DALLAS – 15 Nov. 2023Wizordum, the retro first-person spellcaster developed by Emberheart Games and published by Apogee Entertainment, launches on Steam Early Access today with a spellbook full of never-before-seen weapons, abilities, and much more.

A great Wizard’s thirst for lost knowledge leads him to the forbidden depths of Terrabruma, breaking the ancient seal of a cosmic prison. The ever-corrupting Chaos is now unleashed, corrupting all life in its path. As one of the last surviving mages of Wizordum, search for the source of corruption across the realm rife with danger and vanquish evil in this fast-paced, ‘90s-inspired FPS.

Cleanse the dilapidated Town of Grimbrook in search of clues leading to the source of Chaos. Scour for the evil wellspring across disheveled dungeons, crumbling cathedrals, and ashen streets. Avoid traps and solve maze-like puzzles while gathering keys, items, and precious ammunition to advance past deadly foes throughout every level.

Bash corrupted beings and mercenary goblins with a sharp-edged mace, and blast ornery ogres to oblivion with enchanted weapons. Leverage elemental spell effects to gain the upperhand — freeze scuttling rats into shatter-ready ice blocks with the Frostweaver, and use the Pyroblast spell to hurl fiery boulders at wayward skeletons.

Grab a torch to increase view distance and brighten dark dungeons. Become untouchable with a Fire Shield that hurts enemies up close, and store up the divine-power from fallen foes to cast the Divine Touch — a mighty shockwave of divine power that will break and tear everything in its path.

Conjure up greater challenges with multiple difficulty levels, and speedrun to the top of online leaderboards. Create challenging adventures, full-length episodes, and everything in between with the in-game level editor, and download creations from fellow mages on Steam and GOG alike.

Drive out corruption to the tunes of enchanting hi-fi and lo-fi original soundtracks, coming soon from Apogee Music. Opt for ominous orchestral crescendos or complement Wizordum’s retro aesthetic with a nostalgic soundscape produced with authentic Roland midi modules, inspired by fantasy FPS classics such as Heretic, Hexen, and Ultima Underworld. Sample the epic arrangements with “Symphonic Suite from Wizordum” now available on Apogee’s YouTube channel as well as all music streaming platforms.

Wizordum is a magical dose of nostalgia combined with seamless modern controls, and is very much a love letter to old-school fantasy FPS titles,” said Primož Vovk, developer at Emberheart Games. “There have already been so many awesome creations through the level editor, and we look forward to players sharing their creations with the Wizordum community.”

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Arrives March 22, 2024 Pre-Orders Available Now

London (November 29, 2023) The Dragon’s Dogma™ 2 Showcase confirmed the long-awaited sequel arrives on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on March 22, 2024, with pre-orders available now. Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi also unveiled a new trailer and gameplay for the narrative driven action RPG, including the new Trickster Vocation, new enemies, and deeper insights into the story and gameplay choices players will make as they delve deeper into the immersive fantasy world.

View the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Showcase below:

Adventure in Two Nations

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, players experience the tale of the Arisen, a champion whose heart is stolen by the Dragon. While the sequel’s setting mirrors the lush rolling hills of the cult classic Dragon’s Dogma™ and its Dark Arisen expansion, this original adventure takes place in a parallel world containing two nations with distinct approaches to the Dragon threat. Queen Regent Disa has installed a false Arisen to maintain control of the kingdom of Vermund for her son. Meanwhile, the beastren nation of Battahl considers the otherworldly Pawns to be a source of misfortune and have turned to worship of the Lambent Flame and their empress Nadinia to ward off calamity. The showcase provided a look at some of the destinations that quests can lead players to, such as the reclusive elven enclave of Sacred Arbor. The elves there communicate in their own language, and Pawns capable of understanding their speech will translate for the Arisen while in your party. Pawns can also specialize in other skills, making each of their personalities more distinct.

A Journey Defined by Choice

Upon starting their journey in Dragon’s Dogma 2, players will be able to craft both their Arisen and Main Pawn using an intuitive and deep character creator that makes use of photogrammetry to enhance the realism of each characters’ appearance. Additionally, players can choose the personality of their main Pawn, which will determine their behavior and conversation choices throughout the game. As players progress, they will unlock additional vocations such as the newly revealed Trickster. This Arisen-exclusive vocation can conjure illusions through the smoke created by its unique weapon, the Censer. Tricksters can use illusions to deceive enemies into fighting against their own, and can temporarily increase the power of Pawns beyond their limits. The new Trickster vocation showcases the ways players can manipulate and take advantage of the enhanced enemy AI to open entirely new combat opportunities.

