Renton Millar to host Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Ultimate Jam tournament

What: Australian Skateboarding pro and world cup champion Renton Millar has been named the official host of the Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ 1+2 Ultimate Jam.    

Brought to you by Australia’s leading esports team ORDER, action sports channel FUEL TV, digital channel 7plus, and leading digital entertainment provider Activision –  Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ 1+2 Ultimate Jam fuses skating and gaming audiences together in a competition that explores and rewards the casual, the hardcore, and the creative.

The participants play and record their favourite runs within set formats – Jam, Combo, Speedrun and Create-A-Park. Players are then pitted against each other to decide the winner, featuring a series of competitions utilising the unique gameplay that’s known and loved by THPS players.

Why: As a skating pro and World Cup Vert Points Champion, Renton will use his expert tips and larrikin personality to host the best, most creative and entertaining runs which will be broadcast across Fuel TV and 7plus. 

All entries into THPS Ultimate Jam will receive in-game rewards, and overall format winners will take home their very own Tony Hawk signed Birdhouse deck.

When: Renton will host the broadcast of the best submissions and finals from June 20. 

THPS Ultimate Jam will run until July 25, with submissions to enter closing at midnight on June 29. There will be weekly instalments, with the final two weeks of broadcast showcasing the grand finals, where the top entrants will take on new challenges to determine who will be the format champion and take home the top prize. 

About Renton Millar

Former international skateboarding pro and ‘King of Vert’ Renton Millar is known for organising skate comps around the country. Now, he’s hosting an event of a different kind – the Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ 1+2 Ultimate Jam.

Skaters and gamers alike can test out their gnarly moves in the Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ 1+2 Ultimate Jam with the chance to win a Tony Hawk Birdhouse deck and have their best runsand creations broadcast on Fuel TV and 7plus.

Renton, 45, rose to fame in 2001 when he was featured in Globe Shoes’ video Opinion, showcasing such innovative technical vert skateboarding tricks such as 360 flip crooked grind, nollie flip 5-0 and kickflip nosegrind shove it on a vert ramp.

Turning pro at the World Cup event “The Munster Monster Mastership” in 1998 in Munster, Germany, Renton competed at various comps around the world for the next 10 plus years. Most notably he won the “Oi” Jam in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as well as the Timtribu World Cup in Rome, as well as placed 6th at the World Championships of Skateboarding, in the first stop of the AST Dew tour in Boston.

In 2009, Renton also became the World Cup Vert Points Champion, taking World Cup Points from Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Rome, and Berlin.

Renton now focuses on organising skate comps around Australia through his company Shredability and is excited to host THPS Ultimate Jam to be broadcast through Fuel TV and 7plus.

The competition calls for participants to play and record their favourite runs within these set formats:

Put your skills to the test and come up with the best trick attack score on the park, Warehouse.

You’ll have 2 minutes to accumulate as many points as possible (no overtime).
In this challenge you’ll need to get your highest score possible with a single combo in a run on the park, School.

2 minute time limit on your combo. Overtime limited to 5 minutes.
In this format, you will need to submit your fastest speed run in the Warehouse.

Show off your design skills with this format. A panel of judges will determine the best parks based on skate-ability, aesthetics and innovation.
The top 4 of each week will go into playoffs.  The top 4 of each week will go into the playoffs.The top 16 submissions will qualify for the finals where each week a new map will be designated.Each week we’ll be showcasing the best parks.
