New Murder On Space Station 52 Dev Diary Shows How Unique Art Makes It From Pen To Pixel

Solo developer Made From Strings and publisher Dionous Games have today released a new developer diary for their “Agatha Christie In Space” murder mystery coming to PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch, Murder On Space Station 52. In the video, developer Christopher Mathes takes a deep dive into the game’s art, showing off his hand-drawn inkwork and the iterative process of bringing the art from black and white on paper, to the full colour art-deco-sci-fi environments you see in the game. Find out about the game’s artistic inspirations, how Christopher created the unique characters that will be the suspects you will investigate in the game, and more.

In Murder On Space Station 52, you play as Edward Locke. The new repairman finds himself trapped on a strange space station filled with even stranger people, including one with a penchant for leaving dead bodies lying around with keys in their wounds. Edward soon finds himself filling out a murder board with suspects as he tries to draw connections and figure out which of them is the Keychain Killer.

The game’s murder mystery investigation draws on classic adventure game mechanics with its point and click puzzles, while also offering a modern touch thanks to in-game currency that you earn as you explore, allowing you to customise your apartment and fill an aquarium with an array of strange and curious creatures.

It’s all on show in the dev commentary video (above) and you can delve further into the richly conceived world of Space Station 52, get a taste of its rip-roaring blues-inspired soundtrack and fully voiced cast of charismatic characters in the game’s announcement trailer below.

LIVESTREAM HIGHLIGHTS PLATFORM EKLIPSE SURPASSES 500,000 REGISTERED USERS

Eklipse helps produce over 5,000,000 clips per quarter for livestream creators.

Singapore, 15 August 2024 | Eklipse, the innovative platform for cross-platform content creation, is announcing its impact towards a more hands-off approach to video editing.

Introducing Eklipse

Developed for content creators to turn long-form live streams into short-form clips, Eklipse is a video editing tool for cross-platform content. The browser and mobile application identify “viral” moments during live streams and create short videos to easily share across social platforms. Using the Eklipse Studio, creators can manually customize their content with captions, music, stickers, and other imported assets to personalize their clips. Intended for creators of all sizes, Eklipse has amassed over 500,000 users and, with the help of its technology, has published thousands of short-form videos across its users’ social media channels.

Global Reach

Since its founding in 2022, Eklipse’s 500,000 registered users have generated over 5,000,000 clips last quarter. The application identifies viral moments during live streams, giving users the flexibility to either refine them further in Eklipse Studio or instantly enhance them with AI Edit. Once perfected, the content is ready to be shared across YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Facebook Reels.

The platform sees 500,000 of its generated videos shared across these platforms as a way for content creators to expand their social reach.

Weihan Liew, Founder of Eklipse.gg says the following about his goals for the platform:

“Our goal with Eklipse was to make live streaming more accessible. Growing a channel is extremely time-consuming, other than the streaming itself – creators have to think about their social media activity, community management, and stream schedules. Streamers who are just starting out struggle to balance all of these things and don’t have larger teams behind them to help. It’s great that we can help these newer creators with their dreams of creating their own platforms by providing them with the tools they need to grow.”

Eklipse’s Key Strengths

  • Time-Saving: Eklipse’s users often highlight the ability to save them significant time by automating clip creation and editing. This allows them to focus on streaming and creating content rather than spending hours on post-production, which resonates with busy streamers and content creators who struggle to find time for editing.
  • Ease of Use: Eklipse is often praised for its user-friendly interface, making it accessible even to beginners with limited editing experience.
  • Social Media Integration: The platform integrates seamlessly with social media platforms, allowing for quick and easy sharing of clips. This streamlines the content distribution process and helps content creators reach wider audiences.
  • Community and Support: Eklipse’s users are impressed by the platform’s team’s responsiveness to technical issues and support.

Supported by Global Leaders

As a participant in Google’s Accelerator program, Eklipse received invaluable guidance from Google experts. The tailored technical, product, and leadership guidance expanded Eklipse’s capacity as an AI leader and a technical startup.  Ben King, Managing Director at Google Singapore, accredits Eklipse as a trailblazer in the growing field of artificial intelligence:

“In collaboration with Enterprise Singapore, our Google for Startups Accelerator: AI-First program is one way that we are giving innovative startups such as DiMuto and Eklipse.gg a headway in building meaningful generative AI solutions.”

Eklipse’s official site allows users to explore the full range of the program’s features. Follow Eklipse on X to see user-generated clips, and join the official Discord for platform questions and community engagement.

