Otherworldly 3D Novel The Midnight Sanctuary Receives Free PSVR, SteamVR Update
30% Off All Versions in Holiday Sales
TOKYO – 19 December 2018 – The Midnight Sanctuary, the occult suspense 3D novel from Sony publishing label UNTIES and developer CAVYHOUSE, has received a free update enabling PSVR and SteamVR support. A 30% discount haunts PlayStation 4, Steam and Nintendo Switch in various winter sales between Dec. 20 and Jan. 18.
The Midnight Sanctuary offers players an immersive audiovisual experience, blurring the line between surrealism and realism in its storytelling and visual effects. With a beautiful blend of fixed 2D textures and fluid 3D models, The Midnight Sanctuary presents stunning visual graphics infused with a stained-glass aesthetic as the bone-chilling presentation to its eerie events.
Quirky historian Hamomuro Tachibana, voiced by popular Japanese actress Yū Shimamura (Final Fantasy XV, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Attack on Titan) leads players down a ghastly tale. Tachibana visits Daiusu, a long-isolated Japanese village, to help catalog its sordid past and introduce inhabitants to modern customs.
Formerly persecuted for their religious beliefs, the villagers have built a majestic cathedral in honor of its most revered deity, “The Saint.” They hope to make Daiusu a tourist destination where others can experience their long-upheld traditions.
However, Tachibana soon realizes the charming village may not be so lovely after all. After witnessing a handful of disturbing and inexplicable events, she starts to question if their beloved saint represents good or if it’s back to bring about destruction.
“The Midnight Sanctuary’s Japanese horror tale really comes alive in VR,” said John Davis, G&R Representative, UNTIES. “CAVYHOUSE’s distinctive aesthetics are designed to enhance the spookiness of the experience, creating an immersively chilling atmosphere impossible to achieve outside of games.”
The Midnight Sanctuary is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam for a regular price of $9.99 USD, supporting English text localization with full audio and text in Japanese. The 30% discount will be active on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in North America from Dec. 20 – Jan. 8, PlayStation 4 in Europe from Dec. 21 – Jan. 18, Nintendo Switch in Europe from Jan. 7 – Jan. 18, as well as Steam during the 2018 winter sale.
