‘X8’ Launches Fourth Major Update with Free Download on Steam
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – April 19, 2024 – Thirdverse, Inc., a leading VR development studio and publisher, today announced the launch of the fourth major update to its acclaimed 5v5 VR multiplayer hero shooter, ‘X8’. Following the remarkable success of over 500,000 downloads since its global debut, this update introduces a suite of innovative features and gameplay enhancements, further solidifying X8’s stature as the ultimate VR Hero battle arena. Starting today, players will be able to download X8 from Steam for free.
Additionally, to celebrate the release of X8 for free download on Steam and the launch of the fourth major update, Thirdverse is hosting a “Double Bonus Bytes Weekend” event from April 19 at 12:00pm until April 21 at 11:59pm PDT, where players can earn extra Bytes for every match played and completed across all platforms. Players can earn 60 Bytes per Rush Respawn match completed, and 100 Bytes per Demolition match completed.
New Features in the Latest Major Update:
- Lock-in Rewards: a retention calendar system that compensates players for logging in daily, offering Badges for completing matchmade games. Badges can be exchanged for Skins, Credits, and Bytes, or collected for special rewards.
- Interactive Weapon Shop Review: Elevate your arsenal and preview weapons in a fully interactive 3D space, making weapon selection more immersive and informed.
- Match MVP: After each game, the most impactful player is highlighted, adding a new layer of recognition for exceptional gameplay.
- Tutorial: Sarai VO Lines: Dive deeper into the world of X8 with guided voiced tutorials featuring the character Sarai.
- Team Balancing: With enhanced matchmaking algorithms, this update promises fairer and more competitive matches, ensuring that every game is balanced and enjoyable for players of all skill levels.
- DLC Bundles: Access exclusive DLC bundles that offer new skins, characters, and more, enriching the gaming experience at the Meta and Steam Store fronts.
