New Belgrade studio takes the number of Ubisoft team members in Eastern Europe to over 2000

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – November 18, 2016 – Ubisoft has announced the opening of a new production studio in Belgrade, Serbia. Ubisoft Belgrade is the group’s fourth production studio based in Eastern Europe, after Bucharest, Sofia and Kiev. The studio is already home to a team of 15 collaborating on the PC version of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Wildlands, with the goal of reaching 40 team members in the coming year.

Ubisoft already benefits from its considerable history and experience in Eastern Europe. It was a pioneer in the region, setting up one of the first development studios in Bucharest, Romania 25 years ago, followed by Sofia, Bulgaria in 2006 and Kiev, Ukraine in 2008. Coupled with the growth of the IT sector in the region, and the associated expertise in the job market, it was a natural step forward for Ubisoft to continue to grow its teams in the area. Now, the four Ubisoft studios – Bucharest, Sofia, Kiev and Belgrade gather together more than 2000 people working in a Production and Quality Control capacity, contributing to some of Ubisoft’s biggest brands such as Assassin’s Creed®, Far Cry®, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon and Watch Dogs®, and continuously growing their scope and expertise.

“Serbia has a lot to offer in terms of talent, in particular tech professionals. We’re always on the lookout for high potential markets with the passion, skills and expertise to create the very best games, and Serbia’s reputation in several key fields makes this investment the perfect match,” said Sebastien Delen, Managing Director, Ubisoft Bucharest, Ubisoft Kiev and Ubisoft Belgrade. “We are bringing years of expertise to the Serbian market and want to contribute to the development of the local gaming industry, as we did for the other countries in the region.”

The team from Belgrade will collaborate closely with Ubisoft Bucharest, Ubisoft Kiev and Ubisoft Paris on the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands project, and will collaborate on other projects with other experienced Ubisoft studios in the future. The Belgrade studio opens its doors with a team composed primarily of experienced programmers. In the future, the team will expand to include other job families.

The Belgrade studio is strategically located in the center of the city, very close to the universities’ campus, which will facilitate contact and exchanges with students potentially interested in a career in video game development. Ubisoft Belgrade is actively recruiting. For more information, please visit www.jobs.ubisoft.com
