A Shantae Double Dose Arrives on Google Stadia

WayForward Makes Its Stadia Debut with Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut

Valencia, Calif. – 2/23/2021 – Independent game development studio WayForward is pleased to announce that its first two releases for the Google Stadia game-streaming platform — Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut — are now available for purchase. Priced at $29.99 and $9.99 respectively, these fan-favorite entries in the beloved Shantae series offer hours of hair-whipping, belly-dancing, shape-shifting action.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition lets players join Shantae on her first HD adventure as she travels Sequin Land to stop numerous criminal capers masterminded by some of her most dangerous foes. This all-inclusive version also features numerous additional modes that let players take control of the villainous Risky Boots in Pirate Queen’s Quest, switch between Shantae’s allies Sky, Bolo, and Rottytops in Friends to the End, utilize alternate costumes and abilities in Beach Mode, Ninja Mode, and Officer Mode, and more.

Shantae: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut, meanwhile, is an upgraded version of the second game in the Shantae series, which initially launched in 2010. As Shantae, the Half-Genie heroine, players must scour the countryside to find the three Magic Seals that can thwart her archenemy, the dastardly lady pirate Risky Boots. Shantae’s mission will take her to a variety of environments (including deserts, forests, and undersea caverns) where she’ll learn numerous abilities, encounter outlandish NPCs, and confront the sinister Barons of Sequin Land. Since its debut in 2002, the Shantae series has sold more than 3 million units worldwide, and has received a variety of accolades, including winning IGN’s Best DS Game in 2010 and being nominated for Best Platformer of 2014. The opening animation created by Studio TRIGGER for the latest game in the series, Shantae and the Seven Sirens, has been viewed more than 2.5 million times on YouTube.
