SF Australia has announced that its new big show Defiance will air on Thursday, April 18 at 9:30 pm EST, first on FOXTEL. The show will hit Australian airwaves within 55 hours of debuting in America, and marks the a new era in entertainment by being the first series to meld both video games and television.

Defiance will star Australian lead Grant Bowler (Nolan), Julie Benz (Amanda Rosewater), Stephanie Leonidas (Irisa), Tony Curran (Datak Tarr), Jaime Murray (Stahma Tarr), Graham Greene (Rafe McCawley) and Mia Kirshner (Kenya), set in a future Earth where human and aliens must co-exist.

The show comes from the minds behind such fan favorite shows as Battlestar Galactica and Caprica. It will be a 13-episode series and will begin with a two-hour debut episode.

The game of the same name, developed by Trion Worlds and distributed by Namco Bandai, launched overnight and will release in Australia and New Zealand on April 11 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
