Riot Games join IGEA

Sydney, Australia: 29 October, 2019 – The Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA) has today announced that Riot Games has joined the association, just as its incredibly popular debut title, League of Legends has celebrated its 10th birthday.

Riot Games has successfully developed and published League of Legends which has gone on to be the most-played PC game in the world, as well as a key driver of esports both globally and locally.  With further games titles recently announced, Riot joins other globally successful publishing and development companies in supporting IGEA’s efforts to advocate and lobby on behalf of the digital games industry in Australia and New Zealand.

According to Ron Curry, CEO of IGEA, “By formalising our relationship with Riot Games, we are well prepared to deal with issues affecting, and poised to affect, our industry.  With an increased focus on esports in particular from media, regulators, government and educators, Riot Games will  join forces with our current members to help guide us in providing further information to policy makers and consumers about this incredibly popular past time and the proactive work publishers are undertaking in this area.

“In representing the many areas of the games ecosystem in Australia and New Zealand, IGEA’s expanding membership provides the industry with both a diverse and unified voice to engage with the many stakeholders we currently work with to promote and represent the video games industry.  Together we are stronger.”

Daniel Ringland, General Manager of Riot Games says, “The video games industry is evolving just as fast in Australia as it is anywhere and we’re excited to join our industry peers at the IGEA to help shape policy and direction of the industry as a whole”
