New Vibrant Map, New Grotesque Ghost Type, New Cosmetics, and More.
WHAT: Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, a 4v1 hunt or haunt action-packed video game from the asymmetrical multiplayer experts at IllFonic, is set to release the game’s third DLC on August 1, 2023. This FREE DLC accompanies a previous base game purchase, which is rated E10+ and available on PC/Epic Games Store, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One for $19.99. You read that correctly, starting August 1, 2023, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed digital versions will drop to the scary good price of $19.99.
DLC #3 is loaded with exciting content. The new map will be beloved by live music fans and clubgoers alike. The map contains a delightful blend of open areas, minor verticality, and connecting hallways. Who knows what’s lurking behind each turn… could it be our new Ghost type – the Watcher, a grotesque and elusive little creature. Look closely and Ghostbusters fans might just recognize the “Bug-Eyed” ghosts that are well known from the franchise. Not to mention, there are cool new threads and some great quality of life updates. See below for the details.
DLC Highlights:
– New Map – The New Motion Club – The New Motion Club is a pillar of the New York underground music scene. From Baxter Hills to Trance Ratton, countless now well-known alternative acts have gotten their start here. After a change in ownership, the venue was expanded to include a two-thousand square foot street level dance hall with the original basement stage reimagined as a comedy club. More space led to bigger bands, with many considering the New Motion Club to be a necessary stop on an artist’s path to stardom. What new ownership didn’t account for though, was a recent spike in paranormal activity. Are these ghostly parasites drawn to the energy of such a vibrant place, or are they just fans of “the scene” like everyone else? Either way, it’s bad for business, but good for busting.
– New Ghost Type – Watcher – Our studies have unequivocally concluded that this ghost type is a particularly grotesque and elusive little creature. It’s safe to assume that before you ever notice a Watcher, it’s certainly already noticed you, courtesy of its giant external eye attached via a disgusting semi-corporeal tendon. A Watcher is known for sending its occult oculus hurtling toward intended scare targets and then either recoiling it back to its socket OR pulling its torso to the eye itself, phasing through anything that stands between them. So yes, it’s a quite hideous sight all around.
– New Buster Cosmetics – Including Ghostbusters (2016) film Cosmetics and Gear Shells!

In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Ray and Winston open the Firehouse to you and the next generation of Ghostbusters. This asymmetrical game of hide and seek, is a 4v1 setup where players will either play as part of a team of new Ghostbusters or a singular Ghost. This title not only allows players to enjoy the game solo or with up to four friends but will also have an online and offline single-player mode. Most importantly, the more you play, a story will unravel (with cutscenes.) Whether hunting or haunting, the game is easy to learn and fun to master!
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed has all the iconic gear and gadgets, from Proton Packs to PKE Meters and Ghost Traps, that fans would expect and new gamers to the universe will enjoy when playing as a Ghostbuster. In addition, many will recognize the Firehouse and Ray’s Occult Books that act as the game’s hub. This is where players choose missions, customize their characters, practice firing their particle throwers, and explore all there is to learn. And yes, you will hear the original film actors reprising their roles as Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore, along with some new friends!
Game Details –
- As a Ghostbuster – Be one of the four proton pack-wielding Ghostbusters and attempt to catch a Ghost haunting unique locations with your trusty ghost trap and tools. Use the P.K.E. Meter to sniff out rifts that act as the Ghost’s spawn points and destroy them with your Proton Pack’s particle thrower before the Ghost completes their haunt. As players progress, they will unlock cosmetics and upgrades for both Ghostbusters and Ghosts to evolve their gameplay experiences. The look and feel will give fans an immersive experience in the universe, allowing them to play out their Ghostbusting fantasies.
- As the Ghost – Ghosts have multiple abilities in their arsenal, like possessing objects, of course, sliming, and more, that make haunting all the various locations a blast to play. Choose from up to five Ghosts with unique skills, ultimate abilities, and commendable minions fueled by ectoplasm. Fly around public locations and possess an inordinate amount of inanimate objects to evade pursuing Ghostbusters. Frighten citizens until they flee in fear, prank unsuspecting Ghostbusters, and hide your rifts to spawn safely in case you get trapped.
- Locations – Explore multiple unique locations, including a museum, winter lodge, docked ship, multi-leveled prison, and an active brewery. Complete challenges, customize your Ghostbuster and Ghosts and locate hidden spores, mold, and fungus to gain access to more unlockables.