The digital event also provided a first look at the returning Warrior and Sorcerer Vocations that will be available to both the Arisen and Pawns. The Warrior boasts a robust physique specializing in direct combat, with the strength to endure enemy attacks. Warriors are masters of two-handed weapons such as the greatsword and the hammer. The Sorcerer is a vocation completely specialized in various magick attacks. Their magick is conjured with both hands through a large staff and can change the tide of battle at any given opportunity.

Confront Fearsome Foes

Director Itsuno and Producer Hirabayashi provided a first look at several monsters during the digital event, including the new Talos enemy, a towering bronze golem capable of wreaking untold destruction with a single step. After Talos rises from the waters, players will need to make use of the various tools afforded them by their Vocation, Pawns, and terrain to subdue this mighty construct. The digital event also revealed gameplay for the Dullahan and Drake enemies. Dullahan is a headless specter capable of immobilizing its target before striking with its powerful curved blade. Drakes are fearsome draconic foes capable of breathing a potent flame when confronted and taking flight to shift the scales of combat.

Product Information

In addition to the standard version of Dragon’s Dogma 2, a Deluxe Edition containing the “New Journey Pack” includes in-game items to help your Arisen on their journey such as a custom Camping Kit, a Wakestone, Rift Crystals, a Dragon’s Dogma Music and Sound collection, and more will be also be available. Pre-orders of the Standard Edition will feature a bonus weapon for each of the four starting vocations, and Deluxe Edition pre-orders will also include the Ring of Assurance in-game accessory.

Preserving nature and biodiversity with the PlayStation Community

It’s been over a year since the launch of Guerrilla’s Horizon Forbidden West, and Sony Interactive Entertainment would like to share an update on the Aloy’s Forest project with you. This initiative is part of a commitment to the United Nations Playing for the Planet Alliance, supported by UN-REDD, to raise awareness on biodiversity. In 2022, the UN Playing for the Planet Alliance set a target to plant 1 million trees together with the gaming industry.

Together with the PlayStation community and selected partners, Guerrilla and Sony Interactive Entertainment have supported a number of reforestation projects around the world. So far, these projects have resulted in over 600,000 trees planted globally, and an estimated 1,800 acres of indigenous lands and wildlife habitats restored.

Gaming has the power to inspire change, so PlayStation Australia is excited to release this video (below) and share the progress partners have made with these projects. PlayStation Australia hopes you’ll enjoy learning about its vitally important work in biodiversity conservation.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is proud to have worked with the following partners and organisations on impactful restoration projects around the world:

United States

The Arbor Day Foundation planted 288,000 trees for players who successfully achieved the “Reached the Daunt” trophy in Horizon Forbidden West. Through this initiative, SIE is helping to complete three major reforestation projects in forests of need across areas in California, Florida, and Wisconsin.

Brazil

333,000 trees are in the process of being planted by the Arbor Day Foundation the end of this year to help restore 946 acres of indigenous lands in the Brazilian Amazon. This work will improve food security and income alternatives for thousands of indigenous people while contributing to conservation efforts and helping mitigate climate change.

United Kingdom

Taking inspiration from Seeds of Aloy, the partnership with the Eden Project has so far seen the creation of wildflower habitat in Morecambe, Lancashire, including urban environments. This new habitat will support local wildlife, aid biodiversity, and connect the local community to the natural world.

New Zealand

Flox, a street stencil artist from New Zealand, leant her creative expertise to launch Horizon Forbidden West via a highly-visible campaign that took over urban locations across Auckland. Through the use of native plants and eye-catching artwork, the team encouraged social engagement by planting a tree for every social share of the outdoor activity. In partnership with Forest & Bird, 1,000 trees were planted at Bushy Park Tarapuruhi to help restore the country’s native forests and wildlife.

Bavaria division, Germany

Stiftung “Wir helfen dem Wald” planted 3,000 trees for trophies shared via #AloysWald on Twitter. The restoration of this degraded forest site is part of a research forest initiated by Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald in Bavaria, which is studying climate-resistant tree species.

