Cronela’s Mansion: A New Point And Click Adventure For Retro Consoles

[Menorca, Spain] May 15th, 2024: Get ready to return to the glory days of adventure gaming with Cronela’s Mansion, an upcoming spiritual successor to Lucasfilm’s legendary point-and-click adventure title Maniac Mansion, heading to the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, PC, and Nintendo Switch in 2025.

Developed by Spanish indie developer Straynus, Cronela’s Mansion is an epic journey over four years in the making, heavily inspired by the classic SCUMM engine titles of the late 80s and early 90s. It’s an open-world adventure game that puts players in the shoes of Tommy as he explores the sprawling estate, solves clever puzzles, and interacts with a colorful cast of characters through a branching dialogue system as he works to uncover the enigmatic mansion’s many mysteries.

Today’s debut trailer showcases the different versions of Cronela’s Mansion currently in development while offering a tantalizing glimpse at the various locales you’ll visit on your quest, some of the brain-teasing puzzles you’ll encounter, and more. More than mere 1:1 conversions, the various versions of the game are designed to take advantage of the different platforms’ strengths to create a unique and exciting experience, no matter which platform you’re playing on.

“For the past four years, I have been working at Cronela’s Mansion,” said developer Straynus. “Creating a point-and-click game for retro systems has been a challenging experience, both physically and mentally, as all versions are programmed and drawn from scratch. The NES version, in particular, has been very difficult to create. Now, I am looking for funding on Kickstarter to be able to produce all the physical material for the games. If you like my work and love retro graphic adventures, it would be amazing to have your support.”

A Kickstarter campaign for Cronela’s Mansion will launch later this summer. Backers will have the chance to secure a variety of exciting rewards, including a nostalgic big box version of the PC/MS-DOS game on DVD and floppy disk (limited to 500 copies worldwide).
