Clock Tower: Rewind hits Oct. 29; River City Girls 2 DLC arrives this fall
Valencia, Calif. – September 17, 2024 – Get ready for frights and fights this fall! Independent game studio WayForward is pleased to announce that Clock Tower: Rewind, the revival of the 16-bit survival-horror classic, now has an official release date of October 29, 2024 in the Americas and Europe, when it launches digitally on Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC. In addition, WayForward has provided an updated release window for the highly anticipated River City Girls 2 Double Dragon DLC, which is now expected to arrive this fall.
“This fall is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling and action-packed periods in WayForward’s history,” proclaims WayForward Tyrannical Overlord Voldi Way. “Just in time for spooky season, Clock Tower: Rewind will allow horror fans to finally experience an acclaimed 16-bit classic, and the new DLC for River City Girls 2 will bring the legendary Double Dragons, Billy and Jimmy Lee, back into the spotlight! That’s on top of the recent release of Yars Rising from Atari and the October 18 launch of RetroRealms Halloween and Ash vs. Evil Dead from Boss Team Games.”
Clock Tower: Rewind is the resurrection of the 1995 Super Famicom game, Clock Tower, officially translated and released outside of Japan for the first time. Featuring the original graphics, sound, and gameplay of the classic release, the groundbreaking title challenges players to escape the terrifying Barrows family manor, where they’ll be pursued by the relentless, murderous, shears-wielding Scissorman.
The game also includes Rewind Mode, which adds extra content and quality-of-life improvements, along with numerous extra features including a new animated intro, vocal songs by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (Silent Hill series) and Emi Evans (Nier series), motion comics with voiceovers, an art gallery, save states, a rewind function, a music player, and other bonuses.
The Double Dragon DLC, meanwhile, adds even more hard-hitting, bone-breaking, knuckle-busting action to fan-favorite open-world beat-’em-up River City Girls 2. No longer relegated to their previous roles as dojo masters, the iconic Double Dragon brothers, Billy and Jimmy Lee, are ready to kick yakuza butt as premium playable characters with unique movesets and full story integration featuring all-new dialogue by returning voice actors Dan Avidan (Billy) and Arin Hanson (Jimmy) of the Game Grumps.
Additionally, the DLC adds a new Double Dragon rap song performed by Hanson and Avidan (with music by series composer Megan McDuffee) plus new dojo master Boro, while a new free update to all players delivers a new Double Dragon themed motion comic, two new shops with new items (including the “Season’s Beatings” seasonal shop), playable character color palettes, and more. The DLC and free update will be coming to all platforms for which River City Girls 2 is currently available, including Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC.