Canada

Proceeds from copies of Horizon Forbidden West sold in Canada were donated to WWF-Canada to restore 1 km2 of coastal habitat in British Columbia. We helped to support WWF-Canada’s work to rehabilitate seagrass, a vital food and shelter resource for many aquatic species. Restoring seagrass also helps to absorb carbon dioxide.

France

MyTree planted a total of 10,000 trees, helping restore damaged forests in France. One tree was planted for every five players who achieved the “Reached the Daunt” trophy in Horizon Forbidden West.

There is certainly much more work to do, and PlayStation Australia is pleased to be able to continue collaborations with partners, The Arbor Day Foundation to work on further biodiversity-related projects in African and Asian regions. They look forward to sharing further progress on all these important projects in future.

About NotGames

NotGames is a British game studio that opened its doors in 2013 to attempt to save the charity that brought us all together. Coming from a bizarre background of film, TV, theatre, and comedy, NotGames aren’t your usual game developers. If you’re asking, we’d like to call ourselves ‘multi-talented all-rounders’, while our former employers would probably say we’re ‘unfocussed and easily distracted’.

Exhausted after the runaway success of the cult-classic NotTheNameWeWanted and the subsequent stillbirth of NotCoD (we don’t like to talk about it), we took some time out to contemplate our navels in a dark room.

In 2017, we decided to get the band back together, with NotGames 2.0 combining satire, social commentary and original gameplay into the dystopian wonderland of Not For Broadcast

Hand Drawn Chainsaw Slaughterfest Cookie Cutter Launches Dec 14

Mow Down Literal Dickheads In Hand Drawn, Heart Attack-Inducing Metroidvania Massacre Featuring One Angry Bitch On The Hunt For Revenge

LOS ANGELES – NOVEMBER 28, 2023 – The demented developers at Subcult Joint LTD have announced monster-mutilating, creature-slaughtering, Dickhead-destroying post-punk brawler Cookie Cutter tears up the standard Metroidvania formula when it revs up its chainsaw across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC via Steam and Epic Game Store on December 14.

Put on your big girl panties as Cherry, an android hellbent on rescuing her creator, Doctor Shinji Fallon, from the clutches of an evil mega-corporation’s leader. Featuring gorgeously gory hand-drawn visuals, therapy-inducing action, lots of curse words, and narrative twists worthy enough to bust a nut, Cookie Cutter is the perfect game to play with family during the holidays… if you plan to get disowned!

Admire Cherry as she pulverizes putrid monstrosities in Cookie Cutter’s release date announcement trailer below:

Inspired by Japanese manga, Quentin Tarantino films, and H.P. Lovecraft, Cookie Cutter was made to stand out with middle fingers held high. After Cherry’s budding romance with her creator is abruptly brought to an end by a thorough clobbering from a pair of actual Dickheads. Left for dead in a hidden lab, Cherry is luckily resurrected by a renegade mechanic named Raz and vows to enact revenge by eviscerating anything that gets in her way.

Rip up scores of the mega-corporation’s minions across 10 huge zones. Split apart the wings of overgrown mosquitoes, slice mini-bosses in half, and slap an unsuspecting robot with Cherry’s motorcycle. Guitar slide past foes in a pinch, then strum together an electrifying execution. Talk to your light-up genital companion, Regina, when you’re feeling lonely in the depths of the dystopian Megastructure.

Cookie Cutter will be available December 14 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC via Steam and Epic Game Store. Wishlist right now or we’ll tell Cherry you think her game sucks. Trust us, you don’t want that to happen.

The Coffin of Andy and Leyley Development Shifts to Kit9 Studio

The highly popular and twisted indie game The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is undergoing a few changes behind the scenes. Following a series of unfortunate internet events, the primary developer of the game has allowed Kit9 Studio, the team that helped publish the early access title, to acquire the game and will now be handling all programming, community management, customer support, business contracts, and legal disputes in the future.

Fans of the game will have some solace in the fact that the original developer will still continue to work on the game by providing art and the story for the rest of the game’s two episodes that are currently set to release following the early access release of the first two episodes. Unfortunately Kit9 Studio goes on to say that the developer has chosen to terminate all online activities from now on, stating that “They are choosing to remain completely in the dark, and to continue their work happily offline.” The announcement continues on to state that the development and story progress of the game will continue with no changes in plans.

The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is currently available as an Early Access title on PC through Steam at $9.99 USD and tells a dark and twisted tail of a pair of siblings that must survive starvation, each other, and far more dangerous forces at work.
