Microsoft not attending Tokyo Game Show or Gamescom in 2012

While Microsoft may have had their own pre-E3 conference and even paid to have Usher attend and do a performance, it seems that the company is choosing to skip out of the other two major videogame events this year. While it is not surprising, given the Xbox 360’s complete inability to obtain a foothold in Japan, that Microsoft is not attending Tokyo Game Show this year, it is interesting to see that they will also be avoiding Germany’s Gamescom in August.

Rather than attend these large events, it seems that the company “will be focusing on smaller, more localized promotions and experiences for press, partners, retailers and customers around the world”, as stated by Major Nelson earlier today.
