Battlefield 3 To Introduce Matches Feature

Earlier today in a blog post, the Battlefield 3 developers over at DICE announced their upcoming Matches content to the Battlefield 3 game. The new addition allows players renting a server to set up matches between their friends and squad members in a fully customisable manner. This feature will be available for PC, X360 and PS3 owners.

I can see this feature being utilised in the competitive arena, where an event organiser will be running a dedicated server and will be able to customise the Battlefield experience based on their competitors needs, or unique rules that competitors must obide by. The following is one of the more interesting sections from the blog –

After these preliminary decisions have been made, game settings are determined for the Match. Matches are completely customizable; an extensive list of settings including friendly fire, 3D spotting, squad-leader spawning, kill cam, health regeneration, a list of weapon unlocks that will be made available to players, and more can be set to exact specifications.

Does anyone that frequents this site run a dedicated server? Let us know your opinion on such a service.
