Monster Hunter Wilds Scouts an Enchanting New Locale and Fearsome Foes at Gamescom Opening Night Live

London (August 20) Today, Capcom ventured into unknown territory at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024, revealing an all-new hunting ground, foes, and features debuting in Monster Hunter Wilds™. The latest footage for the highly anticipated action RPG showcased the Scarlet Forest and a spider-like monster known as Lala Barina, who patrols this lush woodland. Capcom also presented the first extended look at a region’s apex monster and explored exciting new gameplay details, including how to clash with larger-than-life foes head-on, hunt as a group even in single player, and enjoy unprecedented freedom in the seamless world of the Forbidden Lands.

The next evolution in the award-winning Monster Hunter™ series is gearing up for a simultaneous worldwide release in 2025 on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam with crossplay support.

Watch the latest Monster Hunter Wilds trailer on YouTube below

  • New Hunting Ground: The Scarlet Forest, a newly revealed locale in the Forbidden Lands, is a lush setting with towering greenery contrasted by waters dyed a crimson hue. Like the other ecosystems in Monster Hunter Wilds, the Scarlet Forest is a dynamic environment that undergoes periods of Plenty, Inclemency, and Fallow that transform the landscape and wildlife residing within it.
  • New Monster: One creature that calls the Scarlet Forest home is Lala Barina. Part of the Temnoceran class of monsters rarely seen in the series, the Lala Barina possesses sharp, spindly limbs and can unfurl its thorax into a massive, rose-like form that is as treacherous as it is beautiful.
  • Apex Spotlight: Each region in Monster Hunter Wilds is ruled by an apex monster. Downstream from the Scarlet Forest in the previously revealed Windward Plains, a monster known as Rey Dau reigns supreme. Initially glimpsed at Summer Game Fest, the Flying Wyvern was unveiled today in its full glory. The apex predator of the Windward Plains is adapted to the harsh conditions of the Sandtides that transform its dusty grassland and can unleash destructive electrical strikes that pose a threat to even the most experienced hunters.
  • Support Hunters: Whether playing solo or online, Support Hunters can fill openings in players’ hunting parties. These helpful NPCs include Olivia, a hammer-wielding member of the Forbidden Lands Research Commission, who will also play a key role in the story along with her elite Palico, Athos.
  • More Moves: In addition to new allies, hunters can also engage with adversaries in fresh ways. These include the Power Clash, where blocking certain attacks can lock hunters into a physical struggle, and Offset Attacks, where a well-timed hit can interrupt a monster. Succeeding with these new abilities can knock monsters off balance to provide critical openings or trigger powerful special attacks.
  • Windsong Village: The latest trailer also introduced Kunafa, a settlement hunters will visit in the Windward Plains. One of multiple communities in the Forbidden Lands, this village has existed here for generations and possesses its own unique culture. Shaped by its surroundings and local wildlife, Kunafa raises livestock for cheese production and is also home to Seikrets, the trusty mounts hunters will soon discover to be indispensable companions when exploring the wilds.
  • Seamless Exploration: When away from base camp, hunters can embark on expeditions with a number of objectives in mind. Quests can begin by targeting a monster in the area using their map or simply by striking one when out in the field. Players can also prepare for their next hunt without returning to base by using their portable BBQ grill for a stat boost or by taking a rest at a Pop-up Camp. These forward operating bases are convenient spots to manage items and equipment, serve as return points after fainting, and can be used as fast-travel destinations.

The first look at Terry’s gameplay was revealed at Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live, with a longer Extended Version premiering immediately after. Players can finally experience Terry across all three games modes, including Fighting Ground, and Battle Hub, as well as throwing hands with Terry as the newest Master in World Tour’s Metro City. In addition to debuting his fiery move set, which incorporates mechanics from SNK’s Fatal Fury series, Capcom revealed a hot new outfit and stage set to drop alongside the Legendary Hungry Wolf next month!

To witness the Terry Gameplay Trailer, see below, and for the latest assets and information on Street Fighter™ 6, visit the official Street Fighter 6 website.

