, and play mechanics of its revered 1995 release, and powered by Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine, Clock Tower: Rewind marks the first time this landmark horror title has been officially translated and made available outside of Japan. As teenage orphan Jennifer, players will find themselves trapped in the Barrows family manor, where they’ll be pursued by Scissorman — a relentless, murderous, shears-wielding psychopath — as they explore the mansion, unravel its secrets, and attempt to escape with their lives.

Players can experience the adventure in both Original Mode, which is unchanged from the classic Super Famicom version, and Rewind Mode, which adds extra content, such as additional enemy encounters and new hiding spots, plus quality-of-life improvements. Both modes are playable in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, simplified Chinese, and Korean, as well as the original Japanese.

In addition to the game itself, Clock Tower: Rewind includes a crypt’s worth of bonus features, including a new animated intro with vocal theme song performed by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (Silent Hill series), ending vocal theme song performed by Emi Evans (NieR series), new music by composer Dale North, motion comics with voiceovers by Cat Protano, Jenny Yokobori, Suzi Hunter, and Gab Smolders, interview with creator Hifumi Kono, playable Japanese commercial demo, art gallery, border artwork, save states, rewind function, and a music player.

Since its origins in Japan nearly 30 years ago, Clock Tower has been frequently cited as one of the most influential games in the survival-horror genre, resulting in multiple sequels and spin-offs, and with the release of Clock Tower: Rewind, players worldwide will at last be able to discover its impact firsthand.
