TEAM17: THE AWARD-WINNING, BRITISH-BASED GLOBAL INDEPENDENT VIDEO GAMES LABEL CELEBRATES LANDMARK 30-YEAR ANNIVERSARY

High-profile award wins, entry into the prestigious Golden Joysticks Hall of Fame, and games for the new generation of consoles cap a huge year for the independent video games label.

Monday, 7th December 2020 – Team17 is today celebrating its 30th anniversary, a major landmark for the British-based, multi-award-winning independent video games label and developer that comes just days after it launched its latest title, Worms Rumble. One of the oldest video games development companies, over its three decades Team17 has developed and/or published over 110 games, starting with Full Contact on the Amiga and going on to include the ubiquitous and multi-award-winning Worms and Overcooked! series.

Thoroughout the last 12 months, Team17’s position as one of the world’s most respected independent video games companies was cemented with a number of prestigioius awards. In March, Team17 was recognised as Publisher of the Year at the MCV/Develop Awards; this was followed by Publishing Star of the Year at the Develop:Star Awards, and its joint induction into Future Publishing’s Golden Joystick Hall of Fame alongside its beloved Worms series in November. Team17 CEO and co-founder, Debbie Bestwick MBE, has also been recognised this year, securing the Entrepreneur of the Year at the London Stock Exchange AIM Awards 2020: the first time any individual from the video games industry has won the award.

This year, Team17 has released 10 games across a variety of genres, including Moving Out (SMG Studio), Golf With Your Friends (Blacklight Interactive); Neon Abyss (Veewo Games), and The Survivalists (Team17). Its final release of the year, Monster Sanctuary from German developer moi rai, launches tomorrow (8th December). The company has also released two titles for the new generation of video games consoles, Overcooked! All You Can Eat (Ghost Town Games/Team17) on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, and Worms Rumble (Team17) on PlayStation 5, which is also available on PC and PlayStation 4.