Go head-to-head as Terry with these new additions:

  • New Outfit: Try on Terry’s Outfit 2, inspired by his appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, where he sports a brown jacket and jeans. Acquire this retro look and dress to impress by maxing out your bond with him in World Tour, or with Fighter Coins.
  • New Stage: Keep the open tabs coming with Terry in the new stage, Pao Pao Cafe 6 and find all the Easter Eggs and cameos from the Fatal Fury series! Year 2 Ultimate Pass owners will receive automatic access to Terry and the Cafe stage on Sept. 24, while the new stage can also be purchased individually with Fighter Coins or Drive Tickets.

Terry is ready to fight with his iconic attacks from previous Fatal Fury installments such as Power Geyser and Passing Sway featured in his extensive move set:

  • Passing Sway: A unique target combo that movies to the back “lane” of the stage when it hits, then has Terry reappear on either side of his opponent with Jumping Lariat or Jumping Knee – a unique mechanic carried over directly from the Fatal Fury series!
  • Power Wave: Launch a fireball projectile that travels along the ground, with the light version moving slower and the medium version igniting a bigger wave.
  • Burn Knuckle:  A forward thrusting punch, useful for surprises and closing distance. The light version, Quick Burn, reels off a hook, then a downward punch that can’t be blocked while crouching.
  • Buster Wolf: Terry’s Level 1 Super Art charges him forward with a piercing thrust, firing off a blast of energy, and is invincible on start-up.
  • Power Geyser: Terry’s Level 2 Super Art erupts a volcanic explosion that pushes opponents away. If it hits, expend 3 Drive Gauge bars to follow-up with a Twin Geyser. And if that hits, spend 1 Super Art gauge for the iconic Triple Geyser.
  • Rising Fang: Terry’s Level 3 Super Art showcases a lethal sequence of attacks featuring his iconic moves that end with a powerful blast.

Terry will be ready to rumble next month for players who own or purchase the Year 2 Character Pass or Year 2 Ultimate Pass. The wicked M. Bison (available now) and easygoing Terry will soon be joined by Mai (Early 2025) and Elena (Spring 2025) to round out Year 2 of Street Fighter™ 6. Stay tuned for more details!

You are Kyle Crane, the man whose selflessness during the initial virus outbreak saved many from a fate worse than death. After more than a decade in captivity, you find yourself in a world that’s changed, and not for the better. Now, you’ll need to use the survival skills that kept you alive all those years ago to save even more innocent lives.

Nearly ten years after the launch of the original Dying Light, Techland also announced the return of voice actor Roger Craig Smith to his iconic role of Kyle Crane. “Stepping back into Kyle Crane’s shoes feels like a reunion with an old friend,” Smith said. “And even though he’s gone through a terrible time, there’s still plenty of legendary hero left in him.”

Explore a tightly-crafted open world

Welcome to Castor Woods! This once-bustling tourist destination is home to a diminishing number of survivors and an increasing population of zombies. Featuring natural landmarks, small villages and industrial complexes, the setting offers diverse traversal options, whether it’s using your parkour skills to gain the upper hand on your enemies or hopping into an abandoned 4×4 to outrun the horrors of the night.

Unleash the beast to survive

They caged you like an animal. Years of brutal experimentation took its toll, but the zombie DNA and yours are now intertwined so that you are able to unleash a beast-like power. It flows through your veins. No one can take it from you. Use it. And you’ll discover it’s not just a curse.

Surviving the night is easier in 4-player co-op

The day brings many possibilities to explore the region and make the most of your time while the sun is still out. But after sundown, the laws of nature take their course. Darkness tends to bring out the worst in the horde, leaving you with no other choice but to run, hide, or fight.

Sometimes it’s best to stick to a group. You never know what you might come across on your adventure. Team up in up to 4-player co-op, or ride solo if you have the guts to take it all on your own.

Ultimate owners get Dying Light: The Beast at no extra cost

Development of Dying Light: The Beast originally started as a story DLC for Dying Light 2 Stay Human. But after two years of work, its size and scope has changed so much that it evolved into a standalone, self-contained experience.

To show appreciation for the community who patiently waited for the DLC, Techland will be offering Dying Light: The Beast at no extra cost to all owners of the Dying Light 2 Stay Human Ultimate Edition, delivering a full standalone adventure instead of just a DLC.

Dying Light: The Beast will be available on both PC and current-gen and last-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Techland will reveal more details including the release date later this year. To always stay up to date you can wishlist Dying Light: The Beast now on Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox and PlayStation.