Currently in development, DEFECT will deliver a new kind of experience through its immersive and highly tactical combat for fans of the action shooter genre. From the creative minds of emptyvessel comes an original IP set in a futuristic, divided city ruled by an enigmatic AI system, all while ruthless gangs and rogue law enforcement vie for supremacy. DEFECT is being created by industry-leading developers behind iconic franchises including DOOM, Call of Duty, and The Last of Us. Players eager to join the fight can add DEFECT to their Steam wishlist starting now.

The game unveil is supported with a first reveal trailer that includes early gameplay and highlights the close-quarters shootouts and dystopian cityscape that DEFECT inhabitants call home – before it all gets shredded by crossfire.

emptyvessel debuted as a new independent game studio earlier this year, capitalizing on more than 100 years of combined game industry experience with some of the most genre-defining games. With a passion for creating games that deliver immersive experiences, DEFECT is the team’s first title, and is built using the groundbreaking Unreal Engine 5. Utilizing the latest technology and the team’s vision for delivering unique and exciting gameplay experiences, players will be immersed into a war between anarchy and authority that can only be found in DEFECT.

“Our goal with DEFECT is to deliver a new approach for both gamers and for developers,” said Emanuel Palalic, CEO and Game Director, emptyvessel. “We’re exploring an authoritarian take on the game world, and leaning hard into the ‘punk’ in cyberpunk, fully immersing players into the carnage of a society where technology isn’t just a tool, but a burden. For the industry, we want to inspire other game makers to work in smaller teams, as we are, to have the ability to take more creative risks and work more independently. We’re really excited about making DEFECT and hope that everyone follows our story!”

Revel in the anarchy of a city on the brink. DEFECT is an Immersive Objective Shooter set in the last city of mankind, where THE SYSTEM, an authoritarian AI, rules with inhuman logic. Players will choose from a collection of dangerous factions—The System’s own policing force, Rogue Police Elements, or a host of gangs vying for power to play with friends in PvP or co-op multiplayer. Compete to achieve objectives like smuggling guns, assassinating targets, or arresting suspects. Suit up with state-of-the-art weaponry and technology to give you the edge you need to live another day.

CONTROL VS CHAOS

Fight as the totalitarian forces crushing humanity beneath the boot of the law or the gang factions killing anyone between them and full control of the city.

DYNAMIC ACTION

Fight in tense and tactical matches as a member of a four-person squad, as you attempt to fend off other teams eager to claim every credit and reward for their own. Every match has multiple objectives with different finales.

PREPARE FOR ANARCHY

Come together with your squad to gear up and collect what you need in your squad car or gang hangout to be ready for anything the battle throws at you. While in the fight, keep a keen eye out for pickups that can change the course of the match. You never know what you’ll find.

The world of DEFECT is just beginning to be revealed as emptyvessel shares early insight into the game, which reflects a new kind of genre in the immersive shooter category. The team has partnered with leading creative agency, PETROL Advertising, who will utilize their white label publishing services to lead campaign, brand strategy and market planning including asset creation across Key Visuals, AV, and Social Media. PETROL will leverage their expertise from over 2,000 successful game launches and implement it into a holistic approach for DEFECT.

Pantaloon launches Publishing Hub; nexus of commercial resources for game developers

Pantaloon has today launched the Pantaloon Publishing Hub – a platform designed to equip game developers with everything they might need for self-publishing, including a Resource Library with seven industry-adopted assets that form the foundation for a commercial plan.

Pantaloon, a new platform that champions bold and bizarre games via a rapidly growing newsletter, has expanded its offering to the developer space, as it looks to provide value to an increasingly large group of developers who might be looking to publish their games independently.

“Off the back of a fraught year for the industry, I’m confident we’re going to see more studios taking on self-publishing” said Jamin Smith, Pantaloon’s Founder, on its mission, “but even for those with the team/financial-capacity to do so, the commercial side of game-dev is a complex beast. With the Publishing Hub, we want to expose as much of the publishing machine as possible and connect developers with tools and services that can help. Even for studios that are looking to pursue a publisher – for funding or any other reason – we hope to offer the knowledge and confidence required to be an active partner on the commercial side of the fence.”

The Publishing Hub currently features a 33-slide Brand Plan, Studio Branding Guidelines, Press Release Template and Outreach Guide, Campaign Roadmap and Beat Sheet, Pitch Deck Template, Newsletter Growth Guide and Playtest Framework from partners at Go Testify. Additionally, the PressEngine team will host a monthly drop-in surgery for Q&A and advice on media and influencers. All for free.

In bringing the Publishing Hub to developers, Pantaloon has also partnered with Sogage, with an exclusive trial and discount for its powerful all in one community platform and social monitoring tool. Finally, the Hub also taps into the network and resources of Into Games, with the two companies partnering for a Bold and Bizarre Bundle which is currently accepting submissions via the Hub.

The Publishing Hub will be expanded with new resources each month, as well as articles, insights and case studies from studio members.
