Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing Captures the Magic on PlayStation VR, Steam VR, Oculus Rift Today
Physical Version Coming Soon from Limited Run Games
TOKYO – July 15, 2021 – Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing (LWAVR), the VR racing game from UNIVRS, Inc. based on the famous anime, conjures a new curriculum for students today on PlayStation VR, SteamVR, and will be available shortly on the Oculus Store for Oculus Rift, alongside the previously-released Oculus Quest 2 launch title. A physical version for PlayStation VR is now available for preorder from Limited Run Games.
Enroll as a young witch in an enchanted academy, learning the ins and outs of how to fly on a broom and purify ghosts across 12 levels. Race with classmates like beloved Little Witch Academia characters Akko, Lotte, and Sucy, all of whom are voiced by both their English and Japanese voice actors from the acclaimed series. Experience one of the smoothest VR experiences available thanks to UNIVRS’ patent-pending motion reduction technology.
Earn extra credit by tackling hard mode, available at launch for the new platform releases of LWAVR after debuting as post-launch content for the Oculus Quest version. Become the big witch on campus by customizing a broom with styles earned by performing well in races. Hang out with friends and explore Luna Nova Witchcraft Academy, with cross-platform multiplayer between all versions of the game, including the PlayStation version.
Witches looking to cast a forever spell can pre-order a physical edition of the PlayStation VR version of LWAVR starting Friday, July 16 via acclaimed, small-batch publisher Limited Run Games. Available for pre-order starting Friday, the game is expected to ship in August.
LWAVR takes place in the world created by Studio Trigger, one of Japan’s most well-known and critically-acclaimed anime studios. Fan support is the heart of the Little Witch Academia series, as supporters crowdfunded the second film with a successful Kickstarter of more than $625,000 that led to a Netflix series, with Campfire and Kickstarter campaigns for the game generating more than $165,000.
“Working to bring Studio Trigger’s series to life was an honor and all thanks to the support of Little Witch Academia fans”, said Naoya Koji, COO at UNIVRS. “Virtual reality works wonders to explore the world of an anime unlike any other video game genre, and we’re ready to open the doors for everyone playing on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and SteamVR.”
Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing is now available for $39.99 on the PlayStation Network for PlayStation VR on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility, and $29.99 on SteamVR for Oculus Rift, Valve Index, and HTC Vive, and the Oculus Store for Oculus Rift, featuring English and Japanese language text and voice acting.
