Kitsune Tails Launches Steam Workshop Support for Queer Retro Platformer Today

Developer Kitsune Games and publisher MidBoss™ today announce that Kitsune Tails, the platformer styled after beloved classics and steeped in Japanese mythology, expands with Steam Workshop support, the official soundtrack, and new quality-of-life features available now on Steam.

Play custom levels and minigames as created by the community. Tackle ridiculous kaizo challenges from the community’s most devious level designers. Create and complete new minigames that stretch the limits of Kitsune Tails’ custom engine. Never made a mod before? Start now with the help of documentation, the open-source Tiled Map Editor, and easy-to-learn Lua scripting. Upload your mods to Steam from within the game with a tap of a button.

The Steam Workshop update comes with a number of quality-of-life features, including new Speedrun Timers and a much-requested post-game character swap option. Pick up the OST by composer Jorge Saldías on Steam now for $4.99, or in a new Deluxe Edition bundle for $22.49.

Kitsune Tails is currently available on Steam and itch.io for PC, Linux, and Steam Deck. The itch.io version does not support Steam Workshop, but supports manual installation of mods. About MidBoss™

Based out of San Francisco (although not the Neo kind), MidBoss aims to make the world better, safer and more inclusive for marginalized people, especially those across the gender and sexuality spectrum, by creating cool experiences through games and other forms of media which diversify representation, as well as becoming a platform for queer content around the world.

MidBoss expanded on the world it created in 2064: Read Only Memories with a Read Only Memories comic series in late 2019. The studio is also responsible for the creation and curation of Summer of Pride, an annual month-long celebration of diversity in games featuring titles with good LGBTQ+ representation and an array of queer and POC content creators.
