Call of Juarez: The Cartel announced; will take place in modern day

Wait. What? Yes you read that right. Ubisoft has revealed that they will be making a new Call of Juarez game to make it the third of the series. It will be called Call of Juarez: The Cartel. While that isn’t surprising, what is surprising is the fact that this one will be set in a modern day Los Angeles. The previous two Call of Juarez games were set in the Wild West so it will be a big step up as far as a setting goes, but according to the boxart seen to the right then it looks like at least some of the Wild West will be retained.

More information and screenshots will be available in EGM in March as they have an exclusive look behind the scenes of Ubisoft’s upcoming game which is said to be coming this Summer in the US and Winter for you Aussies. Announcing a game and having it come out only a few months later? Talk about keeping a secret.

Adam Novickas, director of marketing for Techland/Ubisoft had this to say regarding the newest installment of Call of Juarez:

“Call of Juarez: The Cartel is an action-packed shooter game with a strong story, interesting characters and a wide variety of gameplay options. The game will bring the best elements of the Wild West into modern times with a very gritty and relevant plot.”
